      I rather agree, that she will rightly be gripping the rail and will face court. If you are running prosecutions based largely if not entirely on the supposed infallibility of the Horizon system and it comes to your attention that there are very real system deficiencies, that Horizon had significant and serious problems you have a legal obligation under CPIA 1996 to disclose matters to the court as being useful to the defence position and which undermines your own. As we now know, these would have proved fatal to 100’s of prior cases had they been properly and promptly disclosed.
      Not only for a single case, CPIA obligations are ongoing. Ignoring or suppressing them exposes those responsible to prosecution at the very least for perverting the course of justice.
      Yet in their hubris senior figures deliberately and outrageously suppressed this and sailed on regardless. Prosecution decisions were made at the top tier of PO management and they (amongst others) are evidently highly culpable here. They are a monumental disgrace and I hope they are living in fear of the arrival of size 11 boots on their doorstep.

    I just can't believe MPs took the Post Office bosses word for it, despite a growing number of sub-postmasters and the JFSA being formed. It's like the police asking a burglar if they stole anything, them saying no, and the police letting them go.

    • @kingcurry6594
      @kingcurry6594 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Of course MPs would take their word for it. It's a very serious offence to lie to Government and don't think that any of the various Post Office ministers (Labour, Lib Dem or Conservative) would consider it likely that Vennells and her staff would do so.

    • @anonnemo2504
      @anonnemo2504 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can quite believe they did. Most of them are lazy and/or incompetent.
      Many will consider many of these people at both the Post Office and Fujitsu to be as guilty as a puppy sat next to a pile of poo and why does a police investigation have to wait until the conclusion of this inquiry? There is sufficient evidence against named individuals for investigations to start immediately. How long will it take for justice to be served if investigations have to wait until long winded KCs, paid by the hour out of the public purse, have finished asking their questions, some of which are irrelevant and others just plain stupid?

    • @kingcurry6594
      @kingcurry6594 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@anonnemo2504 Presumably, you're one of those "know-all, know-nothing" cynics who think that all MPs are lazy, self-promoting wastes of oxygen. Sadly, some are. We hear all about them. There are far too many in the Tory party, but they exist in the SNP and Labour as well. I don't think that there are any in the Lib Dems, Greens or Plaid Cymru. Then there's George Galloway.
      But many MPs are actually hard-working and are in politics for all the right reasons. And it's tragic that some, like you, tar them all with the same brush.
      All the Post Office Ministers are entitled to expect that senior Post Office executives would have to tell them the truth. They didn't. They told barefaced lies and misled them. Paula Vennells must face criminal charges, as must several other senior executives. They knowingly made false statements under oath.
      As for the unacceptable delay in compensating sub postmasters for their loss, that comes down to the Treasury's obstruction since 2017. And that's entirely the fault of the Conservatives.

Our children and grandchildren deserve better. So it's up to us to force MPs to make some changes. Any MP who doesn't agree to making lying a criminal offence should be unelectable. This scandal is the final straw that should end the current form of government of the UK.
    In the UK we should now only vote for independent, non political party, candidates.
    I mean we should not vote for any candidate that belongs to any political party.
    No existing political party has come out with any policies on any of the several current major issues concerning lies by nationalised business, government, NGOs, and global multinationals, resulting in deaths and injuries to British subjects.
    For example the UK Government does not consider it their responsibility to intervene when it is obvious that ordinary honest people are being wrongfully imprisoned on trumped up charges by a UK government owned business. A UK government that cannot protect people from such injustice is not fit to govern and must not be tolerated and must be removed along with all the civil service systems and organizations that support it.
    The UK Government now fails to protect British subjects life and health from a range of external threats.
    Even listing some of the issues here, on which they have failed miserably, will lead to this post being censored.
    There is no benefit to the UK population in a party based political system because each party can be captured and controlled by evil external organizations.
    The future now can only be an anarchist co-operative system where all voices are represented and no party can completely control the destiny of the country's people. Anything else will permit our gradual enslavement by forces so vile that we are currently unable to comprehend them.

    I think there is a misapprehension about power and authority that has grown up over time; being in a position of power, in any setting, doesn't simply mean that you are able to assert authority over others. It also means that you are responsible when things go wrong. Even if you had nothing personally or directly to do with the thing that's gone wrong - you are in the top job, so you must take responsibility. We very rarely see that aspect of power being enacted, and its absence is poisonous to our public life.

It's hard to believe they could stand by and watch honest hard working valued people go to prison ,become bankrupt or commit suicide just to protect their bonuses but that's exactly what they did.
