Love Saashi’s games!
I love my copies of Come Sail Away and Coffee Roaster. *** Hey J, have you ever played a game called Railways Inc. After the Rain? I just got it from Japan and it is all in Japanese, help!
I should really get this to the table.
10 out of 10 doctors agree!
I'm new to the channel. Do you do reviews on the negative side or do you avoid covering games that you know are not around your wheelhouse? Which is something I see some board game channels do.
I definitely talk about concerns when I see them - especially in my Kickstarter overviews. For this game, I wish there were more variety in the objective cards. As for the gameplay, I don’t see any issues. If you want to add complexity and more depth, playing with the advanced truck rules is more than sufficient.
The Origame/Saashi booth is the first booth I'm going to at PAX! Thanks!
Don’t forget to visit me at the Bézier Games booth 2620 👍
The trucks don’t score for the biggest cluster!
🤦🤦♀️🤦♂️
Going to make me so poor. I want everything. 😅
So looking forward to getting this at PAX. A quick correction - isn’t your purple 13? I do see a motor scooter next to them and I know you didn’t mention it in your video, not even once, but the rulebook says those are wild. 😅 Also, what about Bob? He DID marry Richard Dryfuss’ sister, so I guess he’s the uncle for those kids.
Yes! Motor scooters are indeed wild! I must have overlooked that as I was quickly talking over everything😅 Good catch!
Waiting on my kickstarter copy!!!!
It’s glorious!
looks quite similar to Overbooked but less thematic 🤔
Good catch. I should have mentioned the overbooked connection in my review. There is definitely the “over” connection with the titles & there are similarities in gameplay. But the drafting mechanism made the game feel far closer to rainforest city for me. But I will say, I’ve played three versions of Overbooked and none of them had this level of production quality. It’s really well done. One version of overbooked had passengers drawn on tiles, and they were silly looking. I would say that version of Overbooked had a more playful theme-as silly looking people are indeed more playful than parked cars-but I would argue Overparked is just as thematic if not a little more with all the little bits and the production. The various truck abilities also add a good amount of weight for the advanced play.
I was thinknig Planet Unknown with the wheel and polyomino placement.
I am a proud owner of a copy of Maatatahay. Awesome game
Awesome!! I often refer to it as Black Panther Whisky!
Great looking game!
Can't wait for more games in this series!
Such an efficient packaging
It's even more amazing when you put the game away and realize that the board is the box because you completely forget once you start playing the game!
I bought Wind the film last year at Essen and I love it. I regret not getting Come Sail Away but hope it comes to Canada. Great video.
Rumors are it’s coming to the US 🤷♀️
I’ve played probably half this list, and Let’s Make a Bus Route is still my favorite. I bought it at the TGM where it debuted, and it’s still one of my favorite games to introduce folks to Japanese board games.
That’s awesome! I love how some games just burrow their way into your mind and linger for years.
I had to pause the video to laugh out loud at "Lets make a Butt Route" and couldn't stop laughing for a solid 2 minutes.
🍑🚌🤷♂️😂
My top 5 (I have only played 5...): 1) Photograph (Wind the Film but the Matagot version) 2) Bus & Stop 3) Coffee Roaster (I love coffee) 4) 1am Jailbreak (only played once) 5) Come Sail Away (Don't own this and was con tired when I played it, so not a fair assessment probably) I love them all though and will be keeping my eyes peeled to try and get more of them! I'm quite a big fan of Daryl Chow too; Wok & Roll, Rainforest City and Buffet Boss are super popular in our house :)
Cool! Thanks for the list. It’s always fascinating to see how others rank games you’ve played. If you love Daryl Chow, you should check out Overparked! It’s my favorite game of his!
@CardboardEast ooh thank you for the recommendation, looks right up my street!
I am the game designer of Cat and Tower. Thank you so much for introducing Cat and Tower! I am very happy! I will study English with this video!
Thanks so much for such a fun game!! I’ve made a lot of excellent memories with it. Thank you so much for watching the video 👍
I was very happy to see this part 2 version of Saashi games. I also have every Saashi game but Over Tourism - it will be tough to find, won't it? Saashi is one of my favorite designers and a big reason why I wanted to go to PAXU for the first time this year. Will there be a part 2 version of Totsuca Chuo games also at some point?
Oooooooh. I think so eventually. Perhaps next year after a few games fulfill 👍
@ 🤗
@@lisahasegawa2674 How about a Daryl Chow in the interim?
Coffee Roaster is the only one I've ever played!
Oh no!! We gotta correct that!!
I was at the S&S booth at Tokyo Game Market last week but they did not have any copies of Come Sail Away. They said they may be restocking in December but I'm not in Japan anymore so it's moot. One thing the lady did mention is that they're expecting to release the game in the US in 2025. Can't wait to get my hands on this one!
Exciting news!! Thanks for the share!!
So excited! That’s going to be the first booth I got to! 😊👏🏻
Oh so cool!! I didn’t know you were coming!! We go crazy at the booth and have fun!!
How did you know I was on the fence about ordering Come Sail Away? Great video, Jay! Cheers, and I look forward to the next.
I am in your mind!
Great video, I have all these games except one, Over Tourism. And now I must find it.
Power collector!!
Picked up some Saashi games in Japan this year and am attending PAX. Looking forward to seeing you both there! Thanks for the great video and ranking.
Thanks for watching!!
"I'm not going to do a full rules teach because this video might be an hour long"... proceeds to make a 46 min video instead :) I love it
😅😅 I just had so much to say about this game!!
I’ve been impressed with how smooth the Saashi games play. I’ve only played Wind the film and Bus and Stop. Wind the Film is awesome and Bus and Stop is good too, a little simpler than I like but still good. Very thematic though! I really want to try Come Sail Away.
It’s soooooooo good. CSA is lighter than I was expecting but it honestly runs smoother than most games I’ve played.
I can't wait for Saashi & Origame to share a booth! Saashi and Daryl Chow are both awesome. Should we expect an Origame ranking soon? I love Come Sail Away, it was a highlight for me getting it from the PAXU Virtual Game Market last year. I THOUGHT everyone was enjoying playing it and, then, they all broke my heart by saying "I enjoyed it, it was smooth, but it was just fine and I don't need to play it again." I haven't had the heart to bring it back out again since.
Game groups can be rough like that. My game group in Taiwan loved co-ops and 4X games. My current game groups love knitting circle games. 🤷🤷♀️🤷♂️ An Origame ranking 🤔🤔🤔
@@CardboardEast +1 for Origame ranking 🤗. So excited to see their booth at PAX U
Great list! I think I agree for the most part. I find the lighter S&S games are towards the lower half of my rankings as well (although In Front of the Elevators is one I do enjoy quite a bit). In your rankings where would you draw that line between the lighter and heavier S&S games? Trying to determine if I should pick up Bus & Stop and/or 1 A.M. Jailbreak. I love how smooth all of the games play. In many respects they remind me of some of Knizia’s best works. I wish more people were familiar with S&S games, so I am happy to see they will have a presence at PAXU (and for your channel to continue to spread the word).
Thanks! If I had to draw a line, I would say that all his small box card games are all light. Out of all the card games, WtF is perhaps the most complex with the most depth. His most complex games would be Remember Our Trip, Let’s Make a Bus Route: The Dice Game, and Take the A Chord. I define “complexity” as what it takes to play the game without rule mistakes, and I define “depth” as what it takes to play the game well.
@ I like that definition! Thanks Jay!
Now there's a list!
✊✊✊
wow great contents as always! Saashi & Saashi is probably amongts the best boardgames company here and we have lot of there games in our café but sadly not the complete collection yet. coffee roaster is probably the one I like the most amongst the one I tried. maybe it's me but it seems that the timestamp for your video is broken after over tourism kyoto
Thanks for watching! I’ll look into the time stamps. Cheers!
Woo hoo! Thanks for this video. I'm going to Japan in 2025 so I will be able to use this info.!
Have a great trip!! I missed Japanese breakfast so much, I taught myself how to make it. Walk into that Yellow Submarine with confidence!
Did any of your games score over 250 - which is the solo mode threshold?
I honestly can’t remember. (I haven’t played in a while as i had to send the review copy elsewhere.) I want to say yes. I had the goth daughter who gave you a free sweet bun icon and I nearly broke the game with her ability. I believe I broke 300. I have no idea what the point threshold would be on a solo game.
@@CardboardEast Thanks - I like the look of the game, but will only play it solo. I just get the feeling the solo automa is definitely an afterthought with a pdf being available for reviewers. The pdf does not look as developed as the rest of the prototype n the reviews I have watched.
is there any player interaction in this game?
Public goals only one player can achieve and your standard work placement indirect interaction. I go here so you can’t this turn and will have to wait. I love Yokohama, but if you’re prioritizing player interaction then I’d probably recommend something else.
Being a pretty comfortable Riichi mahjong player, all those extra rules you can play with make Rikka a much fuller game to me! I was watching you explain it and thought “oh I know how to Riichi this” and then you explained it. It’s Riichi but distilled. I love that!
Yeah! It was super smooth & and excellent little game!
At 2 players, regarding the worker placement, is there anything to tighten up the board? Because otherwise, what incentive do I have to pay 2 cards to follow your action when there are plenty of other actions which cost me just one card only - and I can just do my own thing?! Having some places on the board already filled in would help resolve this!
@@JJ_TheGreat This game is TIGHT-regardless of player count. You’ll often need to follow an action and dumping cards is a reality you have to live with. In fact, usually the first half of the game you barely put a dent in your board. It’s not until the last 2 rounds where you really begin to make progress.
I wanted this back when I saw you talk about it in your Top 100. I had to back immediately, of course. Thank you for sharing this. I'm so excited to play this.
Glad I could help!! May all your flicks bring doom to your enemies!
Magnets make everything better
Hell yeah!! ✊✊
Love this game! It's good for everyone to finally get the game.
@@CHHris_Ipsum I concur!
Sweet intro!!
🤘🎸
Thanks Jay, this game sound amazing! I love the size of the box.
You and me both! I love sticking this thing in my backpack 👍 Thanks for watching!

Andy dates for 2025 yet? :)
I have a strict rule about not dating anyone named Andy 😅
Cat and Tower's theme is so sad! It actually works against me since I don't like sad themes in things I enjoy. But I appreciate you covering the games since I now have an informed idea of what they're like! I might pick up Gift Craft since I love the mechanics and the art is adorable. Cheers!
OMG the last card in the story almost had me in tears 😭😭😭
Rikka has a nice mahjong feel to it without all the suits and tiles!
Scoring is infinitely smoother as well 👍
