Getting cinematic footage with the Canon M50 starts before you even hit the record button.
In part one, I show you the best Canon M50 video settings and how you can set up your camera to give you a great starting point for when you’re ready to start shooting.

Just got my M50 this week, and have watched about 3-4 video tutorials on how to set up my camera for videos. Your video is clearly at the top of my list. Easy to understand especially the menu buttons which are already driving me crazy.

This was excellent. Thank you for putting it together. Just picked up a Sigma 18-35mm today and paired it with my M50. Looks ridiculous, but the picture out of the pairing is pretty incredible.

I've only had my M50 for about a couple of weeks, then started looking at other (more pricey) cameras, but these videos have made me love it again and stop looking. For now.

As always, a great tutorial! Do you know if there is a way to lock the shutter speed? There are often times that I accidentally rotate the shutter scroll wheel as I press record and alter the shutter speed; not noticing until after putting the footage into post. Thanks for the awesome videos!

EXCELLENT and very helpful..you'd be a great teacher. If I might suggestion one thing for beginners as well - when I got my camera and started playing around, I couldn't figure out why my settings weren't matching what you were showing....and I FINALLY figured out my camera came delivered with the setting at PAL and not NTSC. Who knew?! For us real basic goofs out there, maybe add this to your Part 1 info.

Where did the option go to put the screen to sleep using a button on the Mark ii?
Best explanation of the IS and other features. Thank you! I def misunderstood the IS options. The M50 with focus peaking is great with older but fantastic and cheap lenses.

I'm new to the M50, & I thought there was a glitch in mine with the screen switching off and on when I went to touch the screen! Your tip about turning the LCD/EVF to Manual is a fantastic life hack and just saved me a lot of frustration!
