Welcome back to Cardboard East where I play board games from Asia and share what I find. Today, I talk about another Japanese game on Kickstarter, My-town (マイタウン)! More and more Japanese publishers are launching their games on Kickstarter, which is extremely exciting as it's the best way to get games from Japan! I'll give you a brief unboxing of the game, teach you how to play, and share my initial impressions. Welcome to Cardboard East!

I want to have this one and play it ^_^
Great review as always!!!
@@ClubOtaku Thanks!
I sat here thinking, "it's monopoly" over and over again. But as you got deeper into the cool twists, turns, and nuances around gameplay there looks to be a good design. I wish this was also on the BGG Crowdfunding Countdown to get more eyes on it.
@@chgoe oh that’s totally fair! I was thinking the same thing when I read the rules, but once I played it, I was able to enjoy the subtle differences. But even those subtle changes were able to completely alter the gameplay experience!
The video has a high pitched noise throughout the whole thing, like dog whistle level. This is my first video I've watched of yours so idk if it's just a one time thing. Just wanted to let you know! Also, the game looks super interesting!
@@knomey oh wow! I didn’t notice that while editing. Thanks for the feedback!!
@@knomey I didn’t hear it, and I pick up on high pitch sounds 🐕🐾
A giant hamburger over a burger place would be rad
@@FanKiyoshi RIGHT?! Giant taco, giant book, giant cat?!? The US has a giant donut. Why did this trend not continue?!
Hard to like this one based on the looks, but I do like the illustrations on the cards.
@@ex1stgames That’s fair. The color palette would have trouble penetrating the western market in the 2020s
every game is better than Monopoly, Monopoly was created not to be a game
Fair points. Though I’d argue that regardless of Lizzie’s original intentions, Monopoly exists as a game today. Also, while I’m hyper aware that many gamers in the hobby loathe Monopoly, I strongly disagree that every game is “better” because I’ve played some games that definitely needed more development.
It's fair to hate it cuz it was made to be hated, not loved
