Hi Zdenka, I'm getting phenomenal battery life out of the M50 with stills, in fact it matches my 80D (which has a much larger battery). I don't shoot video, so no idea about battery life there. I have image preview turned off. We see the image before we capture it, so no need to see it afterwards (unless you feel you moved the camera or misfocused for some reason). I have my trash can button set to alternate between LCD screen and EVF. I always shoot using the EVF and use the LCD to move my focus points. I get a minimum of 1200+ shots consistently and more commonly 1600+ shots on a single charge.
Hi There.... yes for photography absolutely no complains it has amazing battery life and I do agree with your tips here... for video it is different though. It is much shorter... Thank you so much for your feedback. Have a great weekend!
That would be solution but since I have all canon lenses... I like to continue with it.... it is great camera only had to figure some things here and there... 😉
😊 hahahaha... you really don't like Canon... :):):) I hear you.... we will see... never say never right? if opportunity comes and I'll see something amazing, yeah... I'll do the switch.

Thank you 🙏🏻 The display shutting off when my hand went near the viewfinder was driving me nuts 😵 When I first got my M50, I even thought it was defective and almost returned it to Canon. Being new to photography beyond 'point and shoot' and the M50 camera, your channel has been very helpful to me. Keep up your great work Zdenka!
I am a new vlogger and I just bought a Cannon M50 Mk II. I was encountering all of the problems you mentioned in this video. Most of the videos out there do not cover what you just did. Thank you so much. I will watch your other videos about this camera.
Nice tips. I've got an alternative to the quick release plates to get around the really annoying battery/card door problem. I use my M50 in a Smallrig cage. I found a small silicon food container cover that fits over the lens like a kurvd cover. Not as thick, so won't protect it from knocks as well, but it's doing the job ok. This one has made a massive difference.
Hi Jeff... love your comment and help. I could love to see the food container....seriously and love the clips you are suggesting.... thanks so much!!!!

After long thinking and comparing 4-5 different cameras, I decided to buy M50 and now I'm waiting to get it. Two biggest reasons for this decision were your videos (and also Potato Jet's videos). Thank you for the tips you have given so far! Looking forward to catch more information in the future too. Next purchase might be some f/2.8 or f/4 lens for it.
Congrats on your new camera... you are going to enjoy it very much... big advice... if you can dont rush into buying too many lenses... rather save up and get perhaps 1 good one. As low F as you can get. You will keep lenses and they hold value, but cameras you might swith in the future which is normal... lenses always stay.. have a great day!
My God, I saw you with the hammer in hand at the beginning and I was afraid for your man ??? Hope he is working properly ! Keep smiling please, your video was very good and interesting.
For the battery door issue I highly recommend the SmallRig M5/M50 cage. I use it on my M5 for photos, videos and shoulder rig and gimbal shots, so basically it never comes off my camera until it's equipment cleaning day. Couple that with one of the quick release plates, (I have a Neewer branded QR plate for the Oben you mentioned) and you're good to go. Plus you can jerry rig the mounting points on the SmallRig cage for multiple other attachments like an NP-F battery adapter plate with a dummy battery DC coupler. I recommend high quality couplers and power cables to avoid shorting your camera. If possible, just buy the Canon one. Great compilation though. Loved the video.
Thank you very much for your commend and feedback. I will need to look at the small rig as few other people mentioned it well. Thank you very much! It is greatly appreciated. Have a great weekend!
@@Diesel6Power hey man thank you for engaging. I have the Canon M5 but it uses the same SmallRig cage. It's certainly much more comfortable, especially if you've been a DSLR user like me. It's a more confident grip and practically feels like it's part of the body. One tiny niggle I have with it, is the main command dial around the shutter button is a smidgen less tactile than when using the camera without the cage, but it doesn't affect the functionality of the dial at all. I'm really nitpicking here and got used to it over time. I personally love my devices to have tactile feedback which is why I bought the M5 instead of the M50. But really, being able to use the battery/memory card compartment with no issues whatsoever is way more important to me than a minor issue which is totally workable. I'll definitely make a video review soon. Since I do a bit of handheld and gimbal work as well, the cage really helps me build up and break down based on my kit for the job.
The battery/memory stick compartment door, I attached a Dji Ronin SC based plate permanently and it solves the problem. It works better if you have a cage and dji base plate... The flash in M50 always switch off by its own everytime I change a battery... got used to it...
Zdenka, congrats for the channel. Regarding the access to memory card and battery access I have found a simpler and cheapest way. Just attached a male/female shoe that gave enough height and attached it to the traditional tripod plate. Doing this way I don’t need ever to take my cam out of the tripod even to switch batteries. Just one more idea. Will keep following you as I learn so much watching your videos. Cheers
Zdenka It's encouraging to see that a beautiful woman can also have a beautiful personality. Hard to find here in America ;))) My concern about the M50 is the cheap feel of the shutter button adjustment dial assembly. The dial and the button feels loose. Has anyone else had this experience?
Wow! WATCH THIS BEFORE BUYING I. I bought it because a friend has one and he was happy with it. He is a photographer!!! This tells me, some brands won’t have it easy with some consumers and they must wish we don’t become big influencers as professionals or youtubers or BOTH!! Thanks for the video.
Thanks for this video! I'm expecting delivery of my M50 MK II kit today, so I'm excited to get familiar with it and using your tips from this and other of your videos.
I don’t have that camera yet and still saving money to buy M50. I love to have that camera. I owned a canon powershot SX30is. I want to upgrade my camera. So happy learning a lot from your reviews. Thank you.
The best way to prevent lens CAP falling off is to attach a lens hood (EW53). That also gives you a lot off advantages. Sunshade and protection in case camera falls to the ground.
Hi i have a problem with my m50. Using an external strobe light when i want to see the composition from the screen even the viewfinder i just see everything dark. Can you help me with it?
You didn't tell busy error when i click the shutter busy option appears on the screen now i can't take pictures because it shows busy on the screen plz help me out to cope with this issue
I have a solution too. Use a L-Bracket for M50. It has an opening for the door and its arca swiss compatible. But, of course, you need to have a tripod arca swiss compatible too. I have a review for this L-Bracket in my channel (In portuguese).
I have an M50 and a Rode Go mic. When you record video remotely via the canon camera control app on an iPhone or iPad you get terrible audio feedback making the footage unusable. Have you noticed this issue. It doesn’t happen with other mic I tried and I read that it is a problem with this mic. It looks like you have that mic as well. Have you come across any solution to this major problem. Thanks.
This is very good question Mark. I didn't tried it yet. I'll keep it in mind though... I will try it with my Android and also see what other people say... thank you very much for pointing this out. Have a nice day. 👊
hello, is M50 mount is strong enough to hold canon 24-105mm f4 or 24-70mm f2.8 on a tripod? i just scare it will break the lens mounting. or do you think thats mount is quite strong to hold it? thank you...
You attach your tripod to those lenses directly if they have attachment ring. Otherwise it is a strong enough yes. I don’t think they would release it if it was not strong enough. 🎥🎬😊📸
I have a SmallRig 2168B cage which has a built-in arca plate. I also have a dummy battery connected to an external SmallRig battery pack mounted on the SmallRig cage that accepts NP-F750/F770 type batteries. These batteries can power the camera in video mode for hours.
Hi Zdenka ! Hope you will be fine. Will you please guide me which camera is best for vlogging if one have the options i.e. Canon G7x Mark II or Canon M50? will be waiting for your valued suggestion
Surprised your not using a A7iii or a EOS R. I have the EOR R, with the EOS R can use all your DLSR lenses. the EOS R is really good for video and the 35mm makes it fairly compact. You can crop the sensor and zoom in too is needed.
I decided to go with cheap camera because I needed only for vlogging. I do have other DSLRs here. But lately I’ve been thinking about switching to Sonny to be honest. 🎬🎥😊📸
Has anyone had a problem with it giltching? I’ve started recording videos and out of nowhere a green screen appears, it pauses and then after 5 seconds a black screen comes on but lose all the footage I just recorded ... is it the camera or could it be the memory card? 🤔 Oh & I got it like 1.5 years ago
@@ArielNicole no I was thinking about getting a new memory card but wanted to see if I can call canon customer service to see if they can tell me what’s wrong with it
I love your reviews. Very to the point and you point out issues that affect ordinary users without trying to gloss over or minimize their impact on the functionality of the product. Thank you.
You are so welcome. I think all products are great and there will be always something we will point out... I am all about learning how to use it to it's full potential and be very realistic about it....
Any opinions on how to fix a banding issue with the Canon M50 with an Godox AD200 HSS, when I take photos? Or is there a way to switch from Electrical Shutter to Mechanical Shutter?
You are very welcome. I am glad this video helped... every camera needs adjustments it is just normal... there is not a perfect product out there where you don't need to get anything specific or change anything about it.... have fun with your camera. It is a great little thing, you are going to love it. 😊🌴📸📽
Hi Zdenka, I am a happy owner of the Canon EOS M50. Just wanted to thank you for the wonderful videos! You are an amazing photographer, coach and woman!
Used the camera for the first time last night to record me drawing. I was drawing for 4 hours and I know the camera only records for 30 mins at a time (I’m happy to just press record again) but it made no warning sound to let me know it had stopped recording, so several times I had no idea it had stopped, or how long for.
Quick question. I have been loving your videos. Would you recommend the m50 over the 80d? I have a tight budget so not sure which to go for. Are they're any image quality benefits to the 80d? I solely only shoot photos and do not shoot video and have no intention to. I do not vlog either. I am mainly a hobbiest but want the best quality I can get for my money. I started with a bridge Lumix fz82. Then moved to an Eos m100 which I still have and intend to keep as a backup no matter which new camera I go for. I just can't decide. Any advice would be really appreciated.
do you recommend canon 800D over m50 for overall performance? since m50 has digic 8 processor does it has advantage in image quality over the 800D? 4k is not what i am looking for but good focus which taking picture and video does count.
I wish I could answer it but I cannot. I never tested 800D so I really cannot say. M50 would be more suitable for video, 800D is more gor photos... j hope this helps.
@@ZdenkaDarula does the eye focus feature and the focus points (it has double the focus point than 800d) of m50 are for videos only or it actually uses that eye focus and more focus points on pictures as well? and what abt shutter ? thank you for answering so fast :)
+1 on the smallrig. That thing saved my camera when I dropped it. How about a lens hood for the 15-45 lens. It'll help to keep your lens cover on. Great video!
I'm recording a video at 60fps so when i play it back later at 24fps, it will look smooth. I notice that, within the M50, i can play the video on slow motion to re-watch it and it looks great. But is there a way to save it as a slow motion video file? I only see the ability to edit the length of the video and re-save it.
Hi and thanks for putting out a great video. I just purchased an m50 and I'm sure that I will experience some of the same frustrations with that you had. But thanks to your video I know how to resolve those issues. Thanks again and I look forward to your other videos!
Hi Sharon. Congratulations on your new camera. I am sure you are going to love it. Every product, every camera will have some challenges but I am sure you will be very happy with it.... have lots of great shoots!!!!!
Hi Zdenka! Thank you for telling us about the memory cards. After watching your video I started to dig into what writing and reading speeds are. Last night I got the SanDisk Extreme Pro SDXC UHS-1 Card, 128GB, speep up to 170 MB/s. I LOVE IT!!!! Just downloaded video and stills in one minute compared to 20 minutes with my very old slower card. AMAZING! Love it. Thanks for the video, you helped get me to start the research. You also mentioned the Glorich ACK-E12 Replacement AC Power Adapter Kit for my M50. If you haven't gotten it yet, I recommend it highly. I LOVE IT. Just to not have to worry about recharging in between shoots is AMAZING. Thanks again for your fun videos. Happy Shooting, Ivy.
I have a T7i and I'm thinking about getting a M5 as my main shooter. You can get a refurbished M5 direct from Canon for a little over $400. I've seen a couple of your videos and find them to be very helpful. Thanks.
Hi, New to Canon M50 and videoing. Some of my videos when transferred to computer have thick coloured lines going through them. The transfer process says, "Corrupted file". Basically they are spoiled. Not sure if it is the SD card or if not closing the video properly or playing back on the camera before transfer causes this problem. Happens to 1 out of 5 videos. Thanks F
I am very sorry to hear this. I unfortunately don’t know worries that could be it could be the SD card I would just format it few times every time you using the card you should format. Otherwise I honestly don’t know. 🎬🎥📸
my EOS Mark II froze the frames in my 30 min video from 12 min. on! Sound was fine. Video was great up to the 12 min mark. I'm so dissapointed! that was a lot of work down the drain. Any idea what happened?
this video made my day! I had this problem of screen just going off when i want to setup something in the camera. You made it so easy and saved me big time !>> Much love thank you once again!

That battery door problem was a real pain. Here in Japan in Yodobashi Camera store, I found a plate by peakdesign dot com that can be oriented in such a way to avoid blocking the door. The best thing is that it fits in both the Manfrotto RC2 quick release shoe as well as in an Arca Swiss clamp. So, I can easily put it on my Manfrotto travel tripod or my 5k gorilla pod without changing the plate.
Thank you very much for sharing it with us. That is very interesting... yes the door problem is probably the biggest problem with me absolutely agreed... 😕
Hi there! Very nice and informative video!!! I have a question. How many photos you usually take with one battery charge? Give or take... The reason I'm asking is because I have a serious problem with my M50, taking only 100-120 photos per charge. Of course I've taken all "measures" to protect battery life (Eco mode on, I'm only using EVF, turn off the screen, etc etc) but no matter what I do the result is the same. I really don't know what to do... Thanking you in advance!
Thank you for your comment. To be honest I have to do testing myself... I was shooting a wedding with M50 this weekend first time and I am not sure if the battery was fully charged or not. I did 90 photos and then the battery got low... so I am not sure. I will have another wedding soon and then I can answer. I am 100% planning on making a video about using the camera at the wedding and what experience I had with it. That will happen after July 2nd... :) but you actually might be right. It all depends how much you use screen I guess...
I really like your videos! You’ve got a great, bubbly personality, and your M50 videos are very helpful. I learned more about the autofocus settings of my M50 in a 10 minute video of yours than I have in 6mos of owning the camera. Thanks! New sub!
Thank you SO much for this tutorial. I could not figure out why my screen kept shutting off when my hand moved across the back of the camera. I was about to take it back to the store and return it for another one because I thought this one was broken.
hi Zdenka, thanks for your video, learning a lot from you, i am ready to choose M50, but they said have 4K crop factor, what is that? and can it be solved using Viltrox ?
Would you advise the m50 or the nikon z50 I want fast autofocus, sharp video and photo, least rolling shutter and a screen that which I could see myself. Thanks!
Great helpful video! I am having trouble getting an external mic to work. I have tried two different mics and one provided a loud 'white noise' sound and the other provides no sound whatsoever. I have set the audio recording setting to 'Manual', but I still get nothing. Have you had this problem as well?
I’m sorry to hear that. I didn’t change anything and I keep everything on automatic when it comes to sound. Take it to a store to see if everything is OK with the camera. 😊📸🎥🎬 Or do a factory reset.
@@ZdenkaDarula thanks for responding. I figured out the problem with the second mic...i hadn't plugged the adapter in tightly enough. SMH!😅 it works fine now.
Thanks, Z. I just ordered the neoprene cover and SD card you rec'd--and recently added the 22 mm lens to my kit. Still figuring it all out, with your help and others'.
How do you like the 22 mm lens? Is it a perfect lens for filming most of the time? Im asking because it has been offered as a workaround for a small problem with using the canon m50 kit lens with the Feiyu tech G6 Plus.
@@beaublack1407 Thanks. My only interest is for vlogging. I believe that the issue with the Feiyu tech 6 Plus can be solved by removing the rubber eyepiece on the viewfinder thus eliminating the problem with the axis crashing up against the camera. But I have just watched a great video explaining why and when a fixed lens is better than a kit /zoom lens and the reasons are pretty important, both in photography and vlogging, so perhaps having a fixed 22 mm lens is a good investment given that is the "ideal" focal length for most video.
Really informative video. I use a screw on shoulder strap for my camera which fits across my body. I find it more comfortable to carry and great for supporting camera shots as it crosses over my shoulder it doesn’t pull so much on my shoulder.
I absolutely hear you. That is a great solution for sure. I have this camera strap for 2 cameras so it is on my shoulders and have camera on each side... that way my neck doesnt hurt... my big issue during wedding shoots.
definitely the strap. I hated it when I was vlogging and it would flap everywhere. But then today I was carrying around the camera and I totally wished I had the strap on because I was doing point and shoot stuff.
Great tips!! I just bought it and I started using the m50 for my vlogs and its amazing. For the battery life issue, I just bought 2 extra. Super cheap and came with charger. But I'll probably get that wired one too. Oh and a small rig case
Hi Paulo... thank you for compliments.... everyone is suggesting the small rig... apparently you can access the doors no problem... I will most likely get it too.. :):):) Have a nice day! 🌞😀
I dont know if you've had this 'issue', but when I shoot vidoes of me talking it always appears to come out backwards, or flipped. Like the video image of my face, it looks flipped or something. I have also noticed this on Instagram. I have no idea if you know what I'm talking about but it's frustrating me and I dont know what to doooooo!

@@ZdenkaDarula you won't regret the SmallRig. 😁 But that's just me. And thank you for all your efforts towards content. Respect!

@@ZdenkaDarula Thank you! You have an awesome one too!:)
Bravo Zdenka. I just bought m50 and your video is very helpful
Thank you for your support. Enjoy your new camera 📱📷📹📽🤗
Cheers
Awesome tip ! thank you very much. 🎥🎬📸😊
Hi my Canon M50 external microphone is not working earlier it's was working.

My concern about the M50 is the cheap feel of the shutter button adjustment dial assembly. The dial and the button feels loose. Has anyone else had this experience?
Hm.... I am using it now 2 years and nothing got broken. Works like a charm. 🎬😊🎥📸

The best way to prevent lens CAP falling off is to attach a lens hood (EW53). That also gives you a lot off advantages. Sunshade and protection in case camera falls to the ground.
Unfortunately not suitable for video where you need to use filters

To be honest I never experienced it so I really don’t know

so did you film this video with canon m50?
I don’t remember anymore... this is old one..... either M60 or M6 Mark ii if I had at at that time
For photography Canon M50 or Sony A6000.... Which one is better
That is hard to say... you should go to store and see if you like the images and camera. Test it there. Canon has better color science
I have a solution too. Use a L-Bracket for M50. It has an opening for the door and its arca swiss compatible. But, of course, you need to have a tripod arca swiss compatible too. I have a review for this L-Bracket in my channel (In portuguese).
Thank you very much for sharing
Have you ever had a screen scramble problem or the battery re-install problem where it won't turn on even if the battery is fully charged?
Hm.... I never had that problem or never heard about it... sorry to hear that... 😥📷📽📹

Thank you very much for sharing. It looks like you have a good set up.
Would you suggest any other camera in same budget which is better than M50?
Hm... I honestly know only this one. I don’t work in a store so I cannot suggest one. Sorry 🎥😊📸🎬
Zdenka Darula thankyou .
How would you rate the m50 4k video quality after you solved the problem?
Is the 8bit 4:2:0 too low for colour grading plus video noise reduction ?
I dont really film much in 4K because of the massive crop and no autofocus .... otherwise I think the quality is good.

I really like the flip out screen to the side... for vlogging it is just perfect....for other things I reach for my DSLR.... 🌞📱📽📷📹

Hi Zdenka, I am a happy owner of the Canon EOS M50. Just wanted to thank you for the wonderful videos! You are an amazing photographer, coach and woman!
You are very welcome. I am very happy that you are getting lost of information from my channel.
Used the camera for the first time last night to record me drawing. I was drawing for 4 hours and I know the camera only records for 30 mins at a time (I’m happy to just press record again) but it made no warning sound to let me know it had stopped recording, so several times I had no idea it had stopped, or how long for.
I am sorry to hear that.... that is not good
Quick question.
I am sorry I am not familiar with 80d... but M50 is better for video... I would look into dslr for photography
do you recommend canon 800D over m50 for overall performance? since m50 has digic 8 processor does it has advantage in image quality over the 800D? 4k is not what i am looking for but good focus which taking picture and video does count.
I wish I could answer it but I cannot. I never tested 800D so I really cannot say. M50 would be more suitable for video, 800D is more gor photos... j hope this helps.
@@ZdenkaDarula does the eye focus feature and the focus points (it has double the focus point than 800d) of m50 are for videos only or it actually uses that eye focus and more focus points on pictures as well? and what abt shutter ? thank you for answering so fast :)
no all focus features work for photo as well.... in all modes..

+1 on the smallrig. That thing saved my camera when I dropped it. How about a lens hood for the 15-45 lens. It'll help to keep your lens cover on. Great video!
I am still thinking about the small Rig...🌞 lens hood? I might grab that.. thanks for suggestions! 😁🌻🏖
I am sorry I don't have answer for you now... I will need to look into it. 😊

Hi, New to Canon M50 and videoing. Some of my videos when transferred to computer have thick coloured lines going through them. The transfer process says, "Corrupted file".

How do you like the 22 mm lens? Is it a perfect lens for filming most of the time? Im asking because it has been offered as a workaround for a small problem with using the canon m50 kit lens with the Feiyu tech G6 Plus.
@@VistasdelMar2008 I like it, but I don't love the prime. And I've not vlogged with it---which might make better use of its being fixed.
Yes I hear you... I have totally love and hate relationship with the strap.... and this removable strap should solve it...
Great tips!! I just bought it and I started using the m50 for my vlogs and its amazing. For the battery life issue, I just bought 2 extra. Super cheap and came with charger. But I'll probably get that wired one too. Oh and a small rig case
