Truckers. That's who the portable kettle/thermos devices are primarily for. It's not a case of making your coffee and taking it to work, so much as waking up in your cab, starting work by getting on the road, and meanwhile have the coffee brewing beside you. It also takes up far less space, and is much less likely to spill/leak/break when driving over rough surfaces like dirt roads.
Was looking for a comment like this. The portable kettle has many applications. It could be that you're even at work (or anywhere) where there's no coffee/tea station and you are able to warm water on the go
For the kettle, it's actually for people who want to use their own kettle in hotel rooms. In China where Xiaomi is from, people are very anxious about hotel kettles being used by previous guests to either boil instant noodles, or boil socks to get it clean. Not sure how much of these rumors are true, but it ended up many people would bring a whole kettle with them on trips. Xiaomi just saw the opportunity here and jumped in with a portable one.
Wow! Congrats on the Resin 3D Printer - 1. please please please wear gloves when handling resin, you can get chemical burns from it. 2. You should never rinse it down the sink. Always use something like Isopropyl alcohol to clean the prints, then let air dry and cure under UV Light or in the Sun before handling with your bare hands.
Yes please listen to this. If you're going to be showing tec like you do please be safe with it. Show people how to responsibility and safety use these products.
Also it's important to say, never wash resin down the drain. Liquid resin seriously damages the ecosystem and anything close to liquid resin should be brought to a hazardous waste facility.
Please dont use a resin printer without protective gear, the fumes are toxic and if there are uncured resin on the surface of the print, touching it isnt ideal/safe. Use gloves and masks while dealing with these kind of printers

I bought a Xiaomi vacuum robot for 250 bucks from aliexpress in 2018 almost as a joke because i could not believe it could actually work since the iRobot one was 1000 back then. When I received it and unpacked it, I already had to raise an eyebrow. It felt beautifully made, sturdy and smooth as silk. When I started the clean job and the lidar started to map a picture of my apartment, started to really lose my words. Now, 6 years later, it still runs like a charm. Unreal, the quality - and I do mean hardware to electronics, reliability, design, just everything, is second to none when it comes to Xiaomi. And I say this as somehow rather suspicious and critical of all things China.
people in the west have been so taken over by capitalism...most people have no idea how much profit these companies makes.. What's even worse is that these "money-printing" companies instead of using they giant profit to make more innovative products, but choose to use their profit to do propogandas attack upon other companies...
Yep. I bought the Mija back in 2018 based on a ton of reviews I found. I'm still one the original battery and rest of the hardware and it's been way better than I expected. My only gripe is the software sucks and it just stops being detected by the app and voice pack reverts to chinese instead of english. Not too much of an issue since I don't use it on a schedule but still annoying.
In defense of battery packs on cordless screwdrivers: For heavy users it is way better to be able to switch out battery packs, so you basically never have to stop working if you have two or three battery packs, while you have to wait regularly for it to charge if you have to charge it with a cable. For casual users on the other hand that is fine. So for casual users that $35 is amazing and the product looks really neat, but if you plan to use it for hours on end you should get one with battery packs. Talking from experience.
What does that have to do with lacking a usb c charging port? Imagine you could charge your tools without a proprietary docking station for your batteries! We will get there eventually
I use Xiaomi G10 vacuum cleaner and yeah, it's sleek, low noise profile, my cat doesn't run away from it, he ran from previous one. It has few attachments for more in depth cleaning [like pet hair] and even add-on for the main brush that dispenses water, so you can clean and mop in one go. I bought 2 more for my sisters and they are happy as well. There are 3rd party addons too, but the version I've bought had every brush and tip + a wall stand so I can hang it and it charges itself. Easy 8+/10 [though I WOULDN'T buy anything else at this point, just trying to be a bit objective with the score]. Hope it helps.
I stumbled onto Xiaomi's UK store a few years back expecting it to be cheap temu/wish crap but was shocked at how good it is. I own several of the products you reviewed and some you didn't and they're all working perfectly years later. Also their ballpoint pens are exceptional and the only pens I'll use now.
This kettle is BRILLIANT. I work as a software engineer. To stay focused throughout the day I'm sipping yerba mate all the time. Having mug-size kettle-thermos on the desk is something I'd love to have :D
Just a warning from a 3D printer guy. The UV resin most 3D printers use is toxic until cured under UV light and washed in Isopropyl alcohol. I am unsure if it is the same as the 3D pointer in this video, but it is something to consider.
The issue is always the resin and it's always dangerous. There are ones that are extremely toxic and can cause chemical burns (mostly off the market now) and the other side of the spectrum, most reputable brands like Sunlu or Elegoo resins are just bad for your health but won't knock you out or immediately hurt you if you just inhale them a bit. Ventilation is key
I have this screwdriver, got it like a year ago... it's actually amazingly practical for day-to-day tasks. It's not at all a professional, industry-standard tool. But for a quick tool to mount something, assemble something from IKEA... it's amazing! Totally would recommend.
@@MayonnaiseOnATable that's not a good thing though and there is no real reason why they have to use proprietary batteries, inside the case they are practically the same.
I have the precision one and it is very good, comfy to hold and easy to use plus the extra long bits it comes with are very useful. The rest of the bit selection is good too.
portable kettle is a life saver when you have a baby. We have been using ours for 6 months and it changed everything. We prepare food on the go, in a bar or a restaurant, airport or a hotel lobby.
Thats the thing, for us Asians flooded with Xiaomi products or other Chinese products, whenever we hear people say China copied the west, we're like .. "show me something remotely as innovative as these we're seeing and using" theyre so far ahead!
Have used some Xiaomi gadgets in the past, and the best way to describe it would be "if Apple designed something, but kept it user friendly and affordable". Also the quality and functionality is so good that if something has been offered, then it is probably in the top 1% of that particular category.
My take on xiaomi is if utilitarian meets comfort design. It will never be apple. But Apple will never be xiaomi. And altho I'm not a fan of the Chinese government I am a fan of xiaomi.
as an interior designer i'm super impressed by the laser measurer. the fact that it can generate the layout plan based on the measurements you've taken would save me so much time! i'm considering getting one now.
Hey now, filament printers only look that bad when they fail 😂 the resin printers are amazing for print quality but def be careful around the uncured resin. Don't touch it and def dont wash it down the sink it has huge aquatic toxicity 😅

@Mrwhosetheboss I work with resin prints regularly, and here's what the setup is like. Lab coat. Protective goggles. A respirator graded for pretty much all chemicals and bio hazards. External Hepa filters. Special vats only used for cleaning these prints. Water tanks to dispose of the water with our local waste disposal company. All tools used are thoroughly cleaned and only used for resin prints. Among various lung and skin irritations there have been cases of people developing UV allergies from these resins. Please never use them in your home. Never touch them without protective gear and never let any of this stuff get into places you use for personal hygiene. Contrary to FDM printers, SLA printers do not belong in home setups. Hope this helps. Greetings
Clarification: portable kitchen gadgets are for travelers. My colleagues when they go on business trips they carry portable kettles, rice cookers, blenders etc. A kettle is the most useful one because you can use it to make tea, instant noodles, instant rice etc and that helps you with saving time (since you don't have to find a kettle or use the dirty hotel ones), saving money (since you don't have to worry about how expensive the restaurants around you are, and plus it is just super convenient since it is portable and small. For some it also makes them feel at home, especially if they are travelling abroad and can't get used to the local food. Side notes: 1. Xiaomi in China is almost half or one third the price you pay for internationally for all gadgets. 2. I have a smart laundry hanger from Xiaomi, a water filter, all my switches, small sensors, MiniLED TV, Aircons, washing machine, light bulbs, lamps, cctv cameras, baby monitors, smart speakers, chargers, fridge, stove, exhaust, fans, cleaning robot, weight scale, literally everything from Xiaomi, heck even my hair dryer, tooth brush and my water pick are from Xiaomi. It's because I can buy something made by Xiaomi and not have to worry about it not being incredible value for money, but also I can access everything in just one app. 3. I'm not from xiaomi, just a fan.😂
@@Woodsie_Lordtarrifs... lots of them... the west(us) is scared of just how good(and efficiently created) Chinese tech is. They believe the US makes best... which has pretty much never been true, even their space program was built from the knowledge of Germans. They idolise Ford because he "created" the mass manufacturing process for cars... even though they did it first.... Now they have a South African trying to advise on sorting their goverment😂 Considering the US is so anti globalist they don't half love using the rest of the world for their benefit( at least the British know that we grew through the help of the commonwealth)
Fun fact: you aren't supposed to place drills standing up because if it falls it will damage the thing you are working on (if you are placing it on tile and it falls it will crack it)
Something can be well designed but still not very useful. Basically all Brits already own electric kettles so I can understand why this would be useless to Arun.
@@Dorgpoop I just find it not fair to give it a low raiting because it's not useful to him. The kettle worked perfectly and for many people it can be useful. That's like if I review a juicer which works perfectly but I give it a bad raiting because I don't drink juice.
@@kamencic The difference is, Arun said in his video he doesn't know the use case for it. In your comparison, it's more like he doesn't know what you use a juicer for.
25:00 Do not leave the top off of a resin printer, and do not leave resin in the printer, it will solidify and ruin the printer. That orange is a light filter.
The resin stays liquid as long as no uv light hits it. I have fdm-printed a light tight cover for the resin vat that i remove just before printing. @BenMillen is right - only the pigments sink to the bottom. Just stir them back in with a plastic spatula to avoid damage on the FEP foil.
I would say that the "Electric kettle" is a cultural thing. I lived in China for a bit, and it was super common to see my coworkers in the morning with a thermos of hot water with tea leaves in the bottom. During the day, they would refill the bottle, leaving the tea leaves in the bottom for the next batch of water, which of course was almost never hot and so the tea would be super weak for the rest of the day. But with that mini-kettle, they could add any bit of warm or cold water and easily re-brew their tea. Anyway, love this review because my wife and I are big fans of XiaoMi products - everything from smart watches to umbrellas to backpacks to sunglasses to our robot mop/vacuum which - in my opinion - is the very best on the market. The build quality is always great, the price is amazing, and their design aesthetic is simple, smart, and sleek.
My wife has had a Xiaomi scooter ,we have their fan 2 lite and fan 2 pro as well as their 2 smart bedside lamps and we LOVE THEM. Our home is slowly starting to turn into a cost effective smart home through Xiaomi
you missing the point of a portable kettle: taking trips. Most hotels do not supply kettles and this can easily be packed in your luggage and taking minimal space.
Was about to say the same. This is brilliant. You pack your hot drink, you drink it on the go, and you can make more as you get to any plug in your hotel room, train seat, workplace… Christmas sorted.
and work, some people working 12 hour shifts with a canteen that is far away would appreciate being able to have more than just a warm drink, or soup etc.
The whole point of having proprietary battery packs in professional instruments is that you can have several of them, continuously charge some of them and swap flat batteries to the charged ones on the go. This type-c-charging tool is designed for home use, when you need to occasionally tighten a screw or two with style. I don't say it's bad, it's just a different target group
2:50 - ARUN, I would say the thermos is for ppl who want to just put water in (or fill it at work/school) & bring a tea bag or coffee/coco mix to make at your destination...
It would also be useful on road trips and other areas where you are away from home, but don't want to bring a whole kettle. This product actually seems super useful to me
It’s actually for Chinese people who will fill their thermos up with loose leaf tea before leaving for the day and will constantly add water and use the tea throughout the day
19:41 "Zero-degree cotton" doesn't mean cotton free or no cotton. It means that the cotton is not treated with chemicals or processed in any way (probably just ran through a machine to separate the actual cotton from the leaves and debris), so, it's the cotton straight from the farm. And for that reason is not white, more like an off-white/light-beige color. Also, since it's not bleached there's no remained chemicals getting back to the soil.
I do work at Xiaomi so it's so interesting to watch Arun use all of our smart home gadgets it's like me watching how would our customers react when they first bought our device 💙

FOR THE RESIN PRINTER PART: 1. Xiaomi isn't the only brand making resin printers! They are quite common for "normal" people to have in their house. 2. Xiaomi's printer's app being able to show the supports is also very common with consumer-friendly 3D printer apps. I know Bambu Lab's app has it (because I have the A1) and am sure many other printing apps and software have the feature too.
Yeah, i don't expect him to be a professional at it, but he clearly didn't do a single second of research and apps/slicers have shown 3d models and supports for over a decade. How else would you even know what you are printing.
@@Blox117 I think he meant more of an "average" consumer. And yes a bunch of "normal" people just buy 3d printers to print things for their DND campaign or even just to try them out. And especially FDM/filament 3d printing is really common these days.
Didn’t this brand get banned from the United States because it was found that it was gathering all the data on devices and sending to CCP? It made me laugh at how every device is connected to one app lol; never forget that price cuts have to come from somewhere and I’d presume your data IE text messages and location data are what cover and sort of discount this company offers.

4:33 I don't own a 3D printer and am in no way in the field. But I was at Microcenter one day just checking out the 3D printer supplies and stumbled onto the resin supplies. I was absolutely SHOCKED 😳 at the warnings for resin and the importance for ventilation; even with getting uncured resin on your skin. It was so bad that my subconscious put it in the same dangerous category as Mercury. Uncured resin and its fumes are extremely cancerous; LITERALLY. Please never do this ventless resin printing again.
Even if you don't get cancer, continued exposure to uncured resin leads to severe irritation of skin and lungs that can be chronic. You need nitrile gloves and respirators if you are in the same room as working printer and/or handling uncured prints. I'm shocked the only warning he got is "open a window", like that would be anywhere near enough.
Neat gadgets, but also needlessly complicated items that won't last as long as traditional solutions. Not to mention the environmental impact of all the plastic and batteries. But also impressive propduct range, I get an Ikea feel, that you could really populate your whole home, or life, to "smart"-level. Truly an enticing offering for the first world rich people.
Wow, this video was fantastic! I have to admit, I had stepped away from your content because it felt a bit too focused on competition rather than genuine reviews. But this tech review really resonated with me and reminded me of why I enjoyed your channel in the first place. Kudos to you for this refreshing approach! Looking forward to more like this!
3:36 these LEDs you pointed to are actually for curing process. There’s another set of projection array shooting light up from underneath the printing bed solidifying the resin.
This seems like he was given every product and told to make them sound revolutionary when it's a basic resin printer with a built in curing light and DRM
The kettle would be great for my wife - Most people in America drink coffee, not tea, and we have a dedicated coffee machine for such occasions. My wife however, drinks tea. Before she leaves for work, she runs the kettle to make 1 cup of tea for her thermos. The kettle only ever has the minimum amount of water in it, takes up counter space, and the water is immediately put in her thermos.
I am already at a point where I look for stuff from Xiaomi when Im searching for anything new instead of analyzing the market. It just always works and I never had issues. Talking about phone, smartwatch, air fryer, rice cooker, ceiling lamps, bedside lamp, tablet, kettle, screw driver so far.
2:49 The kettle gadget is probably for tea drinkers. It fits my use case of preparing tea at work, it's portable and slow. If you've ever tried to prepare tea at work you'll know what I am talking about. This scenario, of course, excludes tea bags, which I don't like and I don't consider real tea. I use tea leaves (green tea) and I let them brow on slow fire for about 15/20 minutes. I used to prepare it at home and bring it with me to work, but tea needs to be freshly made for you to be able to enjoy its best taste. Sometime during my lifetime I had discussed an idea of a similar gadget with my friends, I must try this one.

The laser measure - i've had one from Bosch for some time now which even comes with a wheel attachment for measuring smaller flat distances, say the length of a tabletop. The design of the Xiaomi one is definitely inspired from the Bosch one I have. The design is pretty much identical... but then yeah, its not really anything special so that's likely purely coincidental. Where the Xiaomi really shines is with the app. They made Bosch look like a child's toy... well maybe not, but my cat sure does love it lol.
As an ardent xiaomi - mi home gadget user, this video is so satisfying and makes me so happy. Thanks for talking me out of the mini kettle/bottle that i was mulling over.
That kettle is mainly for people wanting a kettle for travel / at work. In Asia a fair amount of people don't trust the kettles in hotels so they bring their own on trips.
I you're interested in resin printing, this video DOES NOT show how it really is. Resin printing has way more safety precautions as the resin used is toxic and cannot be just washed down the drain and you do need to do post-processing on the printed parts to make them safe to touch.
The pistol drill is just powerful enough for light duty work around the house, I save the heavy duty work for my Milwaukee drills outside. I’ve had that drill for 6+ and it still does the job. Xiaomi’s original micro precision screwdriver set was made by German tool manufacturer Wija and Xiaomi just put their name on the front. The 2nd gen I was disappointed that they copied almost like for like except for the power driver and some extended bits. Overall I can appreciate Xiaomi’s effort to make quality products at great prices. My old neighbor was Chinese and he made such a big deal when he saw I had some of their products. I just laughed as I didn’t know how big this company is.
I've had the precision screwdriver since it came out. It's awesome. I used it on laptops, watches, and sometimes some other stuff as well. Everyone who ever opened a laptop ever, wants this :)
Hey Arun! The printer you have there is a resin printer, it prints using photocuring resin, and that stuff is dangerous. The uncured resin is toxic and can get under your skin, wearing nitrile gloves when handling it is a must, and so is proper ventilation in the room. Also, filament or FDM printers aren't usually as bad as the pictures you showed us :) FDM printers can also produce really clean and good looking results (even the cheap ones) while being much safer and faster! Resin printers are generally used to print small objects that have a lot of detail, like figurines for tabletop games.
We don't all drink coffee, and the kettle is perfect for Uni or on a trip, warming up water for hot toddies, chocolate, or tea! So many places have outlets too, saving you a trip to a cafe standing in a queue.
as someone who lives in china and literally uses xiaomi for all my smart home devices, i’ve been taking them for granted (esp when all these products are even cheaper here). so it was amazing to see an international user review the plethora of products they’ve came out with. here in china, the xiaomi long lasting pen and batteries are household staples.

Yeees that's what I was saying 😅
The best thing about Xiaomi is that the products are really affordable but you don't feel cheap when you got it in your hand.
The proprietary-ness does suck tho.
You can use any
What does that have to do with lacking a usb c charging port? Imagine you could charge your tools without a proprietary docking station for your batteries! We will get there eventually
您只需要一个移动电源,问题就解决了
And most times, the part that fails often is the battery, so the battery packs are better long term.
We need a Part 2 with the toothbrushes, pens, shavers, compressors, security cameras, vacuum cleaners, rice cookers and all the stuff we missed!

Just a warning from a 3D printer guy. The UV resin most 3D printers use is toxic until cured under UV light and washed in Isopropyl alcohol. I am unsure if it is the same as the 3D pointer in this video, but it is something to consider.
They're all toxic.
The resin this printer uses is made to be washed in water, as specified on their website

Side notes:
It's not just Xiaomi, everything is cheaper on local market since there is no middleman and various fees.

Xiaomi is kinda making a Mi-universe which you can simply have only Xiaomi production in your home suit for all your daily activities. The only thing I know they don't have yet is house construction.
Xiaomi: note that down
Mi universe but kinda connect friendly unlike apple
They are making EV now.
they have washing machine,tv,electric car,air purifier, robot vacuum and water filter.
Xiaomi Hyper OS connects all under the same ecosystem.
24:05 don't expect a man to stop having fun with his new amazing toy... 😂
Im 10 minutes into this video and im already mind blown of how futuristic Xiaomi already is, this is crazy, i feel like i need all of those gadgets for just the littlest situations!
Josh laughing at 17:09, and what you said doesn't sound right 😂
Finally someone else said that 😂😂😂
18:56 I could maybe compete with the supersonic speed, but definitely not with the 13-hour duration

@HelloAlvi no, I'm with you 😂
@@SahabAliChaudhary we know it will come handy on the honeymoon night. He is thinking like, just to be safe I’m bringing a bigger one so it could take care of the work after 2minutes down the line
@@HelloAlviThat's definitely gonna be more useful for his wife LOL
16:38 I'm dead 🤣
The laser measure - i've had one from Bosch for some time now which even comes with a wheel attachment for measuring smaller flat distances, say the length of a tabletop. The design of the Xiaomi one is definitely inspired from the Bosch one I have. The design is pretty much identical... but then yeah, its not really anything special so that's likely purely coincidental. Where the Xiaomi really shines is with the app. They made Bosch look like a child's toy... well maybe not, but my cat sure does love it lol.
17:36 I was eating milk and cereal and I spit milk all over the place. That was hilarious.

😲
22:08 Bro Stop the Cap, you do it for you😂
18:29 😂😂 we caught it 😂😂
What
24:53 It's why they told you to open that window Arun
I've had the precision screwdriver since it came out. It's awesome. I used it on laptops, watches, and sometimes some other stuff as well. Everyone who ever opened a laptop ever, wants this :)
Xiaomi sells guns now? What did i miss
They're at Samsung's level now, the level where apple can't even compete 💀
They sell the Purifier H20 skin and a nailgun (sorry was making codm jokes)
Xiaomi SU7 (EV Car)
Lol
@funni387
McDonald’s don’t sell spaceships! They can’t even compare to NASA.
What level of stupidity are you people on?
00:11 we riot if he dosent get a xiaomi car

Yes. The one that looks like a Porsche.

Man you really cracked me up this time! 🤣 Couldn't stop laughing even after the video of the massaging bit. Thank for making my day. Truly
Same mate, i also love me some hot toddies while travelling
18:43 you know what the thera gun is actually supposed to fit
What?
💀
Oh damn, the nightlight is totally what I am currently looking for! Thanks for video!
that "oh Xiaomi" when he saw the magnetic screws was from the heart
as someone who lives in china and literally uses xiaomi for all my smart home devices, i’ve been taking them for granted (esp when all these products are even cheaper here). so it was amazing to see an international user review the plethora of products they’ve came out with. here in china, the xiaomi long lasting pen and batteries are household staples.
Is Huawei the same?
@@sydn2698 Huawei is good too just too expensive and has fewer products. There plenty of third party products that can be integrated into the Mi Home app so the compatible product catalogue is actually insanely large.
@@sydn2698Huawei is more like Apple in China, theit products are way more expensive.
Yes but Huawei is considered more premium @@sydn2698

That entire resin printer part has shown every single thing you shouldn't do while resin printing. Ventilate the room, don't touch uncured resin, and absolutely under no circumstances wash uncured resin down the sink, even if the label says water washable. That stuff is nasty
