Always felt a strange feeling of pity for that Sentinel droid that Revan fixed and later left behind on Endar Spire. It could totaly fit into an escape pod. The Republic salutes you Sentinel #105426884. You've shown these 5 Sith troopers their place
If only the full intelligence could've been restored rather than just making it run a patrol script maybe Revan could've gotten it to follow them to the pod. Imagine if it actually became an important character, developing personality and receiving upgrades as the story went on and perhaps serving as a foil character to HK-47.
I love programming these guys. But i keep remembering seeing one of their blasters on the ground of the Taris Base. But those repeating blasters are damn reliable.
I LOVED how these things looked in SWKOTOR. They're so sleek and shiny, and the face plating gives them a sort of stoic look. I'd make an army of them based on looks alone.
The face mask reminds me of those ancient Greek helmets, and of course the Clone Trooper helmets which I would not be suprised if they were inspired by these droids in-universe.
Friggin’ love droids. Always seemed so damn practical for simple roles all while lessening the loss of sentient life for those roles like gunners, naval crew, infantry, etc. (If programmed decently that is) CIS had so much potential if it weren’t for Ol’ Palpy...
I love how interconnected most of legends was, this is why it is so well loved. Creators bridging and building up to make a richer universe. Now were even lucky to say Star Wars without getting a copyright strike/clame...
Yes! Another KoTOR lore vid! Could you do a video about the Star Forge and the Battle of The Star Forge, such as how the Republic lasted as long as they did against the Sith fleet's seemingly thousands of Interdictors?
Droid rebellions and massacres. The Galaxy does not trust droids for good reason and they intentionally broke them and restricted their development and even retarded it as well to keep uprising from happening again.
I have this and many old republic game droids in my rebellion when my oc finds an abandon wearhouse in the known galaxy and unknown regions along with other old republic tech
Looooveeee this. Please do more old republic era videos! I really enjoy this because even though I’ve played both Kotor games I still don’t know much about the era
Just because they were old doesn't mean they were weak or poorly designed. There were some rather extraordinary droids designed during the Old Republic era. A famous example is HK-47, though he was improved by Revan with Rakatan technology, so not the best example. Another (far more obscure) example is the Devastator War Droid. Designed by Ubrikkian Steamworks as an upgrade to the Sentinel War Droid. What made this model of droid exceptional, was its ability to "continue to fight at over 85% combat efficiency even after losing a limb or other significant system."
Dam, I always like hearing the cost of the products of Star Wars universe actually makes it believable with galactic credits, combine those sentinels with B2s and the software of HK series imagine the carnage available just in droid forces alone
Definitely my favorite battle droid from Star Wars! They look amazing, feel like credible threats, and honestly I think that the Sentinel would wipe the floor with B1s every day of the week!
Its pretty cool that in Star Wars Rebels Thrawn also used droids to protect him. These droids were none other than sentry droids very similar to the dark trooper droids, bigger, meaner, and deadlier than the CIS droids.
CIS Droids with light armor and no shields vs. Old Republic-era droid with thick armor and shields = Old Republic droid with thick armor and shields obviously
If he was able too he should've tried getting this one even older droid model to guard his clone the sith elite warbot now those were some scary droids
Looking at the dates, because the author wrote the novel before episode one came out. Then, the way the studio controlled cannon and allowed licensed developers and writers to review the in house literature for details the game designers wanted some Easter eggs and references to tie cannons together. In world? Eh. Um. So these two droids were examples of engineering, and preserved as art. Due to his habit of taking cultural artifacts and art to murder boner enemies through strats, he came across them and appreciated their effectiveness. After he used then to develop some, thing, he kept them due to there refined capabilities. Maybe their processors were pre some restrictions considering how antsy the SW universe is with droid brains due to multiple droid revolts. Also, looking at those dates made me feel old.
@MetaMerdz Lore put it on your bucket list to bring star wars to those kids in Ewan McGregors documentary...it would be philanthropy and the forces work.
If Vision Of The Future was published in 1998 and George Lucas only started writing The Phantom Menace in 1994, wouldn’t The Clone Wars era droids have not existed yet? Excuse my lack of knowledge but I’m only starting to get into the written side of Star Wars.
I am 99.9% sure "Sentinel Droid" was just being used in the abstract sense. Using "Sentinel Droid" as a generic term for Guard Droid. I don't think the lore's stating that, it's just a miss-connected link on the wook.
Just 1 thing, now I might be wrong but you said at 00:44-00:53 that the ''SIth Empire'' was building their own ''KT 400's'' and thousands of Sentinel Droids but then state that the Republic was busy in the Mandalorian Wars at the same time.. There was no ''Actual'' Sith Empire in explored space at the time of the Mandalorian Wars, only after the War did Revan and Malak go to the ''Unknown Regions'' and come back with an ''Sith Armada''. Perhaps you meant that the Sith Empire (Led by Revan) that came AFTER the Mandalorian Wars (The Next War was The Jedi Civil War) were building these droids and ships in droves??? Unless you are talking about the Sith Empire in the Unknown Regions?? But I don't see how they would have access to KT 400 Transport Ships or Sentinel Droids??
I wonder what the Rebel Alliance would use these droids for (if they chose to manufacture them). If I could manufacture at least 3,000 of them, I would mostly use them for training new recruits for advanced hand-to-hand combat. And use any spares for battle or recon on planets that could be dangerous for any and all biological life.
maybe a cybernetic chip implanted into soldiers? thats probably how id do it. that way a droid or any unmaned weapon system could easily identify friendlies by scanning for the chip. if a soldier goes missing or dies their chip gets turned off so the enemy cant use it
I don’t know if you ever make your own fandom Star Wars ships, MetaNerdz, but I have 2 names you might want to base the ships on Defender-class Battlecruiser Yt-5500 Medium Freighter These are my own names and aren’t official as far as I know
Elmar A. Hannah, not really. The B-1 was designed to be extremely cheap and disposable. Thus the disposability meant the least quality. They weren’t expected to survive there initial engagements. The drodieka and larger destroyers were definitely great. The Magna guard was impressive. They had much better designs.
@@nsatoday It's not just the B-1. It's other droids too and ships and just technology in general that seems to be inferior sometimes as time goes by in the Star Wars universe
Ancient Romes technology devolved in the last few hundred years of its existence because of war and lost documentation. The Star Wars universe has the same effect at play. War destroys records and education suffers. Key scientist don’t keep records due to fear of the enemy capturing it, then they die leaving no one with the knowledge. Seems plausible that things would have cycles
So if you had the planets and the knowledge, you could build an almost indestructible army of combate efficient droids, and deploy a whole legion of them on a planet with in seconds......why not just build these and their ships (forgot it's name)just deploy 2 of them and you have 800 droids ready to go
CIS battle droids of any type just really wouldn't fit Thrawn's tactical paradigm. With the exception of the B-X and the IG series, CIS droids were most effective in massive numbers.

Why did Thrawn ignore CIS droids for the sentinel war droid?
Answer: He saw the prequels and played the old republic game.
It's not a problem if all your droid can do is stand and shoot if everyone can only stand and shoot.
*Laughs in KOTOR combat*
Someone needs to give the Grand Admiral a copy of Republic Commando. :P

The Sentinel Droids are underrated, I wish we could see these jn film
I enjoyed when i sliced a droid and made them better in kotor.

That head moving around looks more suspicious than an “emotionaly” driven soldier
Maybe it does that for the same reason as birds?
Droids, what are the they good for? Absolutely Everything...apparently XD
And always lol

how did we go from this to the B1
Droid rebellions and massacres. The Galaxy does not trust droids for good reason and they intentionally broke them and restricted their development and even retarded it as well to keep uprising from happening again.
@@adventwolfbane true. but if b1s weren't so dumb, we wouldn't of gotten our best moments with them
There's also the fact that B1s can be mass produced. Like, Seperatist could litterally field thousands to millions of them.
They just don't make them like they used to
Cost cutting. The B1 is perfectly capable if given proper programming.
you're just awesome. Every time I watch one of your videos I get completely submerged in star wars lore
Thanks that is an amazing compliment. I'll keep em coming

We need some movies based in the Old Republic. I mean could you imagine the possibilities if we had a movie of the Mandalorian Wars?
I'd never been more thrilled then when I used that old mod launcher to change T3's model to the sentinel droid's :D
I like how star wars tech is basically stagnant. Same basic designs for all the weapons and ships.
Only difference is slight upgrades
Over 4,000 years
Love your videos guys. I really do your May favorite TH-camrs!
Always loved the Sentinel droid.
Hey Meda nerdz lore you've done a lot of ships and stations but have you ever done a review on Centerpoint Station and sinkhole station

I honestly prefer the design of the Sentinel over the B1s and B2s
Fully upgraded with Shields and the Mk 5 version...the clones would have had a hard time dealing with these droids in 22 BBY
If he was able too he should've tried getting this one even older droid model to guard his clone the sith elite warbot now those were some scary droids

this droid is for some reason just i dont know
more sexy for me?

Love those droids and the ships the come with would of ordered 6 orders of them.
Why did The CIS Battle Droids look so toy like and cliche? I am mainly talking about the rank in file battle droids not the bigger more advanced ones.
I’ve often wondered how droids recognition software or systems work....... what stoped them from shooting organics on there own side. Hmm 🤔
