For those curious about Shut Up and Sit Down, Quinns has suggested Blood on the Clocktower, maybe Tigris and Euphrates? Tom has suggested Oath. Not sure about Matt or Ava. Matt has said that he's played a ton of Quacks of Quedlinburg and Gloomhaven.
Quedlinburg is just so much fun. I usually play these 3 hour epic games and I think Quedlinburg is horrendously ugly but it's so easy to get in to and everyone is just having a blast with the push your luck mechanic.
I think this really highlights the importance of replayability when it comes to making someone's absolute favorite game. Sure, you might enjoy a game you've only played 3 times, but to be your favorite there needs to be something drawing you back. The deckbuilding and multiple characters of Dune: Imperium, the engine building and diversity of cards in Terraforming Mars, the asymmetric factions of Root. I was really surprised to see so many different preferences. Somehow I suspected more overlaps than the few there were. I suppose that speaks beautifully about how diverse both the boardgame space, and we human beings more broadly, are❤️
I think what you end up putting on your #1 spot is heavily influenced by the people you play it with, especially on your first experience, and what themes you personally vibe with. And then of course the level of complexity and challenge that you're comfortable with. So to me it's not that surprising that people's favourites vary so greatly.
Yup! You can say that for a lot of things, not just games. What surprises me is the large number of more complex games on here! Those are my kind of games and not the kind of games that are widely enjoyed! I think the majority like simple games.

Meh, I'm glad to hear that they're not included because they suck in my opinion. They've admitted to often only having played games once before reviewing them, bring up their Leftist politics in ways that attack anyone who disagrees with them, and more. Oh yeah, they're entertaining but how thoroughly are they really testing the game in just one playthrough? I used to watch and buy board games based on what they said but got annoyed because some were total duds. Then I learned about that and completely ignored their opinions from then on. The political thing really irks me because I hate when non board game talk is brought up in discussions about board games or while playing them. It's a pet peeve of mine as it's so annoying to discuss sex, politics, or religion in irrelevant conversations. I don't care about it at that time. I'm not there for that. I'm there to roll dice, play cards, etc. Also, it's ironic that the name of their channel is "Shut Up and Sit Down" since they don't shut up. So... Who is supposed to be shutting up? Those who disagree with them or just don't feel like hearing it? Honestly though, it doesn't matter if I agree with the person or not. I don't want any conversations about sex, politics, or religion at the gaming table. Discuss it another time.
@@RandomPerson-nd2ey This is why I love BoardgameBollocks, no bullshitting and certainly no politics. He even calls out other reviewers sometimes, like the hipocrocy of the two girls who hated on Viticulture World because you could play as a person who did some atrocious things yet their favorite game is A Feast For Odin, playing as vikings who in history invaded and pillages Anglo Saxon’s amongst others.
Great video! New subs here! Man, You have to do Part II of this video! as you missed a good few: Jamie Stegmaier; Board games Ramblings; Chairman of the Board; The broken Meeple; Board of It; and so many more (which happen to be my most watched channels)
... Radho, Pair of Dice Paradise, Board Game Brawl, Scott Nicholson (the O.G.), Girls Game Shelf, Starlight Citadel, Board to Death, Black Board Gaming, Hungry Gamer... These are just ones off the top of my head (there's a few more, but I'm excluding their recognition). Most of these channels are still active as well.
Dune Imperium with Rise of Ix makes my list too. My group are split on Immortality, we're trying a few games with Immortality but without RoI... certainly it shakes up the meta
I used to join a board game party, where I see someone playing feast for Odin. Me and my friends have tried several different games, and then I see them still playing the same run. In the end it last about 5 hrs? That's so heavy for a board game lol
It's out of print now, so less people talk about it. It's also fairly old now so anyone getting into board games within the last 5 or so years probably hasnt played it. It is amazing though.
Huh, there are some really interesting titles on the list! I usually always say Dominant Species as my #1, but it's hard to really choose. Runners up are Feast for Odin, Ark Nova, Food Chain Magnate, Legacies, Rise of the Gnomes, Unfair, and 1846, in no particular order. :)
This is an excellent video! My number 1 card game is Lorcana. My number 1 role-playing game is Vampire the Masquerade (V20/V5). My number 1 board game is Hero Quest. My number 1 over all tabletop game is Avalon: The Resistance.
Nobody picked my all-time favorite - Coffee Traders! It’s a perfect mix of mechanics that seamlessly segue from phase to phase of the round. No randomness, and 100% open information. Just enough player interaction, but no “take-that”. And, you are constantly engaged even in a 5-player game because you can piggy-back on other players’ actions. A perfectly-balanced game!
nice good pick,,i love dune Imperium,,i was not feeling it on my 1st play but when i played the 2nd time i realize how good it is and why its in of some or most peoples no.1 lots of mechanics mesh together in a very good way, its my no.4 right now,, my no.1 is bloodrage :)
Am I imagining or there is a great correlation between nationality and the choice for best game, I'd love to see a top ten list for different countries, maybe a wise youtuber could do a video about it, or BGG could create a search criteria for this.
My TOP5: 1, Through the Ages 2, 7 Wonders (the original, not the awful remastered version) 3, Terraforming Mars 4, Harry Potter: Death Eaters Rising (As a fun party co-op game) 5, Wingspan
7 wonders is top of my list, I think. I was thinking about it while watching the video and it may be one of the few games I’ve played hundreds of times and it hasn’t burned out. Still very exciting to play. Wingspan is a new favorite. Quickly climbing the ranks
yah.. you missed a couple youtubers, but this was a lot of work. Thank you for doing this. I haven’t been watching as much gaming videos as of late due to time. So this was pretty awesome to see nost of the #1s all compiled in one place. As for your comments of Dune: Imperium, I couldn’t agree more. I litterally gave the same opinions almost word for word the other day. I don’t think I could go back to Vanilla DI. Rise of IX is core to the game for me. But the Immortality had nothing bad and I think if you own DI, you should own this too.. I just don’t think I need to play with this expansion every time we play it.
There is so much pressure in this hobby for people to put on a smile and show a lot of energy regardless of how natural it feels. People can be interesting in so many other ways. It's fascinating to see people trying to organize their thoughts and communicate why a game is their favorite. In large part, when they pick this game, they are choosing what kind of gamer they want to be seen as.
My favorite boardgame is Cthulhu Wars by far. It's just complicated to obtain it, or to gather enough people to play it decently. But it's the best experience I've ever had with a boardgame.
Jon gets games, SU&SD, Liege of games and King of Average did not have those I assume ? Ah how about Gaming rules and The Broken meeple ? Also Paula deming, whatch it played ?
I played Bus one night as a random join a game. Its one of the best games i've played Which was a bit of a shock given I play quite a lot of boardgames both casually and at the tournament level. Just wish it wasn't impossible to obtain.

Spirit Island is my favorite (disclaimer: only for right now, could change!)-but I haven't played most of the games mentioned in the video. Love the board gaming space, such a deep hobby.
Very cool vid, keep up the great job man! As a fellow D:I connoisseur, I find Immo quite on spot, giving alternate routes of earning VPs and partially shifting the focus from shipping (which still stays awesome and complemented/powered by the experimentation cards): decisions increase in relevance, when every agent-card you play in the early turns means giving up something else. Also the atomic mechanic feels needed, to balance the increased power of deck-building and refresh a stagnant row.
also: quite some interesting ones missing no pun included, meet me at the table, board game bullocks, the king of average (from top of my head) (and SU&SD as others pointed out)
since we discovered Gloomhaven in the pandemic, we are totally hooked as a group. It's actually unhealthy... I can't think of any game that made us meet more than once a week to play (as adults, all with families and jobs etc, 40mins drive). Thank you GH! :) Frosthaven imo has made this already awesome game so much better.
You mean selected, not curated. Nothing here was or is being curated. Learn what the word means. Collating means that things are put in a specific order. The order here has no meaning, so collating is also misused in your comment.
And here im just playing Carcasonne for the millionth time. Its such a good game thats so easy to learn but gets so much tougher the more you play vs the same opponents.
Shut up and sit down. No pun included. 2 board game channels I missed in this collection. But awsome video and great idea. Well put together. (Only thing that "bothered" me was the parts where the games were represented by digital versions. But that is nit-picking from my side perhaps.) Great job!

🤓
was looking forward to some sort of break down at the end
Absolutely love TI4. Hard to get my friends together to play it because of how long it is but it’s a blast.
I also missed SD&SU, most of Watch it Played, Board Game Geek, Rahdo, Tabletop Toolson and Game Night!
@@Sweetestsadist 3 minute board games, thinker themer, the rest of the dice tower
I would love to see a video of board game designers' favourite games of all time.
Dune Imperium with Rise of Ix makes my list too. My group are split on Immortality, we're trying a few games with Immortality but without RoI... certainly it shakes up the meta
Jesse from Quackalope did say his number 1 is Bus but we all know it's really Kingdom Death. DON"T DENY IT JESSE!
I used to join a board game party, where I see someone playing feast for Odin. Me and my friends have tried several different games, and then I see them still playing the same run. In the end it last about 5 hrs? That's so heavy for a board game lol
Nice vid. Blows my mind to see nobody talking about Battle star Galactica and its expansions. Its so freaking good.
Wait where’s BG Bollocks? He’s the best. At least you had Jon Purkis.
There’s games here that I have, some I would love and some I’ve never heard of.
Very cool idea! And you actually included my pick as well - awesome! ☺️
Now all we need is someome brave enough to go through this video and just provide the list of games in the comments.
Tremendous compilation. You deserve major credit, Orski. That was fun. Thanks.
Aye, thank you for including me - very cool list you've pulled together, a lot of great games and channels! 😊
Sully with the true No1 game, love it so much
Yeah for Dune Imperium! My # 1 of all time with Ix
nice good pick,,i love dune Imperium,,i was not feeling it on my 1st play but when i played the 2nd time i realize how good it is and why its in of some or most peoples no.1 lots of mechanics mesh together in a very good way, its my no.4 right now,, my no.1 is bloodrage :)
quite a lot of variety to this list, is something I did not expect
Am I imagining or there is a great correlation between nationality and the choice for best game, I'd love to see a top ten list for different countries, maybe a wise youtuber could do a video about it, or BGG could create a search criteria for this.
as a social deduction lover i am in love with blood on the clocktower
My TOP5:
1, Through the Ages
2, 7 Wonders (the original, not the awful remastered version)
3, Terraforming Mars
4, Harry Potter: Death Eaters Rising (As a fun party co-op game)
5, Wingspan
7 wonders is top of my list, I think. I was thinking about it while watching the video and it may be one of the few games I’ve played hundreds of times and it hasn’t burned out. Still very exciting to play.
Wingspan is a new favorite. Quickly climbing the ranks
Root
then Feast for Odin seems to have the most #1 in this list.
Baffled as to why Snooze Through the Ages is rated higher than Nations. It has so much downtime waiting for other players!
yah.. you missed a couple youtubers, but this was a lot of work.
Happy to see Bus, and Agricola mentioned.
My top 5 lately has been
1. Agricola
2. Hansa Teutonica
3. Bus
4. Citrus
5. Carcassonne
Played Carcassone as a kid, nice.
100% agree with you on the two dune expansions. Also great video....although lame how serious everyone is.
Thank you! And yeahh there are definitely some folks that took this way too seriously
Awesome! Enjoyed! Hope you can continue to update it and expand it in the future.
Great video! Now all we need is the same format for the number two's...
Haha just keep working my way down everyone’s lists
I have so many favorites board games. Arkwright, High Frontier, Voidfall, Through the Ages, Great Wall, Star Trek Ascendancy and Mage Knight 😊
My favorite boardgame is Cthulhu Wars by far. It's just complicated to obtain it, or to gather enough people to play it decently. But it's the best experience I've ever had with a boardgame.
A bit shame it is super overpriced, even at retail. Now at 2nd hand market in the EU it is not even worth looking for.
‘Chaos in the Old World’ is mine, I think…
Jon gets games, SU&SD, Liege of games and King of Average did not have those I assume ? Ah how about Gaming rules and The Broken meeple ?
Also Paula deming, whatch it played ?
Addendum: Shelfside is Ashton, Daniel's Fave currently is Frosthaven iirc
i wonder if same for professor Meg now
Forbidden Island is still my favorite. No, you cannot change my mind
Forbidden Island is awesome 🧐
“Every” board game reviewer. Lol.
Wow, thank you for the work Orski.
Waiting for the 2024 version!
Why would that be any different? So many people’s favourite game of all time changed in the last 12 months?
I played Bus one night as a random join a game. Its one of the best games i've played Which was a bit of a shock given I play quite a lot of boardgames both casually and at the tournament level. Just wish it wasn't impossible to obtain.
very cool I think the only 2 that I could think of that were missed were 3-minute board games(spirit island) and board game bollocks(Cyclades)
for me, my top right now 5 are -
1. terraforming mars
2. twilight imperium 4
3. undaunted stalingrad
4. azul
5. maria
Spirit Island is my favorite (disclaimer: only for right now, could change!)-but I haven't played most of the games mentioned in the video. Love the board gaming space, such a deep hobby.
Bollocks should definitely have been included
Very cool vid, keep up the great job man! As a fellow D:I connoisseur, I find Immo quite on spot, giving alternate routes of earning VPs and partially shifting the focus from shipping (which still stays awesome and complemented/powered by the experimentation cards): decisions increase in relevance, when every agent-card you play in the early turns means giving up something else. Also the atomic mechanic feels needed, to balance the increased power of deck-building and refresh a stagnant row.
also: quite some interesting ones missing
no pun included, meet me at the table, board game bullocks, the king of average (from top of my head) (and SU&SD as others pointed out)
It’s almost like having a favorite color. A lot of wildly different responses.
You forgot Boardgame Rundown. They are a excellent team with a excellent channel.
Heard they moved to China and changed their name to Boardgame Roundup...
@@buddhawasright Thanks for pointing me out my mistake. :P
I was sad to not see Dune: Imperium on the list, AND THEN THERE IT WAS!
No Spirit Island? That was unexpected.
Thanks for compiling this.
I'm VERY new to modern board games. But since I've started, I'd say Stone age and Sagrada are pretty up there for me personally at the moment
1. Great work, thank you.
2. Can't believe I recognized most of them. 😂
prof meg's hair is so cool lol
since we discovered Gloomhaven in the pandemic, we are totally hooked as a group. It's actually unhealthy... I can't think of any game that made us meet more than once a week to play (as adults, all with families and jobs etc, 40mins drive). Thank you GH! :) Frosthaven imo has made this already awesome game so much better.
"Every Board Game TH-camr's"
Doesn't include the biggest board game channel...
Whoah! Naveen and Monique would be my best friends. They named my two favorite games of all time. Can't pick just one.
and a discord notification at 18:15 :'D
Crazy that someone has Rising Sun as their No. 1! I really want that game!
Outstanding work collating and curating these #1 games. This list/vid really brings a ton of positive info to the board game community. Cheers!
This was a genius idea for a video. Well done.
This video got me into the board game hobby!
This was a great idea for a video, and beautifully edited together =)
Finally, the last dude with Dune Imperium, How was it only 1 dude who thought this a top game. it's a 10/10. It's amazing.
I love it when some one says the best of any game. As if they had played al of them out there.
Really fun video to watch! Great to be a gamer today with so much variety.
Thank you for this video! I closed out of the other video so fast as soon as I know it's fake.
Everything the Dragons Tomb does is fake but it's hilarious!
On another note, what board game was the one that took lots of time to play?
Something about italians with pasta needing water rations
Shut up and sit down.
No pun included.
2 board game channels I missed in this collection.
But awsome video and great idea.
Well put together.
(Only thing that "bothered" me was the parts where the games were represented by digital versions. But that is nit-picking from my side perhaps.)
Great job!
Have either ever even done a Top 10?
@@VaultBoy13 I do not know.
(but if we go into semantics this video was about the youtubers number one game of all time and that can be known outside of top 10 lists.)
I just missed them no matter the cause. ;)
To clearify My comment was not meant as a "burn". If they have no "official" number one game of all time, they havn't and I wish they had and in that case included here.
And if they do have it I would have loved seeing it in this collection. =)
Mine is definitely Ark Nova especially with the marine worlds expansion. Solid game with close second to Terraforming Mars and Wyrmspan
I think those Dice Tower games were their best of 2022, rather than all time. I think Tom's current favourite is Le Havre?
No it was all-time. Tom even said this was the second year in a row for Ark Nova. Le Havre was still fairly high up there though.
I thought Tom's all time favorite is Cosmic Encounter
Your pick was the only one on my top 3. This is my ranking:
1. Underwater Cities
2. Anachrony
3. Dune Imperium
No boardgame bollocks? He’s like asmr too lol
Had No idea there were so many board game TH-camrs
Happy to see Dwellings of Eldervale on there!
My number one of all time: Dominion
