Thor was Odin’s favored son but Loki was Frigga’s. You can tell just how much that developed each of their relationships from Odin and Loki’s constant antagonism to Loki being magic oriented like his mother. They even use the same hologram tricks.

Funny: In the first film, Thor was the brash and reckless one, always looking for a fight and to completely destroy his enemies without mercy, while Odin was the calm and peaceful one, always looking for a solution without violence.
In The Dark World, the roles switched: Thor became humbled and more level-headed, while Odin starts to lose his shit after Frigga died.

    • @calvinkopp1735
      @calvinkopp1735 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Yeah. Odin from the comics would never have done that. He wouldn’t have acted that way. Odin is the most powerful god in Asgard as well as the wisest, he never let his emotions cloud his judgment and fuel his ego and then the writers retconed him to be egotistical cranky old god.

    1. Loki is meant to be a likable villain so don't worry you are not the only one who feels sorry for him and hopes he turns good
    2. Dark Elves thrive in the darkness , it's not that they want to destroy nine realms and then rebuild them , they want the universe to turn back to it's state of darkness and destruction because that's their natural habitat so it has a good effect on them , every time you were like "won't that affect you as well?" I was like "ummm .... yes, that's kind of the point"

All this words about sacrificing himself not for Odin but for Thor and so on...but during the close-show (sorry for not knowing the exact definition, but the film was shown to a small group of people) audience was so upset about the fact that Loki died so directors decided to keep him alive and made this scene with "Odin" and Thor in the end.

An enjoyable sequel, I certainly have enjoyed it more than most. I always liked that it was having more fun with the concepts of Thor and his mythos. Malekith is a very bland villain unfortunately and I always have felt it would have made more sense for his conflict to have been familial, similar to Loki and the frost giants from the first movie. That would have made his aim to restore the Dark World more personal, say if it had been his father who had originally sought to take the universe back into primordial darkness and Odin had killed him. Malekith could have been struggling between using the Aether to restore his realm and people, and being consumed by vengeance against Asgard. I personally can't help but wonder how Patty Jenkins who was originally was tapped to direct this movie would have handled the story; what she would have done differently. Oh well. Things are only about to get more fun and exciting, and dare I say even more emotional. : )

Most people call this film bad. But see was it bad? Nope. You totally loved the film. So did I. This film is PERFECT 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. In fact the whole MCU is PERFECT💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. I never found anything bad or boring in MCU. They always show us something new in every film or episode. Marvel is the BEST💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖. So I don't care about other people's opinions anymore. I think you should stop caring about others' opinions too.

I don't think Jane had anything to do with the Aether being released, that was the convergence doing that. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. And... if not for her Malekith may have gotten it sooner and that would have been really bad... So long story short, not her fault! :o)

Don't worry about the infinity stones too much. You will learn more about them as you go. As we all saw the movies in theaters, we all tried to figure out what they are and where they were. At this point, you know there are six total. The Aether being the main one in The Dark World. And the Tesseract, which, as stated, is in Odins Vault. You of course know this one from The Avengers and Captain America. You should ask yourself (as we all also were) if you may know of any other stones from the previous movies. After all, you probably weren't thinking the Tesseract was one. But because of that post credits scene, NOW you know it is one. It was known by fans at the time that the stones were going to play a larger role. What that was was not yet known. As you watch, you should keep your eyes open for more of them. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and predictions about them.

In the comics, Malekith is half Dark Elf and half Frost Giant
I agree with you but in Avengers 1 (this movie takes place right after), Loki was under the influence of the blue gem in his "Spear" (scepter)
Heimdall can't see the Dark Elves ship because it's magic-based cloaking
9:30 those are black hole grenades
13:54 the glowing lines look like that of the Bifrost. It looks like the same energy
When Loki died, his color darkened. That's because of his Frost Giant heritage
Loki actually died, but he found out that he could come back because of his Frost Giant heritage
You can tell that's not Odin because his 2 ravens are not there
On the bridge to the Bifrost, you can see a line. That's from when Thor destroyed it in the fist movie

If it have been anyone else but Jane that was drawn into the portal, Darcy or one of the kids, Thor would not have gotten involved nor brought them back to Asgard; the Dark Elves would have come to Earth instead and got the Aether from them with no one else but humans involved! And yes Darcy or the kids would have gotten too close to the Aether as well, out of curiosity.

This is my least favorite movie of the MCU franchise. The characters are more bland and boring than they used to be. The villain was dull and has no personality. Loki has enough personality for all the characters in this movie. Plus he has more screen time and character development than Thor, so it feels like Loki’s movie.

One of the things I enjoy about watching newcomers react to these movies is how they have the chance to take in each one on it's own instead of being influenced by "Fandom" (long story short: being a fan is great, Fandom can be a rat's nest of judgemental crybabies) , and form their own opinions. Sometimes when a reactor likes a movie that isn't always looked back on fondly it can make me reassess my own feelings about it. So ignore it when "everybody" tells you the generally accepted opinion of which MCU films are best, and just like what YOU like.

1:52 and Odin was going to execute him if not for Frigg (and hey don't they have prisoners rights ? Why can't his mum ever visit him ?)
Sometimes I really doubt Odin really ever loved Loki the way he acts with him. That would explain a lot. I would really like to know more about how their relationship was (I guess I need to put that in my list of MCU fanfics to check out).
Loki isn't really wrong when he says later that Odin killed more people than Loki did, although it was (for the most part) in quite a different context. A war vs an invasion is not exactly the same thing.
My Loki stanning is surprisingly very recent ^^" though, so my analysis are brand new for this character.

1:40 As a king or really, any leader, you cannot ignore the crimes of your family out of compassion for them or simply because of family ties, especially not when they are on the scale that Loki perpetrated (including insurection, attempted murder of his brother, attempted Genocide on the Frost Giants, murdering scores of innocents and leading an invasion on a mostly defenseless planet that officially is under your protection) - and he has also shown to not be trustworthy at all, so any words of regret he may give you couldn't be believed either.
There have to be consequences - and to fully rehabilitate such a person, you would need extraordinary circumstances or you risk simply looking like you prefer your family over justice, which is a quick way to lose respect and trust in the eyes of your subjects.
People don't think highly of a corrupt government.

I think the main problem of this movie is Odin. Somehow, they manage to completely forgot his philosophy. In the first movie he was like "a true king just seeking for his people sake" and in the second he's like "they killed my wife ! I'll kick their ass until the last Asgardian's breath ! Fuck it !!!"
    It's make no sense.
And the fact that without Jane, nothing would have happened. Don't get me wrong, this is not a single case in marvel, but in this case, it was really obvious.

Not true, he can summon lightning and technically create hurricanes too but he's not got power over all weather. And if Thor could stop it raining, wouldn't he have stopped it from landing on him instead of standing there getting drenched lol

@@anouar3194 Thor has controlled rain and other elements in some versions/comics but in others (and seemingly in the MCU) he has the power of summoning lightning through the hammer and was able to create a tornado through the force of spinning it round. But if he had the power to control the rain to cause it to not rain over Jane then surely he'd have done that for himself too. This movie specifically shows portals to other realms appearing due to the convergence and the aether, and it doesn't seem to be a coincidence that as soon as she absorbs the aether she doesn't get rained on and it follows her when she moves.
