Amazing video, Parker & Landon! I am extremely humbled to see myself mentioned on this channel. Thanks for all the knowledge you've shared over the years. As a person who never attended a formal film school, it's videos just like this that helped me learn and grow my own business. Keep crushing! 👏
Hey daniel, been a fan since the early days of your channel. Im a starting filmmaker doing a education in filmmaking and im planning to buy some lighting. Could you recommend me a light to buy?? I was thinking about an apurature 120d. Thanks!
Never thought I'd be mentioned in a video like this. I am so grateful for all the tips that Daniel and James has been providing here on TH-cam, without them I'd never be able to shoot the way that I do! Great to see that you inspire others with videos like this!
you, Daniel, James, Fulltime Filmmaker, and the other "epic b-roll" people are the people I have learned THE MOST from. I like the "epic b-roll" trebd SO much because I learn the most from them in the shortest amount of time. Seeing someone execute a shoot from start to finish and explain the process DURING it is the best kind of educational content. It's the most learning in the most compact amount of time. It's basically like digital job shadowing. I greatly appreciate all you guys who do it, even though I'm sure it gets tiring and somewhat repetitive to do.
I know some people get angry that this “Epic B-Roll” stuff is trendy rn but I personally love to see creators inspired by other creators. Shoutout to Daniel and James for pioneering this but also shoutout to you guys for adding your own flare. Lovin the video so far!
ya everyone's raging about it and "tired of it." But honestly I like them SO much because I learn the most from them in the shortest amount of time. It's the most learning in the most compact amount of time.
-Turn off I/S 5 tips 1. 1:54 Use wide angle lens 2. 3:35 Hand placement 3. 4:42 Move your body not your hands 4. 5:29 Motivated shots 5. 7:29 Keep the camera moving Thanks for the video..
Something I learnt with shots that for example move closer to the subject making it come into focus, is to start the shot up close and in focus, drag out leaving it out of focus, then reverse in post.
Love the tip to use the finger to glide against surfaces. Havent heard that one before and I'm gonna put it to use! Also bigups for shouting out Daniel Schiffer. He's a beast!
Parker and Landon. Could you please explain the purpose of the ND filter when you already have full control of your indoor lighting? Great video. Thank you for putting out quality content.
I see there are various opinions. I think it's MF myself, both Daniel Schiffer and James Mathews shoot on MF and even Peter Lindgren. But I wanted to now for sure if they do it in MF too. I don't know, maybe they use a different technique
I am one of your fan in the Philippines bro.. I am a Mormon and Return missionary too.. You inspired me so much on your video tutorial.. I wanted to be like you bro.. Thank u for the inspiration! Mabuhay!
Mystic Productions thought the same thing as soon as I seen this! Had Daniel’s style all over it! He’s a master when it comes to this work. Plus being an fcpx editor instead of the norm w premier
This Full-time Filmmaker team has probably taught me more about cinematography in the last few weeks then all my prior studies combined!! Keep it up guys and thank you!
dont know if you will see this comment bust i just want you to know how this video was useful for me and teaches me a lot even more than what o was expected when i started watching. Thankfully thanks for sharing all this. Be bless and let practice what i learned. 🤜🤛
Fantastic info. These are the sorts of tips you really wouldn't figure out until after you've missed the mark on a project, so thank you for sharing them!
Awesome video guys! i just filmed a energy drink commercial for film school and used this video and it turned out so good! Really appreciate you guys putting all of this information out there!
I'm a beginner videographer and I've been shooting a lot of B-Roll lately, but it's come out very shaky and unstabilized. Hopefully this will help me! Thanks for the tips!
just shot a outdoors day event (lowrider picnic) using A BLACK PRO MIST FILTER stacked with a ND filter. These really improve the visuals big time. I shoot with a D3200 Nikon Crop Senor DSLR and 35mm kit lens. HAND HELD and Mavic Mini Drone.
This was a great video. Super insightful and much different from what’s been presented by other creators lately. Well done. My thanks for putting it out there. Learned a lot!
Its depending on what kind of film you are make. Here you mostly make close shots with wide angel and moving camera. This kind of footage you can’t practice only when you make a travel video. For this genre you need various camera movements and positions and angels, what you cannot handle completely handheld without an ibis. And also your demonstrated handheld takes must pass the post pro stabilisation when they shall look professionally in tv-screen size.
Parker you are about to hit 1M on April 28, 2020. Congratulations in advance. More vids in the future... Continue inspiring us your subscribers with your videos.
that is solid stuff really great video super helpful particularly about lens choice and how that helps not only get wider field of view to ensure get the subject in frame but also for it helping to hide those hand held shots micro shakes - super stuff !
Wow!! These are fantastic 5 tips! They looks pretty easy to do. for sure though, I will have trials and errors by doing these tips. But I will never give up until I make them right. Thank you so much!! Peace! ✌ 🙏🙏🙏
hi, I'm your Russian subscriber, and even though I'm not good with English, but I watch you) I'm also learning how to shoot cinematographically, Hello from Russia)
Your videos on shooting handheld AND with stabilizers have been very helpful for learning to shoot close slow moving and steady shots without the dreaded judders - like the pro Steadicam guys do it. A few thoughts on focus, aperture, and lighting trade-offs would be welcome sometime.
Definitely added some new information to the stew! Thank you! Question: I get that electronic image stabilization can work against you, but does Sony's Steadyshot as well? I did some tests with auto and manual settings as well as just turning it off. I can't really tell any difference between any of them.
I have the same question! What are you findings after 5 months? i just got a6600 + 10-18 Oss lens, im going to shoot handheld broll but wondering if i should turn Steadyshot off. Much appreciated if you could share your experience
Good job Landon, well done video. But that peach/protien powder/water jug commercial with the fox logo is still my favorite from you; perfect music choice in that promo 👌🏼
Great tips all around but I’m having mixed feelings about not using image stabilization... yes, when you shoot with an 85mm, it MIGHT show itself, but then again you suggested to use a wide angle right afterwards anyway, so..... that’d pretty much make it unnoticable. Also, you suggested using warp when necessary, but in comparison IS almost always does a better job if you can choose only one. And when you combine wide lens + IS + warp stb. (+ slo mo as BONUS) = the fighting off for handheld movements is pretty much gone... that is at least what I experienced.
3:02 It's a cool thing you released this on my birthday many years ago. So for those of us on a tight budget which lens would you recommend? Is the f/stop the most important thing? I have two lenses for my Canon 80D (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, & a 17mm f/4-5.6). I know I need a better lens for my talking head videos but I don't know what to buy that is not going to break the bank!
What a great video! Thank you for the inspiration and all those useful information! For me getting better in food videography is to keep learning and trying! I will absolutely try to implement some of your tips in my videos
Great video, but I have an equipment related question: Why Canon? No 10-bit color, no 4:2:2, and cropped 4k. I can't figure out just why, when there's so many other options on the market? Is there a special ingredient that I'm overlooking?
I love trendy B-roll...but at the end of the day it's just that...trendy. Right now it's cool, but who knows what next year holds. Its refreshing to see Parker's crew try something like this, but ultimately Parker is all about high quality professional gigs. I respect and appreciate both styles as there is currently a market for both. Parker's style though is a more timeless craft.
Yes Me To, never thought I'd me mentioned in a video like this, so Thank You! Oh, wait, I was not mentioned, I guess I better go watch more of your wonderful teaching videos so I might someday get Mentioned. Thanks for all the hard work you do on this channel. :)
Awesome tips, definitely will try to use some in my next videos. Do you think it would work with the more budget level camera like oes rebel or eos rp using wide lenses?
Thanks for this amazing videos!!! We learn a lot from your tutorials and teaching skillS! I’ve become a better videographer because of your videos! Keep it up! Stay safe!
The other guys like daniel and Peter use sony a7iii as it can record upto 120fps i guess.. Which you gives you more room for movement and flexibility in editing.. What you think canon r5 Or r6 will have it..??
Hi Parker, nice brief video tutorial, thanks for putting it together. You mentioned particularly about image stabilization and that tip was much appreciated. Can you mention if you generally use AF or manual? Thanks
Can’t tell you how excited I am to see this shit on a EOSR!! All the the others are shot on Sony with ibis and I wondered if someone could achieve the look with the R. Did you shoot the scene in 4K?
Camera or lens Stabilization or not? Guys what is your experience with IBIS ( In body image stabilization? ) Are you sure it makes it worse? I use A7iii and I have never had any problems. Any piece of advice? Any good videos explaining the differences?
Amazing video, Parker & Landon! I am extremely humbled to see myself mentioned on this channel. Thanks for all the knowledge you've shared over the years. As a person who never attended a formal film school, it's videos just like this that helped me learn and grow my own business. Keep crushing! 👏
They helped you grow your skill set, dudes like you that inspire smaller people like me, it’s the circle of creativity.
Hey daniel, been a fan since the early days of your channel. Im a starting filmmaker doing a education in filmmaking and im planning to buy some lighting. Could you recommend me a light to buy?? I was thinking about an apurature 120d. Thanks!
Daniel Schiffer you guys gotta collab sometime soon!
Daniel Schiffer I am your subscriber and a fan.👍🏻

Thanks for all that you do Peter. You're officially an OG with these guys. Can we get ...You, Daniel, James, and Parker in on a collab project. 🔥🔥🍺🍺
Love this humbleness, creators supporting and encouraging others ✨✨

Would u use auto focus or manual?
@@jojo890xd4 try with manual first.. auto might be little jumpy
@@Itr-tv7kt thank you man

This video was fantastic! So much solid information. Thanks for the love 🙌
This community going better and better!

Something I learnt with shots that for example move closer to the subject making it come into focus, is to start the shot up close and in focus, drag out leaving it out of focus, then reverse in post.
I learned more watching your video than I have in the last 5 years of researching diy video shooting. Thank you!
Right?!
What about focus? Do you rely on the AF of the EOS R? Or do you prefer MF?
just commenting to get the answer aswell
Not a pro here, but i think its manuel focus, since he planned the distances for the specific shots
Most of these shots are done in autofocus, if not all.
Manual focus. Especially for the faster movements
I see there are various opinions. I think it's MF myself, both Daniel Schiffer and James Mathews shoot on MF and even Peter Lindgren. But I wanted to now for sure if they do it in MF too. I don't know, maybe they use a different technique

Gotta give credit to James Matthews first! ♥️
You should collaborate with Daniel Schiffer.
Mystic Productions thought the same thing as soon as I seen this! Had Daniel’s style all over it! He’s a master when it comes to this work. Plus being an fcpx editor instead of the norm w premier
Eric Gurnitz I agree! He is a master at what he does. A one of a kind guy.
Mystic Productions let’s not leave out James Matthews. If you haven’t heard of him..another one I highly recommend following with the same style
Eric Gurnitz Okay, i’ll check him out right now!😄

the quality of that images is astonishing
