@@joshua2764 They showed him in the MK movie after Johnny Cage was done his scene (this was at the start). And he told Cage about this tournament. But it turned out that Master Boyd was really Shang Tsung who made himself look like him once Cage walked off and Boyd was in the parking lot.

Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa is one of the reasons why Shang Tsung is one of my favorite MK villains of all time.

My god...he's wearing the long coat from the movie, makes reference to an almost completely forgotten character from the movie (Master Boyd) and even references the 'dress' Sonya was made to wear in the movie. God NRS, mad respect for the attention the smallest details.
Many of these intro dialogues are basically a love letter to fans.
Probably one of the best in terms of dialogue.

@@jennifercorbett8640 Yeah nothing against Richard Epcar but his Joker is lacking also the fact that the Joker is even in this game to begin with when he's already in Injustice 1 and 2 and most likely will be in 3 as well makes my blood boil. The dude isn't even a fighter in a game where pretty much every character is a trained martial artist with decades of experience if not centuries in the case of Raiden , Shang Tsung and others I've likely forgotten about. He sticks out like a sore thumb and has no place in a game like this .
I’ve seen and heard people debate their favorite actor for Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Shao Kahn, etc. Never once have I heard anyone argue over who is the best Shang Tsung. That’s because there really is no debate

I always wanted the devs to release something more about Shang Tsung's past. I know MK Conquest kinda tackled a bit of it, like, we learned his sifu's name was "Master Cho" and he used to bang a fellow sorceress called "Omegis", but we still never got to learn real well about his story, i.e. whoever were his parents or siblings, or why exactly was he cursed to become a soulsucker, or how did he drop by at Shao Kahn's court and become the imperial sorcerer just like that?

@@xxplick Well, in the previous time line, ShangTsung and Quan Chi formed the Deadly Alliance to kill Shao Khan and Lui Kang. It devolved into a final battle between the the two sorcerers and Raiden. Raiden was defeated, but then the two turned on each other.
Onaga awoke, and in desperation, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi and Raiden untied their power to stop him, but they barely even annoyed him.
Hell, even Shao Khan resorted to poisoning Onaga because even he was afraid to fight him one on one.
Point being, Onaga is one of the biggest threats to the Realms and waking him up is something even the other villains would want to avoid.

His father, too - 'sonuvabitch had it coming.' Makes me wonder at what age he shot him.
The way Erron speaks of his mother in the present tense makes it sound like she's still alive and giving hell. But then one of his intros with Cassie also from MK11 makes it sound like his mother's been dead for a long time. 'My Ma would've loved you,' Cassie's reply 'Aww, sounds like you miss her bunches' followed up by Erron's 'I hated Ma.'
Erron's change of tense when talking about his mother is odd - unless the exchange with Shang Tsung is meant jokingly, i.e. Erron can't get a break from his mother even in death - which I prefer as he's still the supernaturally long-lived Old West gunslinger instead of some modern day marksman.

I think Shang Tsung was resurrected (already hinted in Ermac's MKX ending) so he already knows what happened.
