      @@rmatvmc So I have a bad left knee from a snowboarding crash when I was 17, had a meniscal tear and had to have surgery, knee was never the same since, so I was a bit worried I wouldn't like the K4's as the left knee is still a bit wocky. Anyway, tried the K4's today during a 3 hour private MX coaching session and was absolutely stoked on how comfortable and secure my knees felt. Forgot I was wearing them after about five mins! Had a great ride on my 450sxf! Very cool product, super happy with it!

    that rubber elastic thing that is holding the top knee to the bottom. Are they replaceable? or comes with extras? I mean, what if somehow it snaps off or gets cut off.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These braces have a modular design that allows you to replace most of the parts. So yes, you are able to replace the impact guards that have the elastic straps connecting them.

    Hey Chase! I’m a long time EVS brace user, transitioning to K4s. EVS braces have knee side spacers, similar to yours however they aren’t tapered like the K4s are. I’m trying to figure out how the tapered edge should go. Should the thicker part be closer to the knee cap, or closer to the inside of the knee? Both ways feel the same to me. However, they must be designed for one way, otherwise they would just be flat like the EVS spacers. Does my question make sense?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Steve. I understand what your talking about. You would want the skinny part of the spacer towards the knee cap. But I don't think it makes much of a difference.

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A simple fix for you mobius to keep pants from getting caught is buy a cheap knee brace sleeve and wear it over top of the brace and that won't happen. I had the same issue and that fixed it for me. - Chase

    Following the measurement chart I am size L. But in size L the pressure point on the fibula bone is a bit too much. Should I size up or consider a different brand that fits differently?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't know if that pressure point would change very much with a different size. You may need to try a different brand. I would suggest the Mobius or the Asterisk Carbon Cell. - Chase

    Hey Chase. I am a total weekend warrior but have bad knees (Perks of being 6'7). Are these fine for the average rider or are the K8 2.0's worth the $300 difference?
    Also, what are you wearing under the brace at 1:26?

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hi Jacob, thanks for the question. Yes, these are great for the average rider looking for a good protective and supportive set of braces. I would get the K4 2.0 all day. They're barely a few ounces heavier and not as rigid, but the K4 is still more rigid then many other braces in my opinion. I'd save your money and go with the k4. Food for thought, I just rode in the new bionic 7 knee brace from Alpinestars this week and I was very impressed with those as well. Very lightweight and low profile. You can't go wrong with either one. Let me know if I can help out any more. Thanks. - Chase

    • @rmatvmc

      I would choose the PODs. The Leatt C-frame is just too bulky for me. It's not a bad brace but I prefer the PODs. I had a pair for two years with no issues, comfortable and durable. - Chase

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Jose. Are they the 2.0? Are the K8s the right size? Other than the frame being made a little different, the only other difference between the two is the K8 2.0 has on more size than the K4 2.0, makes it a little easier getting the best fit possible. That's why it's nice when you buy from us and use our fit guarantee. You could try both on and keep the one that fits the best. How come none of these braces offer thigh or, shin ce level 2 impact protection??

    • @OSR_1
      @OSR_1 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s not a standard thing, I don’t even think the CE tests class the thigh and the shin as impact zones, only abrasion.. which is what your outer shell (pant) is for if riding on road. Off road this is obviously less of a concern, especially with boots etc which paired with braces will offer significant protection to your shins.
      As for the knee (patellar) protection which all knee armor CE ratings road and off-road are based, I believe CE2 would simply require the knee brace to be far too bulky and inflexible in order to reach that standard. I believe the stats on off-road knee injuries show that the majority of injuries are related to hyper extension and twisting etc, which is different to road where it is far more impact heavy.

    Do they slide up and down? I was thinking of getting a knee sleeve

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They stay in place pretty good. The Alpinestars or Leatt knee brace sleeve pants will keep them in place really well. I usually like to wear a knee brace sleeve over the top of mine to keep the straps from getting caught on velcro and I do think it helps them stay in place a little better. - Chase

    • @rmatvmc
      @rmatvmc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, Garrit. I also have the Caron Cells but I haven't had any hot spots. As for the PODs, I had those for about two years and I didn't have any hot spots on the shins. I think the PODs do have a little more padding at the top and bottom. - Chase
