    I would recommend that if you do the 3.5 lift that you get the control arms with the kit. If you leave factory control arms on then the angle of the ball joints will be too extreme of a angle, which excessive wear and premature failure will happen.

    I had the 2.5" kit, replaced it with this one. Get the included upper control arm kit. Perfect height with 33's

    • @miguelclaire5196

      I got the same kit 3.5” with upper control arms. Did your blocks come on as 1.5 or 3” ?? Just curious cuz mine were 1.5” and told me to stack them …

    • @71kman

      @@miguelclaire5196 3” . Try not to stack blocks

      I seen saw on lonestar Hawaiians video where he bought this exact kit and was told to stack blocks. He ended up getting another brands block which totaled the same height as the factory block and the supplied “stackable” block. Maybe rough country realized the issue and now offers the correct size block?

    I'm surprised they don't just include a drop bracket for the crossmember under the diff. Would save install time and be easier than cutting the crossmember and diff.

    Why not just include a new cross member to accommodate room for the differential? I would gladly pay to have that included, that's the only reason why I held back buying this. All kinds of mud, road salt, water, ect is all going to cake into that huge hole cut into it and rot it out. I hope you guys end up including one eventually like you ended up including control arms and proper struts for this kit. Then it will be perfect

    Makes me apprehensive to try them.

      I have a 4.5” zone on my 2014 and it rides like stock and is good quality
      Tbh tho if I could do it Over I’d probably do the 3.5” rough country or 3.5” super lift just cuz my fenders have to much gap between the 33” tires but not that much
      Also I feel like I’d probably get 1mpg better if I went with a 3.5” kit
      So yea this is my experience
      And if you went with 3.5” as long as you get the UCAs you should be good
      The zone will cost you 2x as much atleast and is a permanent kit where the 3.5” is reversible if you don’t like it

    • @Man_in_a_Gucci_Suit

      Also with my zone kit the wheels are pushed out an inch and a half on both sides in the front of the truck only which makes going through a drive thru annoying and sometimes makes parking harder I forgot to mention this

    • @RoughCountryTV
      @RoughCountryTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The kit with the control arms just has a different angled ball joint in it to correct the camber and hold the alignment without putting much stress on the ball joint

  • @westonmavis6566
    @westonmavis6566 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    So are the new control arms longer to fix the angles?

    • @RoughCountryTV

      The ball joints in this kit are MOOG ball joints. We use the afermarket joints to provide better angle on the upper arm and to help with camber adjustment for the alignment. They are press in bushings.

    And what is the difference in the knuckle kit, and the forged upper control arm kit? What is best?

    • @RoughCountryTV
      @RoughCountryTV  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The knuckle kit replaces the stock knuckles to reduce the angle on the tie rod and upper ball joint angle. The upper control arm kit has the different angled ball joint that mounts to the stock knuckle to correct that angle as well. The knuckle kit is the more popular option.

    this kit can go on top of a leveling kit right?

    • @RoughCountryTV
      @RoughCountryTV  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      No the leveling kit would need to be removed before you install this kit. This kit is also designed to lift and level. If you added the leveling kit with the 3.5" it would cause drive line, alignment and geometry issues because you would need crossmembers, knuckles, etc. to help retain the geometry of the suspension.

    I have a 2013 GMC Seira 1500 short bed with a 3.5 lift kit and the upper control arms ball joints lasted less than 5 1/2 months with rough country lift kit . The upper ball joints had no grease fittings and they squeaked have the time as if the ball joints were going and come to find out they were . I called the company and the acted surprised but replaced them with new ones that now have grease fittings but I still have to pay for the labor . I bought the truck from a GM dealer and the truck had 23425 miles on it and maybe that's why the previous owner traded it in . I should of gotten a car fax I guess but live and learn .

      No that is not recommended due to what it does to the geometry and drive line. I would recommend replacing the kit with the complete bigger kit rather than piecing together with the level strut and adding to it.

    I'm very disappointed that my 2015 has such small wheel wells! Your lift does nothing to installing larger tires, the tire you installed is 32.5" tall and 11.22" wide, I run 285-70x17" tires with absolutely no lift!! This doesn't increase wheel travel.. Although it does give it some much needed lift, why not include cut out fender flares that fit 37" tires?

    • @RoughCountryTV
      @RoughCountryTV  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not everyone likes the look of the fender flares and are ok with running the 285 on this lift. But the flares are sold separately so that they are available to those who would rather have them.

Only 2000km, on road use only, and my balljoint on Passenger side was working its way out. 1/8 of a gap. No snap ring to hold them in, just pressed. Useless design. I now have readylift uppers. And diff drop spacers.

    Remember fellas, when you buy a 3.5 lift, or any lift for that matter, take into consideration that they are removing the factory 1.5 inch block. and never re- compensating for It, which makes it look like your always hauling a load of dirt, not sure why these lift companies do that in my opinion I think its horrible looking..

      @fit4ya1975 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Yes sir, I understand that, but most people think, that a 3" block will give them 3" of lift, when in fact it only gives them an additional 1.5 inch lift over factory.. I learned the hard way on that lesson!! I still like Rough Country products. I was just speaking in general to help others understand the factory block is being removed and replaced
