Good work bro raise your rates. You are driving around getting parts going to the location. Shit 100 an hour is what a shop charges. You are providing so much more service. Know your worth, bro 👍
Other than your time, maybe add a charge to cover gas, maybe a full tank. Individuals do not understand the wear and tear on your work vehicle. What they pay doesn't cover that after paying yourself and your bills.
nice work as always. for guys our size, getting to stuff under the hood ain't nearly as bad as working under the car, which tends to suck. I always end up feeling like a fat piece of cheese wedged into a grater.
@acg2002us They typically include new choke, air bypass, etc... motors. Strip all that away, you're left with a hunk of (mostly) aluminum which is unlikely to have "gone bad." I mean, swivels do wear out and plates do pit and ablate. But that's over many decades of operation, not something I would expect in as recently as '09. Cleaning needed; sure. But otherwise, you're looking at a bad actuator motor. Much older, say 80s and early 90s, you could also see failed injector in single-port configurations. On the other hand $300 for a complete assembly seems more than reasonable... based on the last complete throttle body I bought many moons ago. Given the manufacturer, I could be persuaded to just shotgun it in. I just have something of a knee-jerk reaction to parts that used to cost about $1K or more.
Your only worth what you think your worth. That being said, you gotta know what your doing. At the level in which your at. There's enough meat on the bone for us all brother. Gonna get your bite!
Yea its always battle knowing what to charge some people think we should be cheaper then shops but my mindset is im providing a more convenient alternative which means I should charge more

That honestly was not that bad or long of a job for $200 the main thing is the driving and picking up parts, hope you have a commercial acct with autozone so you can get a bigger discount on parts.
The weather is a huge factor in a few weeks its going to be snowing and 15 degrees and this year my prices will sky rocket im charging more for bad wearher
Hey Thomas, as always, an excellent video. I agree the guy should have had the diagnosis first and not be like I know what it is so just do what I say. Anyway as you know the wife and I started up our mobile repair. We have made up fliers and business cards and put in laundry mats, business cards at auto parts store gas stations, and just handing out to people that want one, but finding it hard to generate some business. What were some other marketing tips you did when you started off to get those calls coming in. I don't remember if you did a video about marketing or not. Keeep up the good work as always and stay safe you Devil Dog.
Brother, you have no idea how much you just saved my life with unplugging the wiring harness. I was about to throw the whole car away 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I know man but for some reason people think mobile mechanics ahould be cheaper

Yea man its very hard being built like a T-Rex is not ideal
I love those customers. "I don't need a diagnosis. Let's just replace the most expensive part first."
Sounds like the customer correctly diagnosed the issue to me

Nice video. Most shops are gauging rates. You are knowledgeable and fair.
Thanks for the tutorial, I have to try to do this myself.
Thanks for the video goter done in about 3 hrs.
Its always the damn throttle body on those chrysler 2.4 L motors....eventually he will need to replace the entire intake manifold, ask me how I know.

Welcome brother and I have had a few comments about my voice
@@semperfimechanic Ty for your service brother 🫡
U have to invest in a locking bed cover for your truck when you are at the parts store/ etc. I know in my area people would be snatching tools.
Great work!
Thank ya brother
I had to replace the throttle body on a Jeep compass and sometimes you have to relearn the throttle body on your scanner tool
Lmao! Get the chips, get the soda, kick back and watch me bust my ass for pennies!😂
Its true though lol, thats why you need to cashapp me a few hundred for few days
@@semperfimechanic I'll need to learn how to do that. I've just learned how to use my Navy Fed. app.😏✌️

Unfortunately I have seen quite a few of these. Usually the plastic gears fail in my experience.
Hey man, I just started doing this, only to find out that the old throttle body has a one row harness. New one has two. Any suggestions?
So much more money to be made if tou get a commercial account at the zone
The thing I hate about what you do. I wouldn't do it. Your up north of me and customers just ain't gonna pay what salt corrosion is worth.

I use my fat fking fingers as a Torque wrench alternative

I had the exact same model and year, and had the same problem plus multiple other problems with that piece of shit worst vehicle ever owned
