  • Furniture is expensive, so I build 2 classic hardwood tables for the price of one particle board piece in store and gave them a nice modern finish I couldn't buy! And you can build them too.

    I like how your videos are catered for genuine DIY people. Not using thousands of dollars equipment and keeping it simple. Thanks for your videos. Keep going!

      “Genuine DIY people” also have thousands of dollars worth of equipment. $200 x 5 tools is $1000; consequently just a few tools adds up quick. That said, you don’t need a $5000 cast iron table saw to get started. Just buy whatever you can afford and get off the couch!

    Beautiful end tables. Thank you for sharing. I'm learning a lot from your videos. Do you use software to design your work pieces?

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, glad you liked them. This was actually the second time only that I threw something together first in SketchUp. So I could show my parents the design first. The other time was the bathroom vanity because I needed to see in person if my measurements and sink would fit before I built it lol.

    Nice, but made from Poplar?

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks. Poplar is probably the most common wood used in painted projects. But it's also the last expensive hardwood most of the time and that's a big jump up from softwood in term of quality, density and robustness. Tried to balance all of that with cost

    • @dropndeal
      @dropndeal ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, poplar is the best for painted projects. I often come across roadside furniture finds, and during disassembly can salvage quite a bit of poplar, then toss the particle board.

    Does that ryobi miter keep accuracy?

    • @JessedoesDIY
      @JessedoesDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly, no. Even mine is off slightly and I cannot get it back straight. I'm looking for another.

    • @dropndeal
      @dropndeal ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JessedoesDIYMy first miter was a 10” Hitachi. I still use it for remote work because it’s so portable. For the shop, I finally purchased a big DeWalt compound dual bevel sliding saw and mounted it on a portable work bench. Spent about an hour calibrating all axis to zero, and haven’t had an issue since.
