Man it feels so good to have good guy, non douchebag, main protag Liu Kang back again after all these years. It just feels right.

Yeah there just hasn't felt like there's been a centralized "hero" character to bring it all together. Johnny, Cassie, Shujinko, Kung Lao, even Scorpion and Sub Zero and a lot of others have sort of been used to fill in the spot but it's never really felt right to me. I'm just glad this edgy phase of "oh we gotta shake things up, lets make Liu Kang bad/dead/an asshole" that arguably started all the way back making him a zombie seems to have finally passed, even if just for now. Douchebag old man Kang in X just made me so beyond tired of it.
@@Kiyosuki We are very much on the same page here! I have been saying this in my comments for a long time! Liu Kang is the hero, this has always been his role in this universe. No one else feels right. Yes, I am also very relieved we're pass this silly shock value thing they did for Liu Kang in killing him, making him a zombie, making him a revenant, giving him a personality that doesn't suit him, etc... The Liu Kang they've presented in MK11 actually makes me feel excited in a way I haven't felt in years, because it actually feels like my favorite character is back! The real version of him I mean! :) I really hope they keep him this way. If not, I'm going to savor this installment for finally bringing the real Liu Kang back!

Liu Kang was so OP that he had to get jumped by two of the most powerful and intelligent sorcerers/characters in the game to be defeated. He's also defeated: Goro, Shang Tsung, Kintaro, Shao Kahn, Motaro, Quan Chi, Shinnok, Scorpion just to name a few

Yes truth is Liu Kang is the one who should have been the face of MK because he is the main protagonist, like Ryu, Kyo, Jin Kazama. Liu Kang has Dragon Ability, which is the logo of MK, and he is the only one who break the 4th wall having the ability to summon the MK Arcade Cabinet. This is all change after John Tobias left the franchise. If Tobias was still in the team, pretty sure he will never let Ed Boon selfishly use his favourite character as the mascot. You guys can google about how Tobias will do to Liu Kang's character if he never left the franchise. Tobias original idea is he will never make Liu Kang die and became Zombie or Revenant. He will never make Liu Kang go dark side. He wanted to make Liu Kang has a son and both him and his son will be the new main protagonist. Since now they finally bring back Liu Kang as the hero, and Kitana at his side now, this idea of Liu Kang's son might happen in the future.

I hope that become canon. It will explain how Liu Kang is so powerful. He straight up defeated Goro, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn and Shinnok with only his pure martial arts and strength. No magic power up, unlike Cage family where they have to rely on their green glow to had a chance to fight Shinnok. This is also make sense why his Fire God form can defeat Kronika because Fire God form is a fusion of two Liu Kang with Raiden's power. Raiden's power is more like additional gift here because the fusion core is Liu Kang's soul and power merge into one.

Unlike Cage family who has to rely on their magic green power, Liu Kang beat Shinnok with his pure mortal strength. So yes it make sense when this Liu Kang merge with Revenant Liu Kang, who has mastered Shinnok's sorcery, then added with Raiden's essence, is really really strong to the point he can defeat Kronika. Is not just plot armor here, it explain well.
@Charles Hastings I'd say since the great king lao is the ancestor to both Liu Kang and king Pao and dragons do exist in the mk universe maybe the Shaolin in the past did indeed travel to the other realms and encountered dragons thus creating dragon style Kung Fu and perhaps worship said dragons or some dragons passed the wisdom of controling chi thus explaining Liu kangs fire

BlackWingedSeraph Yeah, human Liu Kang is still completely undefeated in story mode, save for a fight with Raiden. Revenant Liu Kang is considerably less powerful, as he gets slapped around by Cassie and others. I guess Revenant Liu Kang stopped training or isn't fully dedicated to fighting, and it shows. Human champ Liu is still the best around though.

What's even more interesting is that they are actually cousins :), they both descend from the great Kung Lao.
Both of them are Goku and Vegeta in MK. If you do some research between two of them, trust me you will find both of them share many similar thing with Goku and Vegeta.
