LG states "the green tint on Rtings C4 is within manufacturing tolerances", thus making it sound like a minor panel lottery issue. However the Sony Bravia 8 that Rtings reviewed had the identical green tint problem, which can be seen in the off angle viewing video and Chroma and Hue graphs. That both TVs from different brands have the identical problem and virtually identical measurements suggests more than a manufacturing tolerance issue. The panel for both TVs is made by LG Display (a separate entity from LG Electronics) and it appears that they have screwed up their non-MLA panels this year? Thoughts?

I just picked up the 65” G4 a couple days ago for my living room. It’s incredible. I’m an avid gamer and have a PC built for my living room as well and playing Ghost of Tsushima on this thing IN 4K with HDR on is absolutely stunning. Also have watched a couple of my 4k Blu Rays and I realize I never truly experienced HDR until I got this TV as I was coming from a 5+ year old basic Samsung LCD TV (non QLED). Mind blowing. I heard cinematic/movies the processing on G4 is much better now (than other models):
Fluid motions when pan shots/drone shots: less judder/stutter without getting soap opera, even without the cinematic motion option ON. With cinematic motion on, soap opera is minimized while pan shots are even more fluid.
The G3 needed cinematic motion for more fluid pan shots while the G4 did not need it.

If you're planning to buy some great TV to become monitor with PC mode, I recommended LG 42 C4, it's not only C4 but also 42 inch version of it, because its all 4K TVs, so 42 (smaller one) has more Pixel per inch (PPI) than any other unit, Don't forget to using ISF mode to getting the most accurate color possible, and when you're using it as monitor and looking at the screen from monitor distance, so hard to tell which one has MLA, but you definitely can tell which screen is sharper because of LG 42 C4 has 103,39 PPI, while 55 G4 (smallest size of G4 series) only has 80,58 PPI.

@@romainbousquet5770In my opinion if you're already satisfied with 42 inch, it's enough, getting 48 inch also reduce PPI, but if you're planning for tripple A gaming as example, you can pick 21:9, but for prices to performance, LG 42 C series always win, because monitor market on 21:9 is always more expensive to buy.

it's not close, get the g3. The g3 has mla. The C series barely changes year to year. Same panel just tweaking the software.
The g4 is just a g3 with a new processor. It is very good this year, but it's not like last year was bad. Great last year even better this year.
      C4 processing isn't better than the g3.
Take advantage of "last years model". An idea that is only viewed negatively because of corporations making us think we need a new one every year or that the tech even meaningfully changes. Last year, but 2nd best LG model for 1k cheaper than the g4.

Good video here. Keep in mind that there is more to the "Brightness Booster Max" technology on the G4 than just the MLA layer. Several pieces of software accompany that technology overall and it clearly makes the G4 brighter than the C4. The interesting thing here is what the 97" G4 will look like without MLA? On the surface, it should fall somewhere between a C4 and smaller G4 w/MLA. But it still may have some of the brightness boosting software, still has the enhanced A11 processor, still has a heatsink, and still uses a G4 panel. What will it be lacking compared to the smaller sizes in PQ? For light controlled rooms, if it's just missing a few extra nits it shouldn't be a factor.

the bass hump, the thing is, that bass hump in room will sound better. It's even just a raised shelf, nice and even but increased volume. The TV doesn't have low bass so an extra bit of kick at 100-300hz, midbass, is the next best thing. A bit more emphasis on the lowest notes it CAN hit. It'll subjectively sound better, no question, as someone who is very into audio and measurements to a flat response that doesn't go any lower. Small speakers in a big room.

    • @masomaf

      Not tested system software
      Not compared number of inputs

Not compared sound quality(but advanced users will buy extra sound hardware).
In general the g4 was sharper due to different pixel texture of woled vs qd.
Samsung in other reviews was mentioned to have poorer motion processing.
Lg out of the box in DV barely needs tweaking according to other reviews.

Once u decide size and if u got the budget. Go for g4 and have 5 yr warranty. If u dont have budget get c4. Whatever u do do not gonfor any samsung bcz they only give 1 year warranty. I own a C2 42" and I will only upgrade to a new 42" if either mine breaks, which is unlikely, or the new one is MUCH better using MLA and the 2 feet.
The G4 is just too expensive and too big.
I would pay a bit extra, if G-Sync using the new Mediatek chip is included.

My room is mostly dark, Does MLA matter for me? Might get the C4 instead of the G4

The G4 picture has better highlights than C4. If you have the money go with the G4 but you’ll be happy with the C4 as well or for almost about the same price. Go with the G3 instead.

    We have a OLED C1.
    The price was insane.
for the computer and consoles. has HDR. they said HDR 10. idk ps5 doesn't say anything about HDR 10. I don't think it ever says. They said it is. doubly vision is there.
Gsync freesync and those features help with no tear. don't know if it ever mattered.
Pretty much the internet said to put the color temperature to 50 warm. For some reason we noticed that at first it to hot then it auto adjusts.
RRating settings we used. We liked to put the brightness a bit higher. idk maybe the room.
Why did they decide taking out 3d with the glasses out? there was plenty of movies. Like Aviator.
First top end 4k TV i got. From the covid pidemic, idk people took me to do odd things. got me this old TV.
This is be a keeper for a long time. No choice really.
Still waiting on a good receiver. why are they all half 4k and half 8k? or is that just how it's labeled. there is a brand that makes smaller sized receivers.
Would of been nice if they more HDMI's in. maybe the speaker connections in.

The G4 in 42" would be amazing as PC monitor.
    Or as a 40" 21:9 5120x2160.
