    Hello, I'm a lady. I have always enjoyed watching people fix things and learning what I can. I really enjoy channels that get down to business and explain things well.

    I find it shocking you don't have 3 million subscribers. You are both the most knowledgeable/talented and the most entertaining mechanic on TH-cam.

    Brian, thank you for this video series. Lady A&P in the Green Bay area. I have this same engine in a Massey Ferguson 50E, stagnant for almost 10 years. I've never touched a diesel engine, but you give me confidence that my late father picked up the Chevy 350 of diesel engines and this should be an easy job to tackle. Thank you for your time, patience and simplicity.. your jokes are epic!

    I'm probably never going to work on a Perkins. BUT: I enjoy your personality and I love to see how things work. So here I am.

    Great video and nice chat during the work. Lots of years ago I had to solve a fuel leak on my 4.154 that a couple of years earlier I had fitted into my Bedford CF exAmbulance. The leak was from where the injector pump connected onto the engine, the amount of ‘stuff’ I had to remove just to change a little ‘O’ ring was crazy, 80 bolts in total. When I removed the cam cover I was amazed, I didn’t know that there was no timing belt or chain, but beautiful splayed gears, a work of engineering art. My engine is now currently in the process of being totally overhauled and hopefully in a few days i’ll be back on the road with my 40 year old ‘Ambi’. The engine was out of an even older CF ambulance.

      @@briansmobile1 Cheers Brian . . . i’ll take some video and piece something together in the next couple of days then post it up on my TH-cam channel. I’m not doing the rebuild myself, I thought this time I’d leave it to the professionals with the right equipment, plus I don’t have anywhere to do the job. My trade is Carpentry, I’ve always enjoyed making and fixing things since a kid, Meccano sets definitely helped me with that ability : )

    When I was 22 I built a pump skid using an air cooled Perkins. Great engine and it's probably still running 40 years later.

    S/V Poppycock is really digging your choice of music. The Mrs. and I have ours almost completely torn down and have very many plastic bags with detailed notes; the person who takes this over when we romantically we fall off the roof as a pair is going to be super lucky.

    Love the vids Brian, it's healthy to comment and explain your views, after all, we all are human. No one is perfect. It's nice to hear what you're saying. I can relate on that. I figure we were put on earth to show what we are capable of, think, breathe and do creatively. Right?

    I need to resurrect my 40 yo Perkins 4-108 or it's bye-bye sailboat. I'm an amateur weekend mechanic with no core diesel experience. Your Perkins rebuilds are very informative, well videographed and chatty in a philosophical way. Did 5 sisters really drive you to death defying recreation and youtube vids for male interaction? Many thanks for the useful instruction. Where there is a will there is a way!

      Nice man! That's escalated now hasn't it!? I'm a little jealous. I flew this evening and had a blast. My buddy Troy crashed- had a mechanical failure over a creek and blew up his prop. I did an off airport landing to assist him. He was fine- I flew out his reserve and beacon and gave him a flashlight to hike out. When I picked him up with the truck, he was a mosquito eaten, stinging neddle, sweaty mess! At least he's okay. Video coming soon!

    Hi Brian, thanks for putting out that video on the Perkins 4.236! I have the same motor in my brush chipper. I recently bought a remanufactured replacement to breathe new life into The machine. Upon starting it for the first time it sounded a little rough and after about an hour of use I checked the oil to find that the pan was filling up with diesel! I sent the engine back to the manufacturer for warranty work and they are claiming that when I installed the intake manifold that one of the bolts somehow went to deep and damaged the interior components of the motor. I’m pretty sure that all the bolts were the same size and I used the original factory bolts off of my old motor. Unfortunately they have both my new engine and my old engine ( core) and I can’t seem to find a manual or parts kit that I can cross reference the bolt sizes with. I am in a very hard place now because that machine is my livelihood and I have nothing but a receipt for the $10,000 I gave them and no engine for about two months now! Does their claim but I somehow damage the internals of the motor with a handheld socket sound remotely possible to you?

    Hey Brian. Nathan in Moab. Just picked up a 2004 F150 that was in a ditch crash. No air bag deployment but the bed is crinkled. The fenders are touching the doors at the top. My question would be, should I save the truck and repair the whole front clip, replace bed, fix dents in cab....OR....should I remove the 4.6 and put it in my 85 S-10 pickup. Also if you want to collaborate on this project let me know. I', 4 short hours away.

    • @watsok
      @watsok 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brian, I am retired. Was Electronics engineer, father was a mechanic his whole life, I also built and flew my own hang gliders and I am a amateur radio operator and i maintain / repair my own cars. My interests are very broad..probably too many to focus on one and I think I am running out of time to do everything. I like your repair videos because you do a good job narrating what you are doing and the issues you are having and how to solve them. Also good video quality.
