      Forgive me if I'm wrong as I'm not experienced in Star Wars lore, but would slow moving lightsabers even work? I figure they work like some kind of high-frequency blade, so even at slow movement speed, the energy/frequency output would still be negated by the shield.
      More standardized blades I could see, but I would assume your arm would get stuck if you tried any kind of slashing motion.
      Only viable option I could see would be sneaking a blaster inside the shield and firing upon it from inside.
      This is assuming, your arm is simply getting stuck if inbetween, and not harmed, as blaster recoil would probably be enough.

      @YT User radio transmission. The CIS had a network that allowed them to command their droids. Since they were more expensive, and were more aggressive and independent, they were given more autonomy. They "talked" with other droidekas, no commanders, so they were much more autonomous, no centralized command structure in their division, so no sounds, but embedded radios.

    To really understand how terrifying the colicoids were image those large droideka shaped bugs rolling at you with the intent to rip the flesh of your bones. The were hiveminded and behaved like piranhas, eating everything and everyone. And on top of that they were also smart enough to design and produce one of the most deadly droids the galaxy had ever seen. When doing deals with the colicoids it was important to be careful as to not get eaten alive. Just showing your neck (so you had to always walk around with your head down around colicoids) would trigger them into a crazy frenzy and eat you alive!

    If the CIS was a faction that was not a puppet government but rather a official nation how strong do you think it's military would be compared to other sci fi factions like the Galactic Empire from the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov?

    • @RoulicisThe
      @RoulicisThe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Well...Not that great. Yes, their droid army is impressive and has the main feature of not wasting any lives during battle... But it takes a lot more ressources to produce these droids than it is to train living soldiers, especially droidekas.
      Besides, even if they had very good design for some of their battle droids...Most of the CIS droids are crappy (Looking at you B1 droids) or misdesigned, leading to flaws that can be easily exploited.
      So, even as impressive as these droids are, as a military faction the CIS wasn't really that great compared to other sci fi factions

    • @HunhowsShadowStalker
      @HunhowsShadowStalker 5 ปีที่แล้ว +28

      @@RoulicisThe Actually, the B1 Battle Droids were extremely cost-efficient. In order to save money on production, the B1s were actually little more than a Droid chassis with the bare essential components. The CIS focused on "quantity over quality", believing that sending a large amount of cheap droids would be just as effective as a smaller amount of more expensive droids.
      An episode of Rebels clearly showed that, in large numbers, the CIS droids could easily overtake a Clone strike team (as they'd only lost due to damage and lack of maintenance).

    • @RoulicisThe
      @RoulicisThe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@HunhowsShadowStalker Yeah, and look at the number difference in this specific case. Do you truly think this is a case that would happen in a true conflict situation? The B1 were so poorly designed that they could only be effective with an overwhelming number advantage, and even when it happened, mostly during the clone wars, the clones still had better equipment and ended up dispatching entire regiments of B1 despite this number difference.
      Don't misunderstand : having a cheap fodder unit like the B1 can be useful if you have a properly effective unit to back it up : using a squad of B1 to take the fire instead of the droideka while he's spraying the enemy position can be effective...But the CIS obsession in using the B1 absolutely everywhere (from law enforcer to capital ship pilots) was highly detrimental as the B1 was mostly ineffective in all his different roles and was used there only because it was easy to produce and thus replace.

    • @taelim6599
      @taelim6599 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @@RoulicisThe Not to mention that B1s are even dumber than video game enemies and far less accurate. Apparently, aimbots were never invented in Star Wars (though it does explain why cannons on ships require gunners instead of just being aimed by an AI).

    • @RoulicisThe
      @RoulicisThe 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@taelim6599 Exactly. However the CIS proved that they can design correct AI, their "vulture" droids for space-battle are a good enough proof of this. But instead of using this to upgrade their heavy units, by making their tanks AI-controled, they're using B1 to operate them as it's cheaper for them. But flawed as the B1 is, this method is just holding back all their weaponry

Let that sink in. Sifo-Dias's order of clones cost the same as 167,401,681 Droidekas, complete with shield generators, with an extra 66 B1 Battle Droids to spare, and even after THAT, you have 1,200 extra Credits to spend!
    Keep in mind that I just did a quick search to find the cost of the order of Sido-Dias's 3,000,000 clones and using the price margins as described in this video.

    Droideka, my favourite droid. I dont know why, I guess it is the rolling death. Btw, didnt you forgot a thing some of them could do when they were rolling? In one of the Clone Wars episode (Where Yoda and 3 clones should meet a prince or king on a planet/moon, where CIS tried to stop them) was they able to use their cannons as they were rolling.
    P.S. After I went to look on that part, I did made a mistake saying they shot meanwhile rolling which wasnt true. They only somehow had their cannons out, which give me the questions if one of the models of Droidekas was able to shoot meanwhile rolling

    • @evanharrison4054
      @evanharrison4054 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As long as you can make sure to move faster to the side than it can turn, it can't even hurt you.
      Forget the walking speed, this thing turns so awkwardly it's unbelievable. Looks really cool, but outside of narrow corridors, they are at a horrible disadvantage. Overpowered hall monitors is what they are.
      What intrigues me, though, is why they "expand" immediately? That rolling metal thing looks unstoppable. It could easily flatten a few people before expanding and taking care of the survivors. That would be just brutal.

    • @evanharrison4054
      @evanharrison4054 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @YT User Thanks. It was only an educated guess.
      As far as the energy shields go, I think they are calibrated to repel nothing but energy weapons. They probably even work on a specific frequency to be most effective.
      Why waste energy trying to protect against everything when 98% of weapons use more or less the same energy frequency? Ballistic vests are basically designed to only protect against bullets and not much else.
      Since the droideka kind of looks like it would require an RPG to take out in real life, it is logical to assume that the energy barrier is only there to protect against laser burns.
      I have only seen droidekas in I,II,III, so I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that anything other than laser rifles and lightsabers would go right through "the bubble", even you hands.
