    Ryan, with all of that property, I highly recommend getting a medium-large size tractor with a 3 point hitch on the rear and a pto up front. With this you can get implements like a grader, rotovator, a rear hookup brush hog, a bucket up front. You are going to need this stuff to do basic upkeep even throughout the year. If you ever get stuck, a big 4x4 diesel tractor can pull you out and go anywhere. I know from experience lol. It will be a really good investment and addition to this new property! You are awesome for doing this and I LOVE your content!!

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring

      That hill is a 72% grade. Outback wilderness is rate to climb 40% grades, or 21 degrees.

    • @ericpizarro3084
      @ericpizarro3084 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@JonDZ_Adventuring The Crosstrek almost got it. If it wouldn’t be because of the clearance I think it would climb it. The only Subaru that I believe is much better is the wilderness plus, it has almost 10 inches clearance plus, 277 pounds of torque! I think it will eat that hill.

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericpizarro3084 I’ve witnessed so many things in the AWD offroad/overlanding scene. Because that surface is so loose, not many vehicles have a chance. As Ryan from DrivingsportsTV explained, A 4WD has its center differential mechanically locked so front and rear gets an even 50/50. A-trac then modulates ABS to send power left and right. It also has a low gear transfer case. Despite all that, the 4 runner struggled. That’s a hard obstacle. It’s not surprising the Crosstrek made little process up the hill. You’ll notice that the rear wheels got to the start of the climb (that’s not almost making it). The Outback wilderness is an improved Subaru, it’ll definitely be a little more capable than my old 2015 Subaru Forester XT with 262 tq

    • @ericpizarro3084
      @ericpizarro3084 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JonDZ_Adventuring I agree 100% with you. Still, the Crosstrek did get into the hill. It lacked clearance, and yes that surface is too loose. I am pretty sure that Ryan will try that hill with the Wilderness in the near future. Let’s wait and see. I bet $1.00 on it. Wanna bet???? 😀

    • @JonDZ_Adventuring
      @JonDZ_Adventuring 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ericpizarro3084 haha! I’ll bet you 1 million Doll Hairs that Ryan levels it out a little bit more. I actually recommended that he makes a cement shelf climb. This will make the tests consistent. When other vehicles tear up the track, the test is no longer the same difficulty for the next car.

    These desert type climates are more difficult than people think to navigate. In Idaho for a training with the military we had a hard time navigating the desert landscape because random patches of super loose dirt would appear and just sink even our 8 wheel drive vehicles with lockers on every axle. Was great for recovery training that's for sure.

    12:12 Miss Gore was so dedicated to her work that she forgot to pay attention to the wind direction... :)

    13:02 4--low doesn't lock the front and rear wheels together, you would need a rear, front, and center locker to do that, it's just trying to give a 50:50 power split through the computer. The 4-Runner has a great off-road system.

      4hi and 4low on the TRD locks a transfer case, which is a locked 50:50 front-back. No computers involved. No “center lock” needed because there’s no differential. The computer through ATRAC tries to emulate a front lock. But the rear also has a locker on this TRD ORP. So.. straight locked in the back as well.

    Congrats on the hill. I’d like to come check out the course sometime in my 2019 renegade 4x4. I live in seattle. Lemme know. Cheers!
