This was a great return to the Beginner to Pro series. Lou was a true beginner DIY weekend warrior build, Chris was a legit build someone with a little experience can churn out and John goes H.A.M. on the details. All three look great but how can you not want a solid Walnut end table in your house.
This is your first 3 levels since Sam and Jordan left. Hello to Lou and Chris! I also noticed a new format where the three levels were interspersed instead of each build being by itself. While htis gave it much more of a horse race vibe, it made it more difficult keep track of which techniques were used in Chris' level (2).
Great video! I do think I like it better though where it’s edited to go through each project start to finish vs jumping back and forth between them…. Easier to follow
I really love watching the "3 Level" episodes. In this case, I feel like I could do the most basic, aspire to the middle, and flat out lie to everyone about having done John's after buying it from him. Good stuff! It is what makes Sunday more than just the day before you start work all over again. Thanks.
Excuse me, sir.. But Jordan kicked your ass on that particular build off. Regardless, it's great to have the '3 Levels of' segment back. I always appreciate the variety of techniques and skillsets in one video.
Love the series. again I would love 3 levels of picnic table. . with summer coming up and the Beast sawmill outdoor area getting refreshed I think a few tables out there would be good to have and seeing 3 levels same as this video would be nice!!
Yay! Three levels has returned. Watched the video with my 8 year old this morning and now he wants to have a build off with me. Thanks for the content.
Think this is my first taste of 3 levels and the timing couldn’t come better, got a load of wood down the garage that I’m gonna be using next week. The detail on the pro level drawer is insane and definitely makes me want to get a table saw just to do that coping method. Love the vid
I'm about 7 years into my woodworking hobby and I loved this video, seeing 3 ways to achieve the same goal was really cool and I learned alot! Please show me more!
I love this series! As a woodworker I love seeing different inspirations for possible projects. I also think it would be cool to see one done with a boardgame table.
Skill is all about how much effort one wants to put into learning and how creative and “out of the box” you can be. A first year craftsman can definitely achieve that level 3 piece of they wanted to.
All three of the builds look great. The beginner has a more sleek modern no frills look, which appeals to some people more than than the fancier ones. The mid level is only a little fancier and looks very nice too. The pro level has it's appeal with the type wood and design elements and looks nice. The drawer front sets it off nicely. If someone wanted to make a drawer front like that but didn't feel comfortable doing it the way it was done, you could cut narrow strips out of the same piece and glue and screw them to the front after beveling them to give a similar appearance. A good match up of the grain would make it appear to have been made from one solid piece of wood. I give all three of these a thumbs up.
Yay! 3 levels is back!! I would love a more detailed video on the integrated handle technique. That's super cool and doesn't require any specialty tools!
I’m from the Netherlands and I just completed my school and can call myself a beginning woodworker now. I’d be willing to come to America to work for you, everything you make is sooo awesome 🤩
I aspire to build all three of these. Beginner for when my son moves out and needs cheap furniture. Then, intermediate when he is isn't destroying the furniture. Pro for my house
The pro version is the absolute best but the amateur version is pretty good too. I love how you did the drawer front in the pro version and the color contrast with the amateur version is cool.
Ok I am biased and have to take Chris this time since I taught him in high school. Awesome to see you doing amazing woodwork. Next build make high school classroom tables that can seat groups of 3 to 4 but can also be linked up to make groups of 6 to 8.
Hey brother. Love all your videos but I’m glad your still putting build videos up. And I learned a couple cool tricks in this one. The miter cut and burying the miter into a sacrificial fence was very nice and will use that. Thanks brother!
As a studentof this particular subject (artistic joiner it said in translator) i am amazed! I can't work on machines yet cause i'm a first year student but next year it's gonna start and i feel scared and excited at the same time. We just did couple of basic three legged stools and four legged and a tiny box with a sliding lid and checkerboard pattern on top and as long as i don't mess it up and then feel bad about it i am happy with the work :D
Glad to see the 3 level series back. I liked them all for different aspects. The draw front being cut on the table saw was killer. For your next build, I saw someone mention picnic tables or maybe a outdoor patio table of some sort.
Fantastic to see this series return! This series was awesome to watch when Jordan and Sam were around! The format of the new series seems really professional and was great to follow!
love the built in handle gives it that carved look , seen a few projects using the table saw at the angle just haven't been brave enough to try it ....
They all turned out great!! I wish you'd shown the side of Lou's table where the stain worked better though - I bet it looked fantastic! Would love to see a more in-depth look at your dovetails method and at how you made the drawer front on the walnut table too.
I love all 3 of them & would happily put any of them in my home! ETA, I love the walnuts look/colour, but prefer the design number 2 with the darker bottom & lighter drawer. But the simplicity of the first 1 is also really appealing to me too. Fab job guys ❤
Also glad to see three levels again it’s my favourite segment you guys do. While I thought you guys all had some great designs in respect to the levels but I’m a sucker for walnut
Great to see the beginner to pro back great work Lou and Chris love all three love Johns walnut one but I love oak too. Can wait to see what you do next
Cutting into the sacrificial fence is how I do all of my bevels on the table saw. If you leave an air gap below the fence, your off cut will drop right down with zero risk of shooting back at you. I’ll typically set my fence about 1/8” lower than my material thickness. For example, you were cutting walnut that was milled to 1” so my sacrificial fence would float 7/8” off the table saw surface.
I think my favorite would have to be the second one for the two tone effect, but the third one for the intricatcy of it. Maybe next, you guys should try different takes on a china cabinet type thing.
Walnut, oak, pine in descending order. Nice work gentlemen. Details: Except for the glue blotches, nice staining on the pine and nice airy feel to the design. Oak: nice design and veneer work, excellent execution, but I’m not a fan of painted wood, maybe an couple coats of Java gel stain instead. Walnut: Everything! That drawer front is crazy good!
I like the middle and right ones the best. I like the way that black contrasts with the veneer, and yours is gorgeous with the walnut + Rubio. Pretty cool with the integral handle, too, definitely looked challenging.

Yeah I likes the prior format a bit better of each build being its own section.
I definitely agree
@@The_Professor98 +1
I agree
Totally agree. I almost forgot there was a level 2 until the end!
The medium one is definitely my favourite! The 2 color tone suits so well! Love the 3 levels btw!
Yep. mine to
you have bad taste
Plus it has a bottom shelf!
Great video! I do think I like it better though where it’s edited to go through each project start to finish vs jumping back and forth between them…. Easier to follow
Was just thinking that, I don’t know the guys so was trying to remember which was which
True, terrible editing.
@@jordantallmanpao4061 Oh, come on. There's the guy with the beard and cap, the guy with the... Oh, wait. 🤦🏻♂️
Same. Jumping around wasn’t the right retention choice, it’s not a Pulp Fiction. Had to stop 3 minutes in and just jump to the end.
Love seeing 3 levels coming back, although I did prefer the old structure where you go through each build in it's entirety then moved onto the next
I really love watching the "3 Level" episodes. In this case, I feel like I could do the most basic, aspire to the middle, and flat out lie to everyone about having done John's after buying it from him. Good stuff! Chris has my vote. Simple but classy and that contrast really pops 👌🏼
Excuse me, sir.. But Jordan kicked your ass on that particular build off. Regardless, it's great to have the '3 Levels of' segment back. I always appreciate the variety of techniques and skillsets in one video.
Watch it Jon..... watch it
I second this!
@@John_Malecki all the pros agree his is better big john You know that means something 😂
The walnut table is gorgeous. That's my favorite. I love the extra dimension on the drawer.
Love the series. again I would love 3 levels of picnic table. . with summer coming up and the Beast sawmill outdoor area getting refreshed I think a few tables out there would be good to have and seeing 3 levels same as this video would be nice!!
man that walnut table was incredible, id love that in my house
Yay! Three levels has returned. Watched the video with my 8 year old this morning and now he wants to have a build off with me. Thanks for the content.
That’s awesome, happy building
I'm a fan of level 2. I can imagine in the dark it'll look like a floating draw 👏
I like the format where you do one level at a time. I get lost with the montage of them all at once.
Glad to see this series back, the new guys are doing great at it.
Think this is my first taste of 3 levels and the timing couldn’t come better, got a load of wood down the garage that I’m gonna be using next week. The detail on the pro level drawer is insane and definitely makes me want to get a table saw just to do that coping method. Love the vid
New format is superior to the old one. Nice job everyone.
I'm about 7 years into my woodworking hobby and I loved this video, seeing 3 ways to achieve the same goal was really cool and I learned alot! Please show me more!
That's probably the most efficient/repeatable dovetail construction I've seen short of using a dovetail jig. Fantastic video!
The way you made the drawer handle is so sick, I've never seen that before!
My favorite was the Beginner level table. Really minimalist and cool
Glad you were able to bring this series back!
I really liked Level 2, looking at them all side by side, that is the one that I would put in my house.
Even the DIY is using soooo many tools that normal people don't have
I'm with Chris on this one. I love the look.
That dovetail method is so great! A wonderful way for a beginner or intermediate woodworker to make perfect dovetails without a lot of difficulty!
Love the integrated handle, the idea of cutting it on the table saw is sick 👏🏻👏🏻
I'm really liking #2. The 2-tone look really helps it stand out with the simpler design which I like.
Mind blown by the 45 degree gut with the buried blade in the fence. It's little tips like that that up my game.

Honestly I like the newest guys the best.. John killed it and you too Lou.. maybe just a personal preference? Nice job new guy!
Chris… Chris is the newest guy.. nice job Chris
LOVE the new format, I understand some people's confusion, but IMO it is great to see each component side by side.
Love how this was edited-the back in forth felt friendily competitive, highlighting the different approaches!
Yay! 3 levels is back!! I would love a more detailed video on the integrated handle technique. That's super cool and doesn't require any specialty tools!
For some reason the middle one always looks the best in these series.
the second one is my favourite, but the 3rd is beautiful and need a lot of skill. Good job !!!
Love the pro table. I think you could make a whole bedroom collection in that style. Maybe you should try it.
I’m from the Netherlands and I just completed my school and can call myself a beginning woodworker now. I’d be willing to come to America to work for you, everything you make is sooo awesome 🤩
John achieved art woodworking level. very beautiful work. I have never seen such table anywhere.
That walnut is siiick… great build guys
I tried the cove making on the table saw, but I never thought about tilting the blade. Thanks a lot.
Looks good.
Do we have to pick one? All three are my favorite. Yeah, 'Three Levels' is fun. More please.
Lou dropping some wisdom. “It doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to look perfect”
I love the look of the amateur!!
I think all of them look very good based upon materials chosen and cost. You guys rock!
I aspire to build all three of these. Beginner for when my son moves out and needs cheap furniture. Then, intermediate when he is isn't destroying the furniture. Pro for my house
I love the 3 levels builds! Awesome to see them back.
The pro version is the absolute best but the amateur version is pretty good too. I love how you did the drawer front in the pro version and the color contrast with the amateur version is cool.
lots of fun watching this. I vote for batchelor #2.
Love the amateur model, great contrast on the stains!
Ok I am biased and have to take Chris this time since I taught him in high school. Awesome to see you doing amazing woodwork. Next build make high school classroom tables that can seat groups of 3 to 4 but can also be linked up to make groups of 6 to 8.
I think I like the middle one best. The way John connected the legs to the rest is pretty cool tho
Hey brother. Love all your videos but I’m glad your still putting build videos up. And I learned a couple cool tricks in this one. The miter cut and burying the miter into a sacrificial fence was very nice and will use that. Thanks brother!
Level 2 table is also pretty neat!
I like Chris's table the best. Like the two tone and the height better than John's
Love this format, I'd say I'm a level-2 woodworker and maybe that's why Chris' end table is my favorite?
I love how last video he said you don't need a spindle sander and then uses one this video. 😁
My vote goes to Chris, love the two tone!
John killed the dove tails and drawer face and the legs! I guess that’s pretty much his whole table😂
As a studentof this particular subject (artistic joiner it said in translator) i am amazed! Nice job, folks! I like the Amateur version.
Love the 3 levels series. Glad to see it back.
I`d LOVE to watch a colab between John and Jason from Bourbon Moth Woodworking. Seriously, think about it!
Love the dovetail technique!! Hand tools is for suckers!
The Medium one is my fave with the two tone. The pro one is nice because of the woodwork. The basic one looks....like a basic one :)
I think a budget build off with the budget including tools and materials would be cool and do whatever budget you think would be reasonable
would love to see a reaction to you all showing each other your builds!
love the built in handle gives it that carved look , seen a few projects using the table saw at the angle just haven't been brave enough to try it ....

This is the content I'm here for! Please bring back the one board one sheet challenge, too.
Chris' is definately more my style.
I love all 3 of them & would happily put any of them in my home!
ETA, I love the walnuts look/colour, but prefer the design number 2 with the darker bottom & lighter drawer. But the simplicity of the first 1 is also really appealing to me too. Fab job guys ❤
Level 2 was my fav! The Level 3 was pretty , but also very short!
man, I would like to see 3 levels of computer gaming desks lol. Somethin for all us nerds out there
glad 3 levels is back.
next episode DRAFTING TABLES.
I enjoyed the new format for the build off. I felt it helped keep the video more entertaining
Love watching these videos. The pro level looks great however the contrast on the amateur is 🔥🔥
They are all good. Each has a place and a niche.
That black one is my favorite
Also glad to see three levels again it’s my favourite segment you guys do. While I thought you guys all had some great designs in respect to the levels but I’m a sucker for walnut
Love The black painted one. But John's is nice too.
Your 3levels of, series are awesome. I'd like to see 3 levels of dining chairs. Keep up the cool vids
Definitely the middle one, hands down
Great to see the beginner to pro back great work Lou and Chris love all three love Johns walnut one but I love oak too. Can wait to see what you do next
I love this concept of "3 levels of..." Great builds!
That is a beautiful piece of wallnut
These are videos are the best. Glad to see you doing the three step videos again! Great to get to know the new crew too. Killer job gents!!!
I love the 3 levels series.

Walnut the favourite, nice build
That drawer face is clean 👌
My fav by far is the Level 2 one.
