hello, I have a question about what you were saying on the injection pump, when you have the marks lined up, is there a mark behind the inspection hatch that must be timed relative to tdc on the engine? thank Robert

Yes, the camshaft, crank, and injection pump timing marks must be lined up. They are visible on the front side of the engine.

Have you stripped and rebuild one? I'm asking as I have a friend of a friend who had an old Perkins in his yacht but he has removed the pump and then sent it away to be rebuilt, however he believed the pump was correct and altered the timing of the engine to suite it and now obviously she won't run, he came to me to look into it as I look after my friends trawler, haven't worked on a cav pump myself as my machines are all VE pumps, I'm wondering if the pump could be set 180 degrees out for example

hey do you know what turbo this is?I'm looking for a replacement for my jcb 3cx because it's covered in oil especially on the intake side and i get blue smoke which is concerning.Otherwise the engine sounds strong so this might be the issue.

This engine has the turbocharger - I suspect that it must be properly matched with the injector pump.

Hi ProjectsbyTMD. Rich here partner Columbus Ohio. I have a perkins parts engine LD for fixing a AR perkins. I was going to use the Camshaft from the LD engine but it's different. The Lobe's are in a different Timing Order. I'm pretty sure most 4 cylinder engines run 1.3.4.2. Except a Old Ford industrial wich I think is 1.4.3.2....? The LD is 3.9 Liter and the AR is 4.2 Liter.. is it the Stroke changing the lobe order ....?? Also one day I may bolt a Turbo onto this AR .Can I use the Natural Asperated Camshaft...? Or do I need a different one because of the forced air from the turbo....? I read the Nonturbo is 18.5.1 Compression and the Turbo engine is 16.5.1 Compression. Think it will damage the engine.....? i'm thinking it should just be more power....? But i'm worried about the difference of Camshaft on a Turbo Engine...Vrs. Nonturbo....Rich...

My motor is 4 cilinders and have 4 rings for piston, but rencently I buy a kit O/H POK452 perkins but this kit have 3 rings for piston. can you please help me? JCB 1550B
