  • How to make 2 tables for $20,00. Living room end tables. So here's the background, My wife changed our living room around and we moved our big end tables out of the room. We needed two small tables to fit beside the recliner in a small space. Well, we looked everywhere trying to find some small tables she liked......and we never did. So my wifey told me what she wanted. She wanted a rustic style table with a thick table top. So here is an easy do it yourself project. (DIY)
    The tables are made from (1) 2x12x12 untreated board, bought from our local store. I already had the stain, paint, and screws in my shop. The single board cost me around $18.96.
    Tools used were:
    12" Sliding Miter Saw
    Table Saw
    Drill
    router
    Kreg Jig
    Tape Measure
    2 1/2 inch pocket hole screws
    Kreg plugs
    Glue
    Paint
    Stain
    It took around 4 hours to build start to finish.....minus the stain/paint drying time!
    They turned out pretty decent and she likes them.....Hey, That's all that really matters!!!

    I have no doubt that you are putting out good, helpful information. However, I was constantly turning up the volume to hear your voice... and then repeatedly turning it back down because the music was so loud. Pro tip: speak up or set music to match volume of your voice. It was difficult to watch.

    I like the step-by-step very nice work Beautiful tables video recording was good when it came down to capturing what you were doing. a tip to help you on Future videos it would be better when you make the video just record yourself doing the work then do a voiceover in editing on your work that way the volume is control I also make videos find it’s easier to VoiceOver to control the volume of the video and allows The viewer to hear you better. I kept Blowing my ears but overall great video I will Definitely subscribe

    Popo: Nice video, and thanks for showing your faux pas gluing in the plugs before the screws. Makes me feel better about the dumb things I have done. As to the third hand you needed, take a look at the Kreg right angle clamp. One jaw has the usual flat pad, the other has an end made to fit into a pocket hole. Just don't set it to clamp too tight on a hole parallel to to the grain or it can break out the pocket. I have two, but rarely need more than one.

    I just saw this video is from 5 years ago, but hey, it’s a great video and it helped me out today, 5 yrs later!!💪🏼🤜🏼🤛🏼 Going strong!
    I’m trying to get ideas for a small table with a door on the front. I assume the “Small table” words in my search must be what made your video come up first…but I’m glad it did. Awesome job! I hope you’re still enjoying your tables - and for many years to come. *side note: when you said your wife rearranged the living room so now you need to make two side tables. And later added “I gotta get this done today.” I was like 😱🤯 absolute mind blowing! Here’s a scenario of what would happen at my house: “hey look, I rearranged the living room.” Too bad we don’t have a small table here we could use. (Those exact words have been spoken many times. We’ve looked in stores - nothing available.so… his response? ….. 🦗chirp🦗chirp🦗chirp” … “hey, did you hear me? Anyone want to come see what I did?” Maybe my husband comes and looks at it from the second story catwalk (not quite interested enough to walk alllll the way down stairs.🙄and then he simply says, “cool”. Then walks away. 🤷🏼‍♀️👀 what?! That’s all I get???
    If he said, “ you want some side tables? I’ll go make you some (and have them ready in 24 hrs - and let’s add they have to be safe and functional working tables.😉😗)….I think I’d pass out! 😨😱🤣🤣🤣🤪 sounds like you’ve got a good thing going. Congrats on it all and a great video too!👍🏼 …. Now if you happen to have a plan (or plan it for your next video) for one that’s about 28”-30” square and 3-5’ tall with solid sides and a door in front, would you pleeeeeeaaaaasssseee let me know??🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 I have a chameleon and I’d like yo build a table for his enclosure to sit on. (Asap) My plan is for the drainage bucket to be hidden behind the door, yet very easy access to empty. And a simple little shelf in there would give me a place for his minerals and vitamins. So I’m on the hunt for ideas… trying to see if I can do this. Lol I think I can…. But if you could wish me luck, that would be great and sooo appreciated!! You bI need all I can get!😂😅 thx again for the video and inspiration!! And I’m case you haven’t guessed…you definitely got a sub and a like from me!😉🙌🏼 Keep making these awesome vids and we will certainly keep coming back! You have solid skills and it’s nice to see a well thought out plan come to fruition!😊 Have a good one!

      Dave Stump I would go with the miter saw first. I use that way more than I do my table saw. If you need big pieces cut, you can get the box stores to cut them until you can afford a table saw.

      He used the tools in his shop. The idea is that you can build this from a single piece of 2x12. You can cut and rip if all you have is an inexpensive circular saw and you do not need pocket holes if you don't have the tool, although not very expensive, if you use for next projects.

    Sorry I know this video is 2 years old, but just wanted to say... Well done sir! I’m happy to see that nice quality furniture can be made with cheaper lumber. Those are some really nice side tables. You’ve inspired me to try something! Also nice to see a shop setup that just WORKS. It’s not super fancy, with shiny new tools and perfect lighting. It’s tough old tools that get the job done. You are the real deal bro.
    2 suggestions I would make:
    Invest in various clamps for holding your project as you screw it together. You got lucky with the leg and table top pulling together at the last minute there. With a soft lumber like that you could have blown out the wood and ruined the stained/poly’d table top.
    Also, if you’re going to play music, consider playing it during the saw cuts and drilling, and keep the same type of music. Try to normalize the volume for the whole video so your voice isn’t real low and the music isn’t real high.
    Again, 2 year old video, I’m sure your videos have only gotten better.
    I can’t wait to see more!

    How the hell is timber so cheap in the USA. Here in Australia the closet I could get would be a 3/4” x 10” by 8’ and that’d cost me close to $50. The piece you’re using is longer, thicker and wider for a fraction of the price.

      2”x12” from Lowe’s untreated. I can’t remember the length but it was either 12ft or 16ft length.

    Clamps come in handy if you don't have another hand ..you need sealer before stain so it doesn't make that dark mark, also i find the gel stain better it doesn't run, and no wasting :) i like that you sanded and used router i sold my router set damn i need to get another i think it's easier than sanding as much as i do Thanks

    • @PoposWoodworks
      @PoposWoodworks  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keven Poore I used 8,.....4 per table......2 at the top and 2 at the bottom on each table.

    • @kevenpoore
      @kevenpoore 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@PoposWoodworks Right. I saw that. Since your vid does not include written instructions, I went with how many you made in the early part of the vid - 2 tops, 8 legs and 4 braces. Somehow, the other 4 braces popped into the picture later when putting them together. Now I gotta make 4 more braces, after having stained everything else. :)
