      If only you could go back and tell your younger self. “Your spending $1000 on a helmet, getting a knee brace is just as important.”

    Great explanation Josh thanks 🙏 I too have the POD 4's with their sleeves underneath and should wear them more frequently, especially now I have a big BMW 1250 GSA which weighs 268 kg! Cheers Karl in Tassie

    Great job mate, thank you for an excellent review. I was on the fence but after your review I think I will get them. It is a huge investment but hopefully they last a while. Thank you again.

    Definitely worth the investment. I’ve been wearing the Leatt x frame braces for a few years now and love them. Feel naked without them now haha.

      Best way to describe it haha, feels weird to swing the leg over the bike without them!

      @@AusMoto absolutely mate. They do also get more comfortable over time. At least mine have. Thanks for the video mate. Hopefully it gets more people talkin about them.

    Good info mate, definitely bring those for the Widowmaker 😎🤘

      Haha 100% mate, if there's anywhere I have chance of blowing out my knees, it's that climb. The fact it looks gnarly on GoPro means it's 10x worse in real life haha!

      😆 true that lol. Hey why did you change your channel name? Just curious 😁

    • @AusMoto

      Two reasons, one was because I wanted to personalise it a little more and two, bloody SBS came out with a show not long after I changed the channel name to AusMoto and called their show 'The AusMoto Show', so wanted to distance myself from that a little...@@MVDBR

    After ripping my knee open from a collision with an emu, I can say yes, they are worth it, though i'm yet to buy a pair so this video is most useful 😁😆

    Well said mate. I can't dispute your logic. I don't have them but I can only make excuses like, they don't fit in my adv pants😢

      Cheers mate and yeah, it is hard to find ADV pants that accommodate them 😢

    My knees are buggered and I need to get braces just to prevent injury while riding. I think it’s like the old mechanical comparison with putting a v8 into a small car. All that power and the next weakest point will break. If you come off and snap a thigh bone because your knee dosent bent then your in a lit bigger world of hurt.
    Thanks for the info and review

      No worries mate and yeah, definitely worth it especially if your knees are already a bit compromised!

    to prevent the chafing i recommend fist knee socks or the pod knee brace sleeves both around the same price

    • @AusMoto

      I forgot to mention it in the video but I do use knee brace socks. I might give the pod knee brace sleeves a go though!

    If it is going to transfer enough load to break a femur I can't imagine what it would do to an unprotected knee

    • @AusMoto

      Yeah, 100%

  • @BigDaveTALKS

    I just prefer knee guards. Mostly because of, as you mentioned, the price of braces. They are insane. I think it's really rider preference because we do hear both the good and bad, but like you mention, It's all about muscle memory and eventually you won't even notice them.
    I have tore my biceps tendon and yeah, that was a 3 month vacation before I was 100%. Had surgery on my knee 20 years ago, it still bothers me. I agree, bone over tendon/ligament any day.

    • @AusMoto

      Yeah mate, I wore knee guards for the longest time but as I mentioned in the video, after my brother blew his ACL I just didn’t want to go through that (not that the brace will prevent it but reducing any risk is worth it for me).

    • @BigDaveTALKS

      @@AusMoto Oh I totally understand. I was in an Airborne unit in the Army and saw many knee related injuries, and later on my son blew his ACL out playing basketball. You have all the right thinking to protect yourself as much as possible and when I think more, the cost of those knee braces are much less than a trip to the doctor.

    Great Idea Bro, how many times do you glance of a branch that's around that height also, it makes sense to have foot to pelvis protection, as you know I stack it a bit, man it feels food to land on your knees, even when doing roadside maintenance. They have saved me many times, one thing I find after multiple days in them.. man it feels good to get them off, the straps start getting a little uncomfortable, but besides that they rock..

    • @AusMoto

      Yeah man, they’re a good bit of kit but you’re right, taking them off after a long day is a bloody good feeling.
