  • Bikers and 2nd amendment rights go together like mom and apple pie. Motorcycle riders rank their concealed carry weapons (everyday carry or EDC) and pocket pistols right up there with modifying their bikes, but where is the best place and the best way to carry your pistol while riding? In this video we will talk about bike mods, holsters, pistol sizes whether it be a small .380, 9mm, all the way up to a Colt Government 1911 .45 and where to put it when you are on the road.

Retired LEO. All of your suggestions were very good. The best and most important thing you said was not to leave it bouncing around inside. I have a Shield, Bodyguard, and Kahr, in .40 .380 and .45. All will fit in my back pocket but not very comfy on long ride. The most important thing is IF you get pulled over, let the officer know what and where you have it. Surprises could lead to bad day for all.

depending on the state requires you to. Oklahoma you do not need to give that info unless officer asks by state law. I let em know anyway. even hand them my ccl along with my license. i find that if you are up front with officers. keep your hands on the bars and shut you engine off before they step out of the car. chances are you'll just get a warning instead of a ticket. if you show concern for their safety like pulling way over out of the line of traffic and things I've mentioned. you are more likley to get a warning. I've been asked why I kept my hands on the bars before. i told the officer for his and my safety. told him i had a firearm. told him where it was on me told him where my license was and i was slowly reaching for my wallet on the opposite side of my firearm. he asked for insurance told him i was reaching for my phone it was on an app. after five minutes i went away with a warning and he thanked me for thinking of his saftey. officer want to go home too

Yea when I get pulled over I hand over my license, registration, insurance, and carry permit. I've been asked afterwards if I was carrying and said yes on my right hip, nothing else said. Had another just hand back the carry permit and said, I don't need this, no questions about firearms. Mileage will vary with each officer. But I live in Georgia so people carrying is not a surprise here at all... In a blue state the Officer might be scared out of lack of dealing with that type of scenario.

    • @spencerific93
      @spencerific93 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I've heard that information should generally not be disclosed unless the cop asks you directly. Then again, I'm sure this does vary greatly depending on the state and the man who pulled you over.

Thanks for your service sir. That's Solid advice, first words after "hello officer" should be, " I have a firearm in ______ ."
Most times the officer will ask you to get off your bike or out of your vehicle to check & secure the weapon ,(whatever you do let the officer recover it don't try to help) a lot of times they don't even request it. Main thing is to be upfront about having it. L.E.O.'S number 1 job everyday, is going home after work....(5 Leo's in my immediate family they all say that same thing)..... They will shoot you if they think you're going to stop them from that goal ....
      Ride safe .

In the past, my travels have taken me through multiple states and I have to comply with different situations. So my 380 lives in a "quick draw" type holster in the lid of my saddlebag and the mag (fully loaded) is in my pocket. I test and refresh my abilities to ready myself for a shot frequently. I'm an old Marine that believes in being ready for "whatever". I know what states are open carry and which ones will confiscate your sidearm in a heartbeat. The times are changing and we need to keep up with the craziness or we will pay the price!!!!

Remember to always check regulations when you are traveling, because laws vary state to state. I've been in Law Enforcement for many years and that is the best thing you can do when traveling. What's not a problem in one state, may be a felony in another. However, carry when you can. Would rather have it and never need it then need it and not have it.

@Straalen Streams I am aware of the 2nd amendment and what it's says. I agree 100% the government should not be able to tell you when, what, or how to carry. However, if you read what I stated, I said, the best thing you can do. Unfortunately there are laws in places that the act of carrying a firearm can cause you trouble. I am simply stating that to prevent problems and possible criminal charges, you might want to know the laws where you plan to travel. To anyone that wants to carry, God bless you. To the other part of your statement, I don't know where in what I said leads you to believe I am either a coward or a traitor. To the best of my knowledge, we don't know each other, so I am not sure how you are able to form such a strong opinion about me. I have nothing but love in my heart for people who believe in and back the constitution of this great country. God bless you brother. I wish you safety and prosperity in your life.

Some great concepts here. Another retired LEO; it is hard for me to even consider a primary CC sidearm other than on my person as sometimes stuff happens quickly, and retrieving something quickly from inside a 'Wing's bag is not possible. An IWB holster at about 4 0'clock seems comfortable and reduces the visibility unless you are sparsely clothed in the south. Carrying a mouse gun in your front pocket works... but I decided to nap one warm day on a ride and found that is incompatible with holding a straight line and staying upright. Oddly enough no broken bones - except a little fracture exactly where the pistol was on the front of my hip when I kissed a fence. Life is risk... and managing it.

“No Guns Allowed” is just a suggestion. In my state you have to be verbally and directly asked to leave and take your gun with you, that is if they even know you have one. 99.99999% of the time the gun is in my jacket or vest, or IWB. Never left on the bike. As an FFL, there’s no way I could justify not being in immediate control of a firearm. The ATF would have my nuts in a vise.

My EDC is my trusty Walther PPQ. I’ve had her since Walther came out with it. I haven’t found anything with a better trigger, and I can knock a hair off a gnats ass with her! 😉 I shouldn’t admit this, I appendix carry because I’m fat, and I often holster it and forget it, out of sight, out of mind, go where I want to go, act like I own the joint. For concealed carry: it may sound off but a fanny pack (something similar) its on your person, and if the wind blows others will only see a bag and be less concerned. For open carry: hip works as long as its secure, or shoulder holster. Biggest you are willing to carry is a good point, but also a holster that can support the weight. As for dealing with magnets and speakers, the speaker magnet has to overcome all other forces and a magnet next to it could damage/hinder its proper use and may end up distorting or damaging.

Also locks up check book and some cash for road trips.

shoulder holster. Also my cut has a gun pocket. Im in Az . No permits needed for open or concealed carry. And my piece IS a Colt 1911. Dont care what it weighs. Its fine in the shoulder holster. Weighs my cut down though. I either carry my Colt combat elite or my actual factual made in 1943 M1911A1 government issue with matching numbers . The old girl still shoots just fine!

I like the sig P 938 9mm with the BRG 7mag grip it fits in a large hand and provides a pinkie finger grip. I put it in the front slope of my left saddle bag with a Prepcision mount that lets you slide the rack if you don’t want it to be loaded you just push down and your locked cocked and ready for business. I really like this setup.

My typical day to day carry is my M & P Shield 9mm IWB. On the bike for extended rides is a full size M & P in a shoulder rig under the cut/jacket. Of course if I end up in a place that won't allow me to carry inside, I have a biometric car safe that tethers inside the saddle bag...

When I'm riding, I carry either a 3" 1911, or a sig P229 in a Galco shoulder holster. If I need it, I need it NOW, not "wait til I stop, get off, and open up my Tour Pack or Saddle Bag." JMO.

Great advice. I heard you should carry the one you shoot best and carries/conceals comfortably. The answer for me is my Sig P938. In the saddlebag is my CZ P-07 9mm. I train with that one, too. Too big/heavy on the hip, though.

Too bad the little compartments on the fairing aren’t lockable. That would still be a good place to keep one while your on the bike. I keep mine on my person. Concealed means concealed though. If I don’t have to go through a metal detector then it stays with me.

But I second the locking compartments request !
Garage door opener, gloves, sun glasses, highway payment device ...
A lot of stuff could find its place in there but here you can't leave anything unlocked otherwise it will be stolen.

I like the magnet idea. You gave me an idea to try. Secure a holster in one of the bags somehow. I'd really like something I can reach in the front somehow.... On the fairing, or near the fuel tank, but not overly obvious. Unfortunately, I'm at one firearm at the moment, a Taurus 24/7 40 cal. Heavy! I had zero issues carrying on my small bike, but the sofa on wheels(Goldwing) is a bit more difficult to carry the beast in comfort, and concealed. I will be picking something smaller this year before any long trips happen

Good common sense talk about an important topic. Personally, I don't want to have to reach into a saddlebag to acquire my piece.
In hot weather I don't wear a jacket (Georgia) and prefer not to open carry (it gives too much information) so I use a cross-shoulder manbag. Mine is leather, holds my cellphone, other small possibles and has a zippered pocket roomy enough for your G3, 17, BCC9, Beretta or 1911. The weight of the unit rides on my lap when in the saddle, so the shoulder strap rides weightless across my chest. I don't use a trigger guard since I can't really envision the possibility of the trigger being drawn all the way to the rear inadvertently.
The only drawback I see is the possibility of stupidly leaving the bag in a restaurant or bathroom. I leave the bag strap across my chest and shoulder in the first instance (again, the weight is on my lap) while dining. In the latter case, I make sure to hang the bag on the inside door of a stall-or on the doorknob if it is a private rest room.
I totally agree with your opinion about the 'best gun'; except I phrase it differently: "It is the gun you can put your hand to when you need it." Manbags are nice. The zipper for the large pocket (for your gun) is at the edge of the bag on the backside. I can unzip it surreptitiously if I think a situation looks like trouble and putting a hand inside the back side of the bag isn't nearly the giveaway that reaching for a waistband is. Amazon sold me mine for $15 some years ago.
I'm 80 if I can make it to Sunday and have been carrying on and off duty every day of my life since 1962, so I'm not just pulling these ideas out of my ass.
Ride safe and shoot low, they might be riding Shetlands.

ps. I own two G3's. The first thing I did was superglue the safeties. Problem solved.

I got fat guy problems, so if it's going to be a long fuckn day I use a shoulder holster with level two retention. If it's going to be an on and off kinda day or I plan on hitting a spot that don't allow colors I opt for the appendix inside the waste band. But as you guessed being a heavier guy, that tends to sucks if you're hammering out 300+ miles in a day as we often do in Maine. I think on average I do about 80 miles to get, to the meet up location. By then in the appendix holster, I'm already itching to switch to the shoulder holster. As far as clubhouses go, I have to leave my key in the bike, because my key doesn't come out of the bag if it's unlocked. I tend not to worry about that so much because 9 times out of ten someone is one bike detail anyway. On that 10th time is a clubhouse I visit regularly and trust them anyway, so I know 100% my shits not going to wonder off.

If you can find a badge that would fit one of the magnets on the bottom you could put a second one on the other side of a cover, it maybe hard on the paint and I think high heat will de-magnefy a magnet.

I got very lucky years ago, and stumbled across (really...had to do a double-take for it on the back counter at a pawn shop) a true Colt Compact Commander .45! Great price, size of an average .380...best pistol ever made (and why Colt stopped making them is beyond me...but they do make the Defender in .45 ACP still). I like my Ruger .45 Long Colt...but, well, that falls into the 'OMG, can you actually lift that?' perspective...but then again, it was the .454 Casull before Casull was born, too...

I rotate between a 1911 .45, springfield XD 4"9mm, and a sig 365. I pretty much exclusively use my kutte to carry, or Alien Gear's shoulder holster. On the rare occasion I need to stow my gun, or if I'm going to work, either my kutte gets rolled up and stowed in my locked bags, or the whole shoulder holster gets stowed. Never been a fan of leaving firearms loose anywhere, let alone my bags.

Google "slam fire shotgun". They are made from standard pipe and are easy and cheap to build. It's also easy to incorporate the sperate parts into the bike so they appear not to be gun parts. I keep mine in my tool bag as part of the tool roll. They are so cheap they are disposable and unrecognizable as gun parts when separate from each other. They are legal to build and have for personal use. You can't make and sell them to others. I was pulled over and searched including my tool roll getting taken apart without the officer realizing what he was looking at.
