I started a low histamine diet because of gut issues. I ended up “curing” my chronic migraine. I have had migraines for over 15 years and only thing that has helped so far has been Botox and beta blockers. Now even my neurologist is very impressed and interested. A big Spanish study shows that many people with migraines have a DAO deficiency. It’s the enzyme braking down histamine. So I would highly recommend anyone with migraines to try a low histamine diet for some time. For me it has totally changed my life.
Thanks for sharing this, I have suffered Migraines for over 46 years, I have noticed that Histamines are one trigger but I wasn't aware of the DAO enzyme.
I took 3 courses of metronidazole (antibiotic) for an absessed tooth a year ago. Over the past year i have gradually developed worse and worse intestinal inflammation. I suspected Candida overgrowth as i had bad Candida and a massive allergy to Candida Albicans 30 years ago after a doctor bombarded me with antibiotics for what turned out to be gladular fever, not even a bacterial infection. So i recently went to an allergy specialist to test for Candida Albicans again, and came back with positive allergy to Candida Albicans and dust, albeit more mildly. I cut out yeast, sugar, fermented foods like soy sauce but noticed Wheat would also trigger bad intestinal inflammation. So i went back to the allergy doctor to test for fungi and wheat. I wasn't allergic to the filler at the first visit, but by the second visit i became allergic to the filler used during testing. The doctor said "You must be very sensitive". So i was going to test for a range of foods over a few visits, but i had to scrap that idea and will have to do an elimination diet and slowly reintroduce foods to find out what triggers inflammation in my intestines. I will also start on the Bismuth-Thiol complex treatment protocol in the new year, together with antifungals, antimicrobials and binders to transport the Candida and whatever else out of my body. Pkus reintroduction of good bacteria to repopulate my bowels. I'm quite confident after watching Dr. Anderson's videos that my allergies are due to deterioration of the gut microbiome in my intestines, and that healing this problem will slowly over time calm down my food allergies. It's very true that simple avoidance as the only strategy likely will only lead to more and more allergies and a more and more restrictive diet. I'm so glad that there are knowledgeable doctors putting out this information on the gut microbiome as my local doctor is completely clueless about this issue. I will ask her for a referral to a Gastroenterologist this week but I'm not at all confident they would make any different at all. Dr. Anderson is correct, you need to disrupt the fungal biofilms to get effective eradication of the Candida/other microbe overgrowths. Without this, in bad cases the symptoms will only keep recurring. SO glad i found his protocol online. 🎉
I've gotten full anaphylaxis responses from eating food but 3 separate allergy tests (via allergists) revealed no allergies. I often get 'milder' responses like gut disturbances, skin rashes, lethargy, etc from incidental exposures to histamine containing or stimulating foods. It feels like I'm allergic to life.
Buy DAO enzyme and take with meals and see if you feel better. Get on Quercitin 250-500mg a day. Last take Pepcid 10-20 mg antacid...it lowers Histamine and anti inflammatory. All of it helps. Finally you need a good probiotic daily. Got to change the gut bacteria
I feel your pain! I watch friends eat wonderful chocolate cake, etc and I’m so jealous. No more guacamole, shrimp…at least for now. I’m going to go to a dermatologist from John’s Hopkins in the hope that he’ll give me something that I can at least eat some of the foods mentioned. Do fabrics also give you reactions? It happens to me, as does the plastic threads that rub against my skin…total breakout with hives and swelling.
Sally Norton is an authority on oxylates. Its tiny microscopic crystals found in vegetables, spinach & beets are high in oxylates for example that cause histamine activation and inflammation that can be quite severe.
These symptoms are affecting younger and younger people too, its so debilitating and not knowing what foods trigger this reaction is confusing. Gut mast cell problems are becoming more common. Sally Norton is an authority on oxalates that cause alot of these symptoms too.
My histamine intolerance dissapeared when I started treated myself as if I have B12 deficiency with every other day hydroxocobalamin injections. This without being properly diagnosed. It took maybe two months of treatment though. And it wasn't until I added iron supplement when I all of a sudden could eat anything without getting severe palpitations and debilitating fatigue for hours after meals. But since I never was properly diagnosed with B12 deficiency I eventually stopped the injections and started believing it was something else since I kept feeling fine... And that lasted about 5 months when all symptoms came back with full force. One of the first thing I started experience was histamin intolerance. Then I got neuropathies, brainfog, blurry vision etc. It all came after a period of severe stress. This time I started treating again I don't get equally strong reaction from the injections... I go more slow with adding folate due to the fact that I got much worse neuropathies once I started introducing folate. Some said it was waking up symptoms or reversing out symptoms... But I don't know. My whole saddle/genital area became completely numb as if I had had anestesia of the lumbar spine or something. This time the same thing has happened but a bit slower since I'm afraid to add folate. The protocol I'm on says 5mg daily. My blood glucose levels increases greatly as soon as I add folate and the other co factors as well. I thing I go in and out of keto asidosis and/or lactate acidosis. I've also considered it to be thiamine deficinecy but I can't tell for sure.
Wow I have a very similar symptoms, my Natropath just started me on bio available b12 and benfotamine, but the b1 made extremely unwell, like I was hungover without drinking any alcohol ( cuz I get allergic reactions to alcohol) so I had to stop the benfo, but I also have severe restless legs that had to be treated with methadone Ciz the meds made it worse and I couldn’t sleep for 6+ months, I got the restless legs under control by using a high quality iron supplement, which also got rid of my lethargy and brain fog temporarily, this was prior to my b13 treatment, so I figured I’d solved it, but I hadn’t but after reading your comment I’m eager to add iron again, thing is though the iron can make me feel like I’ve had too much for a day and then the next day I feel good, I put this down to sleep he fact that restless legs is partly due to low iron in the brain and my iron levels in my blood are apparently not bad, but I’m guessing it takes a day for the iron to get into the brain. I also discovered I have sibo and toxic mould in my house as well as mcas and perhaps oxalate issues, could you have toxic mould? Have you had any water leaks? Cuz it took me 4 years to figure out I had toxic mould, we had a blocked pipe and never knew cuz the flooding would happen in an area we couldn’t see unless we were looking , plus you couldn’t see or smell any Mould. @@zakyvids6566 Hi! I had mainly palpitations after meals and pretty severe diastolic blood pressure spikes. Also if my heart rate came down somewhat, just the slightest movement or positional change made the heart rate go up over a houndred within seconds. It all started back in 2021 and I had these issues until I started treating it as if it was a classic B12 deificiency last year. I then paused the treatment after a few months and all my symptoms came back a month ago. I'm not sure that B12 deficiency is the cause though. I also have changes in my vision... I started see big rainbow halos around light sources, a worsening of pulsating tinnitus, a low pitch pulsating humming sound that comes and goes, I see so called "star bursts" around light sources. In the beginning and first years I had double vision that came and went. I did have suspected lyme disease like 8 months prior of the onset of symptoms, but what really triggered it to become debilitating was when I first tried propanolol. I had like pretty subtile POTS symptoms. But when I tried propanolol my heart rate changed and never normalized afterwards. I developed pretty severe hyperadronegic POTS and then I started getting numb in my genitals and eventually developed severe back pain. I went to the ER multiple times but was sent home without any help. Eventually they let me have an MRI since they suspected cauda equina syndrome but the MRI came back normal. When I learned about MCAS like 3 years later I think a low histamin diet and anti histamines helped a little... But not as much as B12 injections and folinic acid as well as iron suppliment. I have now treated for like 3 weeks with every other day injections with hydroxocobalamin. I also was taking magnesium, about 250mg daily and potassium through food about 4000mg. I haven't yet got the the same baseline as I was earlier this year before I stopped the injections... And I'm not sure I will. I still believe there can be missing pieces to the puzzle. I also have pins and needles in hands, feet and saddle area as well as numbness and altered sensations in general. It could've been covid that caused this or mold, or a combination.
