Just bought this TV a month ago. Coming from a mid tier 2019 LED from LG, which I thought looked pretty good, i was mind blown. Have rewatched all my favorite content on this TV and the experience has been amazing - OLED is NOT overrated. OLED really takes you to another level with immersion, especially for films because you get to dim the lights, and the blacks are blacks, you dont get disrtracted by any blooming, and it has that contrast that makes it look more 3D. I actually ordered the Hisense U8N because apparently had amazing contrast, but quickly cancelled the shipment before it arrived, and decided to go with this to avoid any compromises. Like if you're going to have a TV for many years, and you do enjoy Movies and tv watching as a family activity during the weekneds, it is worth spending a bit more. Its expensive, but not too crazy expensive. If you have the ability to buy one comfortably, just go for it.

I have been watching this video since it came out and I was convinced to get this TV when he said “I just wish that everyone can have this TV”. Yesterday I bought it and I can say I have no regrets. The green tint people are talking about when viewing from angles is nonexistent basically. The HDR content is spectacular and to be honest, yes it is dimmer but in a dark room it can blind you. If you still have doubts about this TV, I can guarantee that you’re gonna be more than happy when you buy it.

If someone thinks of buying a Scamsung S90D, before doing that, check if that TV has QD-OLED or WOLED. If it has WOLED, don't even think to buy the Samsung one, just get the LG.
42", 48" and 83" are 100% LG Display (as they are the only manufacturers for such displays). In some regions 55" is panel lottery, and 77" 100% is also LG Display (again, in some Regions, like in Europe, Romania).
Here in Romania, the WOLED S90D's ends in AEXXH, while QD-OLED S90D's ends in ATXXH. Also, I've seen the same model numbers for other European countries too. So, for my European fellas, avoid the AEXXH models, and get the C4.

I picked up a 65" LG C4 a few days ago and it has the green tint. I think this issue is more common than people realize. I even checked the display model at the local store and it had the same issue. The salesman called it color degradation and acted like it was normal. Try pausing a picture with faces and lighter background colors and walk to the side and see what it does to the picture. It looks fine when viewing it straight on if that's all you need.

Recently picked one of these up for merely the cost of my Best Buy protection plan. My C9 from 2019 had the most minor burn in possible (and only under certain colors) so they exchanged it for me.
Pretty nice upgrade overall. Though I will say the cost cutting is obvious when you compare it to the C9 (C9 has a huge stand, more inputs, better remote, attractive backside with finish, sits lower, better power button) I'm ok with all that because I know the tech/panel is cutting edge and the 144Hz was a nice bonus. Not the best price ever, but I found a 48" C4 at Costco. I bought the TCL QM8 75" for the living room from best buy in Feb, but wanted a nice smaller tv for the bedroom. Wanted a 55" but the 48" was $700 with included 3 year warranty and the 55" was like $1300 or something like that. I actually like both my TV's having really good, but uniquely different pictures. LG looks crisp as hell. Perfect for night time movies. I will say the tcl UI and remote is superior overall. Have to train my brain on the different remotes, but the lg doesn't light up and I have a harder time feeling the buttons. All the money went into the wii pointer functionality
Funny side story, the 48" barely fit in the trunk in my tiny Subaru 2nd gen BRZ (one of the smallest cars on the market). I ended up bending the trunk frame by the rubber weatherstripping gasket a bit, and tearing the gasket. Oops. I ended up slowly shimmying it little by little from the inside. Didn't notice till I went to close the trunk. I had to cut the box open from inside, and carry it out of the car, to prevent bending the thin aluminum more. I was upset but also laughing at the absurdity of it. People at the costco parking lot and even my neighbors coming home were like "wtf". Only time I've ever needed a bigger car, is when I am buying TV's 😂

Of all the reviews, both positive and negative, this one stands true. Took the plunge and couldn't be happier. Went from a 2019 Samsung LED and am absolutely blown away. OLED is a game changer! Our TV is perpendicular to a north facing sliding glass door and faces another window. Have always struggled with glare and viewing angles. This LG C4 is plenty bright enough and crystal clear in all lighting conditions. Glare is no longer a distraction, and we have not had to pull our blinds shut a single time! Set the picture to Expert Bright Space Daytime and Energy Saving Off and that's it! We have a soundbar, but without, the TV audio is not as terrible as expected, especially in AI Sound Pro mode. Even if OLED wears out in time, I hope this LG will still outlast our past two Samsung TVs. Have always been a Samsung person but their quality and reliability have gone downhill. That said, we have two Samsungs from 2009 that are still going strong. Only time will tell in this 'built to fail' generation. Thank you, Digital Trends, for a dependable review!

I actually use it on my desk as a monitor with the black background documents literally look like they’re floating in air. I do have my Apple TV and Xbox also hooked into it. The replacement C4 though will be an upgrade to 77 inches which will be a better fit given the room it will be situated in now that I have experienced the 65 inch size.

I was at the local Best Buy here in Canada and was comparing C3 vs Bravia 8. I am a big fan of Sony and was almost disappointed C3 looked so good. Problem was, they were out of stock since it’s a last year’s model and C4 was more expensive than Bravia 8. This morning, or should I say 15 min ago I checked the new prices, and C4 is now on even better sale than Bravia 8 making it cheaper than Sony. Came here to check on your review and really appreciate it. With the BB warranty, I don’t mind not getting LG’s 5 year panel protection as I should be covered by BB warranty. I found C3 to have better connectivity than Sony and TV just looks spectacular. This will be my first LG TV ever and I am hoping built quality and longevity will not disappoint. I am coming from a 9 year old Samsung 8 series 4K led tv and I am sure this will be a major upgrade. Any LG or TV nerds, please feel free to confuse me even more if I should not worry about the purchasing of a LG TV or if Sony Bravia 8 is still a better panel.

I just bought a LG C4 based on this review. Retired our glorious Panasonic 50 in. Plasma. OLED is far superior. There are lots of settings and filmmaker mode seems best. Had issue with Sony Blueray player, filled the screen image with "millions" of fireflys. Discovered a menu on the Blueray player to adjust output to 4K and disable 24p upscaling. Complaint on this is LG is impossible to "register" or accept "terms of service", thus it would not do "over the air" scan, nor authorize the many aps. I had to find a TH-cam video to show steps to tweak Wi-fi settings and change DNS, etc. and that worked. I got the 55 inch due to TV placement, and it's a beauty.

    • @Andykev
      @Andykev 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

PS> had I known how the "Web OS" is and the pain in the *** to register or set it up, I would have spend more money on the Bravia 8 or something comparable. I had to tweak my wifi setup at home to lock the tv to just one access point, apparently having three Ubiquiti AP's somehow confused the tv so it kept failing to load aps which can't happen until you sign in and agree to terms which it was almost impossible to do. Otherwise the picture quality is out of this world. Hope the OS improves but I have nothing to compare it to since this is my first new TV in 14 years.

I bought this TV and traded it for a S90D and it was a huge mistake! I hate the remote! And I'm use to the Samsung and everyone talked the S90D up. The C4 is not good out of the box and takes about 4 weeks to break in. It also took me a lot of tweeking to get the picture to look optimal, but once I did.... the C4 is incredibly beautiful, vibrant and plenty bright. The motion on the C4 is so much better than the S90D and the C4 dominates the S90D in standard definition. Over the air t.v. and other stuff in SD looks great on the C4, and pretty bad to awful on the S90D. I could go on and on, but the S90D is more vivid in UHD stuff and the speakers sound better. But the C4 is better in every other way.... except that horrible remote!

If brightness is a concern go ahead and get the G4.
The TV you have and the c-series are honestly basically the same TV
Sure you're getting "different generation panel", put the changes by the panel manufacturer year to year are very small.
It essentially be getting the same TV and personally if you're spending $2,000 I'd rather have something with a real improvement and not just better processing
The g4 has MLA so there's legitimately something that was changed and improved.
Also idk if you know about the 113111 code, but you can really juice up the look of SDR content using that menu with your shield pro.
You can make sdr MUCH brighter and more colorful by forcing it into HLG mode.

Literally just pulled the trigger on a C4 earlier today. Best Buy has it on sale right now for $2,200! That’s $1,300 off msrp!! I couldn’t pass that up!
This C4 will be replacing an A80J that I’ve had for 2 years now. Honestly, the A80J is a great TV, but the lack of HDMI 2.1 on all ports along with the sluggishness of the TV in general made me go back to LG.
I had a C9 prior to the A80J that I gave to my in-law and every time I see that TV in her house, I just prefer the picture it has…. It has better color saturation compared to the A80J and the picture is just slightly more pleasant to look at.
Not gonna say I regret getting the Sony because that processing power is serious and the clarity is phenomenal! But I’m looking forward to getting a LG back! Especially now that I have a PC and can fully take advantage of the LGs gaming power! Also highly curious to see Filmmaker Mode as I’ve that it’s excellent!

Correct. Zero burn in after 4.5 years of my C9. Wow time flies.

great review. So funny I started to watch this review on my Android TV but got so many long ads that I finished watching it on my computer. That would be a great question on You asked... Isn't the youtube app on TVs generating way more commercials?

Honestly I think you should totally skip audio as part of these reviews. It's 2024 and if you're buying a TV this nice, you should have a soundbar paired with it at the minimum. Even if it's wall mounted, you can hang a soundbar to the TV mount below the screen easily.

Truth. Anyone buying this TV most likely knows they are buying the best looking TV on the market and isn't going skimp on the audio.

I know they aren't in the same budget ball park, but rtings compared this to the Bravia 9 in a recent video to see if the Bravia 9 could compete with midtier oleds, and it cemented for me I need to waste more money for the Bravia. The scene where wine is poured into a glass for example during their comparison, or the color of the strawberries, made me understand I really value that HDR increase and that I just always seem to have an issue with colors of oled TVs.

At 83" size, this is really the only option as Samsung and Sony don't really have competitive offerings. I'll be picking one up at Black Friday unless I can pick up a C3 but those are becoming rare.

Hopefully this year we’ll be lucky enough to get a review of the mid-tier Sony OLED from Caleb. His last review was from 2020?

I got a Samsung OLED in May. We have been very disappointed in it. Wish I had researched before buying. I’m gonna check the LG out.

Why? I have an S95B and it’s been great: it’s fast (now) and the image/sound are fabulous!!!

Upgraded from an obviously old Samsung plasma 60. The 1080p picture was still great but I wanted HDMI 2.1 and eARC. 4K was a bonus. Went to the box store to buy the Samsung S90D. Ended up getting the LG C4 65 at the same price. It was a back-and-forth decision but I felt that the LG had a slightly better picture. Silly as it may seem, the real tie breaker was the remote as (a) it had a source button and (2) it can point and click!. After a period of second guessing my decision to leave the Samsung brand, I'm thrilled with the decision to go with the LG C4. The only negative that I'm aware of is that it does not support HDR10+ but that's not weighted very heavily as I'm not sure that my eyes would be able to discern the difference. Plenty of eye candy just the way it is.

I was planning on buying the C4 during Black Friday. But the difference between the C3 are minimal for me. Yeah it's brighter but i watch TV mostly in a darkroom. I bought the 55 inch C3 during amazon prime day sale for $1099!!! And i am very very happpy with my first ever OLED TV😎.

Same here. I could never justify spending £1000 on a TV but with the right content it looks great. I'm glad I did.
My 3 year old 49nano never wowed me. There was nothing wrong with it but it was just a TV. I'd usually keep a TV for about 7 years.
You know you've made a good choice when your wife makes an unprompted comment about how much better it looks.
      Happy wife. Happy life😂

C3 seems like a viable alternative especially with concern for green tint at angled viewing. Anyone else have thoughts about the two or green tint? (not a gamer)

I use a Fire TV 4K stick or 4k player, so I'll never use WebOS apart from the popup settings menu for picture modes etc... so the ads are a none issue. Looking at the 77" C4 end of the year purchase 👍. Also if your spending this much on a TV, your going to be using a soundbar or HT setup worth enough to match that image quality or your doing the TV a disservice.
