N20/N26 vs N55: HOW TO GET YOUR BMW 228/328/428 TO COMPETE WITH THE M235/335/435!!

We’re back with another product video for you today where we’re going to tell you how you can get your BMW 228/328/or 428 to compete with the BMW M235, 335, or 435 for only $1250.00 dollars! Yup, you heard me the first time, just $1250.00!     So let’s start by breaking down the different specs of each car.
    The BMW 328i with the turbocharged 2.0 liter 4 cylinder makes 240 horsepower and 255 pound-feet of torque with an MSRP price of 37,000 dollars.
    Then we have the 335i with a turbocharged 3.0 liter, 6 cylinder that makes 300 HP and 300 pound-feet of torque with an MSRP of $43,500 dollars.
    There’s a $7,000 MSRP price difference between the 2 cars but I’m going to tell you how you can get your 328 to compete with the performance of the 335 for the price of $1250 instead of 6-7,000 thousand dollars.
    Step number 1: The Bootmod3 flash tune.
    The Bootmod3 flash tune is a software that is loaded to the BMW 328/428 ECU with an OBD using a laptop. We send you a link to download a file, you load that file from your PC to your car by connecting to the OBD using the enet cable that we provide. Then Bootmod3 calibrates the factory vehicle modules over the OBD port in a matter of minutes.
    Step number 2 is to replace your downpipe!
    Now remember, downpipes are not legal on emission controlled vehicles. They are to be used on race vehicles only, strictly where it’s legal.
    The stock downpipe contains restrictive catalytic converters a.k.a. cats. These cats put additional pressure on the turbo causing a slower spool and prohibits the car from making power on high RPM. By replacing the downpipes with high flow downpipe, you can now run a stage 2 bootmod3 map and make an additional 20 HP and torque without any added pressure on your turbo!
    Step #3 is to change your intercooler.
    Higher turbo boost results in a higher intake air temperature. Higher temperatures will cause the ECU of your car to limit power in order to protect your engine from any damages. This is why an upgraded intercooler is a must on tuned BMW turbo cars because with a bigger intercooler, your car can consistently make its max power safely.
    Step #4 is to change the charge pipe!
    The BMW stock charge pipe is made of plastic, its cheap and unreliable and with the additional pressure caused by higher boost, it is guaranteed to fail and leave you hanging on the side of the road (put some kind of funny picture here). This modification doesn’t add power but it is very important so your car can be reliable!
    With this 4 step setup you can expect a total of 305 HP and 325 TQ compared to the stock 335 which has 300 HP and 300 TQ.
    For example: if the 2 cars were racing, the 328 will get a head start due to the additional TQ and will keep up with the distance since both cars will be pushing the same HP.
    This means you get to take advantage of the better MPG from your 4 cylinder vs the 335 6 cylinder and when needed you can make more power than the stock 335. You also saved yourself 5-6,000 dollars since once you are ready to sell the 328, you can remove the mods and sell them to get most of your money back.

    I blew 8k to make my n20 faster .. had every tune bigger turbo.. fbo deff makes a difference save your money get the 6 then get everything in tbe video

    I really am on the fence about Bootmod3 because I live in Los Angeles and the smog checks here are super strict. Some people say to reflash to stock, smog, then reflash back to your stage 1. But then i hear that smog people can tell you tuned your car and fail you. Is that true?

    But what if the 235/335/435 is also tuned and FBO?
    Jk, but if I could do it over again I would have bought the 6 cylinder. I'd argue that the price difference in new MSRP does not carry over to the used market where most of us buy. The 35 models usually do go for a little more but not a ton. P.S. It's pronounced "boot mode" with the 3 being a backwards e. I got my license through XPH and was even able to use a coupon, thanks again! Intercooler up next!

      I had the option of a 428i with lots of options and 435i with less options - the lease was about the same on the two, and while the 435i was certainly faster in a straight line, it was a lot less fun to drive. The heavier engine threw off the balancing and made it feel nose heavy (it wasn't bad, but compared to the 428i there was a noticeable difference) and it really dove into corners, where the 428i felt more nibble and precise and amazingly perfectly balanced. I like going fast in straight lines, I've owned two Corvettes, a GTO, a Camaro a Mustang an old school 72 Cutlass with some mods - it's fun to gun it at 60mph and have it throw you back in your seat like it's a roller coaster, but you just so rarely get to use that power. But what the 428i does better than anything else I've driven, is just nail the balance, like you feel like you can drive it wide open and put it exactly where you want it, and still keep things under control. Also it's not like there is some big performance gap between the two, you're talking 0-60 being off by like 0.3s, not sure on the quarter but it's under a second I'd guess. Yes, I know you can mod it, blah blah blah, the point is, fun is more important than a slip time that you see once every 4 years.

    So I’m on stage 2 with jb4 , catless downpipe, charge pipe, full mst air intake, muffler delete. Next step is big intercooler. N20 engine. If i switch to bm3 I’ll be getting more power? Does stage 3 even exist for n20’s?

      Next step in my opinion would be an upgraded intercooler. I recommend a 6" core for best results. After that Pure Stage 2 turbo.

      Some intakes are specific to only n20’s while others cater to n26 engines. You can tell by if your intake box has a vacuum line/ hose connecting into the intake (and as well as if you have 2 cats that means you have a n26)

    Wait hold on all this only makes 305 hp? My 328i has just a jb4 tune and I make 305 horsepower? Something doesnt add up

      You are talking about HP, we are discussing whp. Which is the power to the wheels. Per Burger Tuning website (dyno proven), a 328 with Jb4 only will make 268 whp not 300. Once you add the modifications mentioned in this video, you will get the 300 whp

      Stage 2 93 octane: 22%HP / 25%TQ

    Step one, trade in your 4 banger. Step 2 get a used 335i for 8-13 grand ensure it has xdrive otherwise u will need to trade yet again. Step 3 invest 1200 dollars…can expect 400+ horsepower.

      @@fluflammer1 it depends from whom you got them and who installed them for you. Get genuine parts like from FCP euro with life time warranty. Also, car maintenance is a key. How you ride, maintain your car will determine the lifespan of your car. Regular maintenance is important, not just a simple oil change.

      you can easily beat a stock 35i with a tuned 28i with very simple and non-expensive mods. Remember the 335i stock makes 300HP to the crank, that's about 265 HP to the wheels. Stage 2 28i with E85 would beat that. Add an upgraded turbo and its not even close anymore

      @@vijesus no one made the claim that you can beat a tuned 335i with a tuned 328i. Your post says "you will never beat a 35i in a 28i" our response to that is that you can easily beat it if you tune thee 328 and go against a stock 335(which is the vast majority of 335I on the market). Sounds like we agree
