I love the intros between him and Sonya. You can tell that he really does like her because he goes between being semi-serious (rare for him) and deliberately saying stuff to annoy her rather than just straight up flirting like with other women in the roster and it works every time. "I haven't even seen the movie!" had me laughing so hard.
Sonya seems like such an unlikable hardass though. I'm not sure if she's been portrayed like this in MK9 and MKX (been years since I played MK9) but I really don't see what Cage sees in her.

Basically Dark Raiden of the original games used it to send his past self that "he must win" message, and in the past it'd crack every time events seemingly were going to lead back to Armageddon...basically a Macguffin (cinematic term for an object whose only purpose is to blatantly drive the plot forward, rather than any actual in universe value it has.) because they never really explain much about it or why it might have been important, and considering all the stuff we find out in 11 it doesn't even matter now, and Raiden "lost it" anyways.
It's I think NRS' way of just saying "forget about it."

One of the good moments in the MK11 storyline was that little squabble between Present Johnny, and Past Johnny mostly because we learned a little more about Johnny's family life pre-MK and how tragic it was somewhat the fact that he hated his dad's guts for putting running a successful business over being a good father is kind of sad, I now see why Present Johnny and Present Sonya had that divorce during the events of MKX Johnny's comment to Sonya about putting work over spending time with him and Cassie and actually trying being a good mother must've been because Sonya was starting to remind him of his dad, and that probably explains why Johnny retired from acting, and got a part-time fight cerography job and actually tried to be a good father to Cassie because he wanted to succeed where his own dad failed and that was doing the job of being a father.

It's perfect because a lot of inspiration for Mortal Kombat came from that movie. Johnny and Liu are definitely inspired by the 2 main characters in it.
