Hey phillip a question here! Dont 17. Avoid generic language and 15. Keep it simple kind of conflict with each other?
Oh hell nah
haha
I've been imitating you while watching you while I'm at work, and agents came in on me during that 😂😂😂
Well done 🤣
Good, can you make a video about script writing
Do you mean YT script writing?
@@Philipp-Humm Yes bro, will you do it?
Keep it up❤🎉
Thanks mate!
Good work. It takes time to watch it till end, but it's worth it :)
Yeah it takes a bit, but has quite some nuggets. Thx :)
But I don't like your video stock footages.
Love the video! I have been working for two years to create a YT channel in my spare time and I am using some of your tips to make a script for my first episode. Thank you!
Awesome. Keep me posted how it goes!
how come this video has only 2.5k views????????
haha I know WTF 😅
That was pretty cool, quick vid and to the point! I will use your pointers in my how to vids and see where it goes! Thx again!
Sweet. All the best and lmk how it goes!
@@Philipp-Humm no worries!
Much better than the last video of yours I watched. Giving a specific example and modifying it is very effective. One note. You have fallen into the trap of maxing things out, specifically the mark. The best grade he ever got in the subject does not equal 100. Getting 100 on a test is also not very stressful for the reader. Ask Hermione. Also different countries have different marking systems. Here it is 1-10, no letters, no 100s. Thus, the story would be more dramatic and more relatable if the stakes were being able to return next year and needing to receive a passing mark. Medical school is not much of an emotional target. The problem is that to get into medical school, you have to be a very good student already. This app is totally inappropriate for such a student because they already learned that skill years ago. This app is aimed for middle of the road students who have to chose between university and community college or community college and McDonalds, not between Harvard and the University of Texas. Therefore, better stakes would be not to disappoint his parents who have always wanted him to get a degree, unlike them.
Besides relatability, another problem with maxing out is where to go. Ask Duncan McCloud (Highlander). The world is not enough. At best, you maintain your position and then it is all downhill. Since you like medical school, think about the dermatologist who studied hard for over a decade to spend all day looking at moles, deciding which look suspicious, and removing them, all day, every day, for the next 30-35 years. Is that really uphill from medical school? Did that really require a decade of instruction and top marks? Effective writing does not require huge stakes, but good writing, like in To Kill a Mockingbird.
Love you for this Phillip

The Goat storyteller ❤
Aww, thanks 🥰
11:53 'The Kids' excitement was like this wildfire spreading as they chattered and jumped with enthusiasm.' You have made a couple of mistakes at this point. 1. excitement, enthusiasm are telling words, not showing because the author is interpreting the situation instead of letting the reader do it. This is simply an example of vivid or colourful language, like using dart and vault instead of run and jump. Colourful language helps the reader picture the image you are expressing, but do not let him or her interpret it. 2. Good storytelling is always a blend of showing and telling. The most extreme example is scenes are shown, the events between scenes are told, for example, a dialogue (shown) followed by waiting an hour for the friend to return (told) and a second dialogue (shown). But good writers tell within a scene as well. To a degree, they use showing as a form of colourful language, but they also show the main points in the story and tell lesser points. Showing and telling likewise have unique features such as in the way they can be used to deceive the reader due to the way readers interact with each.
You're right. Thx for pointing this out ☺
What are some good resources for learning hooks?
Hey Philipp , very good video ! I was wondering if I can help you with more Quality Editing in your videos and make Highly Engaging Thumbnails which will help your videos to get more views and engagement . Please let me know what do you think ?
Thanks for the offer, but I'm very happy with my editor! Love him!
Thank you! What a great lesson
Aww thanks a lot 🥰
Look up "Emily McClure Major Tom", the emotions she expressed mirrored how my journey into Deafness unfolded, so I felt a deeeep connection to it. She puts herself directly in it, and not always signing the words exactly, especially the chorus, where she supports the words by playing off of them in other ways, visually structural, an easy example is signing about when I was seven, wading in a lake, seeing how far out I could walk, I used signs that showed exactly how deeeep I was at every step, and still remain oblivious to the danger until the last second, but still show it. Of course, something simple like getting stung by a wasp is far more engaging and interactive, as you don't want to paralyze the audience, but instead get them to jump in with their own easy experience.
Oh, there's something else, most songs are signed exactly for the words, and not for their deeper meaning, I even consider songs as a bad way to develop signing skills, as it's too easy to fall into that trap. What's the difference between songs and stories? Songs are optimized for a very specific format, the stories behind the songs can be changed, affected, even compromised, for a rhyme, to keep the rhythm, the format over runs it. This means that in another language like ASL, those optimizations must be thrown out the window, as rhyming is based on how different words sound similar, and in ASL, the correlation is visual. Raw stories, they retain their visual information, so they are more optimal for ASL, making much better practice. In my above wading example, instead of rhyming, the focus is the water level, expressed spatially.

Sure thing, Andre. Glad you find helpful!
do you script these videos, if yes then how are you able to remember what to say next, or do you use teleprompter
I usually vary that amongst the videos. Some I do with a teleprompter, some without! Depending a bit on how comfortable and high energy I feel.lmk if that helps :)
I came here from an Instagram reel by only Zita hat mentioned you. Just this short video and I know why he recommended you. You have a new subscriber 🤗 I've been working time draining 9-5s, but I'm looking to go all in on creating content and doing freelance, so I'm learning storytelling tips to create better videos and captions. May you prosper and your channel gain it's worthy position! ❤❤
Aww, thanks so much. Your message made my day 🥰
The silence, exaclty like the news I was watching when I was a child. I always wondered why are they doing that, what is that silence before the speech starts )) Thanks for the answer. !
Ah true, in the news they do that as well. Good catch. But yeah, the silence is very awkward at the beginning, but can be very powerful!
❤❤❤❤
Thx mate
I recently read chapter 5 of your storytelling Book. Could you pls make a video that explains and gives more examples on telling Connection stories?
