    Absolutely fantastic work. Helped me confirm that my throttle body was defective. Cannot thank you enough. Test was performed on a 2013 Chevy Silverado WT 6cyl 4.3L. Test 4 was higher Ohms as in some other cases below. My throttle failed Test 1 & 2. Initially had passed Test 1. Also had Ohm breaks in Test 2 where it went to OL briefly. Didn't see your throttle do that when pressing down on butterfly. Tried to run test again to verify and then it failed Test 1 completely. Yes, I verified the leads were in the correct position and did another test to be triple sure. Went straight to OL both times. A million thanks. Let me know if you guys want me to post my video results to see what it looked like in the comments. Bravo!!

    I used your diagnostic method to check a six wire 2009 Chevy Malibu 2.4 L throttle body assembly. You're recommendation to use alligator clips was spot on. Would have been very difficult without them.
    I couple of differences with the 4 cyl vehicle. Test 2 & 3 were opposite polarity (i.e. opposite polarity when butterfly was opened or closed) but they seemed to have smooth resistance changes with no jumps. Test 4 the resting resistance was higher, 30 Ohms, but not open (OL) or zero. So i think the concept works on the 2.4 L engine but the system wiring or logic is different for the 4cyl model. Haven't put the car back together but I expect my throttle body is OK now.

    • @davidtravale6237
      @davidtravale6237 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I used the method in this TH-cam video to rule out the TB. I could be wrong tho. I have a few sensor codes all related to the ECM so I have a new one on order. If that not it it’s either a no spark or no fuel issue. I reconnected all connections using a product called Stabilant 22. It’s supposed to improve bad connections. That didn’t work either.

    It is best to use analog multimeters for such measurements. Moving the throttle will show an immediate error in the resistor path. Measurements with an electronic multimeter are subject to errors resulting from the measurement itself. Digital devices simply do not perform linear measurement, but perform so-called sampling from time to time. And this means that a value that changes linearly is not really presented to us linearly. Therefore, it is worth returning to this type of measurements with old linear multimeters.
    Apart from that, the presentation is great. Thenks.

    I'll run these tests, but I first checked the 6 pin connector. Yellow and Brown wires go to the throttle motor from the ECM. TAC Motor Control 1 and 2. The other wires are low ref/signal wires, most reading 5v.
    I'm only getting 4.43mV and 10.7mV on the Yellow and Brown wires (disconnected, ignition on), but i feel like one should be roughly battery voltage and one should be ground.
    I'd just hate to replace the throttle body and still have a problem.

    How do I relearn throttle body sensor on 07 Malibu 2.2

    • @tecman129
      @tecman129  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Per the GM repair manual instructions, this is how to do the 'throttle relearn' (it's actually the idle relearn):
      1. Start the engine.
      2. Let the engine idle for 3 minutes (in Park).
      3. Turn the ignition OFF and leave it off for 1 minute (60 seconds).
      4. Repeat steps 1 thru 2.
      5. After the second 3 minute idle, the throttle relearn should be complete and the engine should be idling normal.
      6. If after all this, the idle speed hasn't been relearned, drive the car at speeds above 44 MPH with several decelerations and extended idles.
      7. After this drive cycle, the engine should be idling smoothy.
      If the engine idle still has not been learned after the drive cycle. Repeat the entire process.
      If engine idle has been relearned, erase any codes that may have been registered.

      The GM part number of this throttle body is: 2173108 (GM Genuine). I checked for you and this throttle body does not fit any BMW.
      Even if it looks similar, the internal circuits will be different. Using the test procedure in the video will give you the wrong test results.
      What is the year and model of your BMW? I may just be able to find the procedure for it -maybe.

    I have a question. My car is a gm Astra 2007. It has a 2.4 liter 4 cylinder 16 valves and a throtle body magneti marelli very.similar that you show in the video. My fail is when the car stays at idle. The car runs perfect but when i press the gas pedal a tinny the car fails like he want to stall out. And when you start at cold in the morning feels like starts in 3 cylinders and at 4 seconds pass to 4 cylinders. I clean the throttle body and te car works better but that issue its make me crazy. The sparks plug are new. People told me change the spark leads. Thank you
