Just binge your videos..I create some youtube videos and i really need to improve my storytelling skills. any advice on how to create the perfect hook, the different type hook we can use to tell story etc.
Hi Yasmina, so nice to hear from you. One great way to hook your audience is start right into the action, doing sth surprising. Where the main character does something. E.g. "2 years ago, I STAND in front of the office. I just HANDED in my resignation". But if you want to I can create an upcoming video on that :). lmk
Working on a documentary about my Chronic Panic Attack Syndrom, and this was a great refresher tool! I used to make those P90X commercials, and it's all the same! But I got rusty! SO THANKS! After 35 as a Multimedia Director, I know how to help others - but we all need to find our WORTH to truly take our work to the NEXT LEVEL! I will make a video for you, give me time! I'm trying to crack the algorithm just like YOU! We should collaborate one day... YOU ARE PROOF that being brilliant is NOT ENOUGH! Its also about cracking that algorithm! I HAVE TONS OF SUGGESTIONS FOR YOU! - Sending you waves of love - MAMA URA
Yes, concise context, in sign language, "Paint-nails Easy", the most minimal context, yet evokes a visceral reaction, as the sign for "Easy" brushes against the fingernails, which in context, were just painted and still wet. Also, every ASL teacher shows the sign for "Bored" as twisting the pointer at the nose, that's the grey screen version that Hearing are taught. My Deaf coworker signs it with pointers fluttering at mouth and ear, body deflate, her intense expression, show instead of tell, That-thaaaat~
By practicing ASL, I've learned so much about story telling, for me it's the sweet spot, each one teaching the other. A lot of signers explore its cinematic nature, just like the action scenes in movies, like playing with jets. I tend to sign stories with impossible events, or with animals as the characters, and those read a lot like cartoons, maybe they hit the extreme button, but they are definitely a surprise~
Oh, the first time I did youitube, it was about cats, but disguised at gardening, and the natural thing I learned there was video editing, also, that many super powers come from simple camera tricks.
Hey Phillip Thank You For Creating This Great Videos, They Really Help Us. And BTW, I Like The Intention Obstacle and Stakes Framework With the Hero's Journey.
I just discovered you and love your content. Thank you. But you video editing sucks. I can't watch it because visually you have way to many jump cuts, color changes, text cuts. It's like watching a LSD trip.

Thanks for the feedback, Thomas. We've playing with different editing styles. This latest videos should be a bit less hectic :)
