I know this video's a year old, but I thought I'd share a fun fact with you. Sif, the black-haired warrior woman Odin is trying to set up with Thor, is actually Thor's wife in the myths.
Bonus Fun Fact: They're not related in the MCU but I'm pretty sure Thor & Heimdall are half-brothers in the myths.

Loki was actually slated to die in this movie... but the test audiences did not believe that he was actually dead for one moment, so they decided to change the movie so that he didn't die XD But yeah, it is 1500% alright to root for Loki. He is awesome.

The rain around Jane part reminded me of one of the Dirk Gently novels by Douglas Adams (the creator of Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy). One of the side characters is a long distance truck driver. Unknown to him, is that he's also a Rain God. Rain follows him ALL THE TIME. He lives in the rain. He's miserable, listening to weather reports about sunny, bright etc knowing all he ever gets is rained on.

The Collector really is trustworthy, but he's not a good guy. But he's not a bad guy either. All he really cares about is his collection. He's not above doing something unethical for the sake of adding to his collection, but he's not out to kill anyone or rule the universe or anything like that. In the comics, he's one of a group of beings called The Elders of the Universe. Each one has a particular obsession. This one is obsessed with collecting cosmic artefacts. Another is obsessed with games. One is obsessed with travelling all around the universe. Some of them are outright horrible people, and some are somewhat decent.

    • @DragonbIaze052
      @DragonbIaze052 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The story behind the actor you don't recognize that plays Thor's friend (Fandral) is kind of wild. Zachary Levi (Chuck, Shazam) was originally cast to play the character in the first film, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with the show Chuck he was on, so it got recast with Josh Dallas. For Thor 2, Josh Dallas had scheduling conflicts, so the role ended up going back to Levi, who had finished Chuck by then.

For the immortal thing, in the Avengers Loki poses to Thor "these people think us immortal..shall we test that theory?" (after trapping Thor in the glass holding cell meant to house Banner if he loses control). Meaning Loki and Thor either don't really know the limits of their mortality at that point, or do know, and Loki is purposefully trying to kill Thor (more likely)
I think many like Loki because it's pretty clear he's doing what he's doing out of spite and anger for the position he's in. He feels cheated and wronged because he was born a Frost Giant. While not all of this is relatable, there are parts of his story that are. And he's for sure more deep than any other villain at this point in the MCU.

I think Loki was possessed by the power of that mind control staff in the first Avengers movie. Although Loki certainly is looking for power in most of the MCU, that power is much more rooted in being accepted and beloved, and is calm and calculating. But in Avengers, he's much more crazed and wanting to rule by domination. He wanted his subjects to kneel to him and submit their will, something in common with well somebody else tied to the staff.

The Asgardians are susceptible to old age. In Marvel lore, Asgard is a cosmic realm and as such viewed as aliens. The Norse people would have had an encounter with them in ancient history. As an advanced alien race the ancient Norsemen would have viewed them as gods much like if a person from the dark ages of Earth would view us as gods with our superior advanced tech and weapons. Great reaction Em

I like the fact that you were able to enjoy all the movies you've seen! I definitely agree. Although I like some more than others, I don't really find any of the Marvel movies to be straight up terrible. I haven't been a gigantic fan of some of the most recent ones but overall they're still pretty entertaining and I plan to keep watching the movies and shows. Maybe going into it with no preconceived notions about the characters and storylines allowed you to experience it the best way possible. I think lots of times the people who get the most disappointed are those who grew up reading comics and have a very specific idea about how the movies should be. So in that sense, not having any previous knowledge of this stuff is your superpower of sorts lol

Asgardians live for about 5000 years. Thor is about 1500 right now.
In actual Norse myth, Borr was the father of Odin, and his brothers Vili and Ve, who all three slew the first of the frost giants, Ymir, and created Midgard from his body parts. Svartalfheim is one of the Nine Realms of the World Tree Yggdrasill, and literally means "dark elf land". It is thought by some that the dvergr (dwarves) and the svartalfar are one and the same, though nothing in the Eddas specifically points to that.
Vanaheim is the realm of the Vanir, a cousin race of gods to the Aesir (Thor's family). The Vanir are mostly gods of the wild places, such as Njordr, god of the sea and father of Freyr and Freya who join their kin in Asgard. His wife is Skadi, goddess of the winter hunt, accompanied by her faithful wolf Kaldr.
Also in the myths, Sif is Thor's wife, and she has the most beautiful long blonde hair. Loki, as a prank, shaved her bald, and when Thor discovered his mischief, he put the fear into him so badly that he swore he would make it right, so Loki had the dwarves fashion a wig of pure gold for Sif, and also had them make Mjolnir for Thor, along with the other implements he needed to wield the hammer: Jarngreipr, the iron gauntlets that would allow Thor to catch Mjolnir without injury; and Megingjordr, the Belt of Giant Strength.
The blonde guy is Fandral, one of the Warriors Three, he was recast for this film (previously played by Josh Dallas)

So the Warriors Three did appear on Earth (Midgard). Fandral the Dashing is the blonde with the mustache. This outing Fandral was played by actor Zachary Levi. Next is Volstagg the Voluminous...he is the heavyset one. Then Hogun the Grim who is the one with the mace and reminiscent of Attila the Hun. Then there is their companion the Lady Sif who is usually a love interest for Thor at least in the comics.

Hey, Emme! This is my favorite Thor movie despite it not being well-regarded. It is also the final film to embrace the character's medieval fantasy roots. Even though Hemsworth's Thor is mined for some sensational comedy in future entries, I always preferred the pseudo-Shakespearean version from the first two films as that was more faithful to his comic book depiction. "The Dark World" feels both Tolkienian and space operatic with the vaulted palaces, stentorian declarations and eldritch sorcery of the former as well as the cloaked vessels, energy weapons and unstable wormholes of the latter. The plot flips the fish-out-of-water scenario of the first film by having Natalie Portman's Jane Foster travel to Asgard but then quickly escalates into having to avert a universal holocaust and to contend with a grievous personal loss. Thor is opposed by two classic villains from the comics: Kurse and the Dark Elf King Malekith.
It is profoundly appropriate for Alan Taylor to have helmed this installment as he is a veteran director of "Game of Thrones", a show known for castle sieges, royal intrigue and savage warfare! The ancient war with Svartalfheim led by Bor, Thor's grandfather, in the prologue is gloriously brutal while the invasion of and escape from Asgard are thrilling sequences! The chaotic world-hopping at the end is delightfully imaginative especially as Mjolnir tries to keep track of its master. I especially like how Asgardian tech like the design of their skiffs provided the template for the Norse longboat when humans came into contact with these aliens. The most remarkable technology belongs to the Dark Elves, though, who have harnessed the power of miniature black holes to function as singularity drives that propel their Harrow ships and as IMPLOSION grenades that devastatingly compact everything in their blast radius to a microscopic point!
The cast is top-notch yet again. A magnificently chiseled Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor Odinson aka Thor to portray a conflicted prince torn between two worlds. Tom Hiddleston brings incredible nuance and duplicity to Loki Laufeyson aka Loki, now a captive after his "Avengers" exploits. Anthony Hopkins, gruff and regal as ever, returns as Odin. Rene Russo's Frigga is given more of a showcase and her compelling death pays dividends down the line. The Warriors Three are also on hand with Ray Stevenson as Volstagg, Tadanobu Asano as Hogun and Zachary Levi replacing Josh Dallas as Fandral. The gorgeous Jaimie Alexander returns as Lady Sif to provide some romantic tension before leaving the role behind. Although she reprised the part for two episodes of "Agents of SHIELD", an episode of "Loki" and a cameo in "Thor: Love and Thunder", her starring role in TV's "Blindspot" prevented her character from completing a satisfying arc and she remains one of the MCU's criminally underused opportunities. Idris Elba lends his gravitas and sonorous voice to Heimdall again. Natalie Portman meets the parents as Dr. Jane Foster with Stellan Skarsgard as an addled Dr. Eric Selvig and Kat Dennings as snarky Darcy Lewis returning as well. Darcy has her own intern this time in the form of Jonathan Howard's Ian Boothby and Chris O'Dowd's sad sack Richard has the impossible task of being Jane's rebound guy! Although underwritten, Christopher Eccleston is appropriately cold and ruthless as Malekith. In the comics, he is gleefully vicious but lacks that dark joy on screen. Although it's colored purple-and-black in the comics, the villain's dichromatic face is represented after the right side of his white visage gets scorched black by lightning. Adewale is impressive as the hulking, indomitable Kurse. Tony Curran, in heavy wig and armor, portrays Grandpappy Bor in flashback, Clive Russell of "Game of Thrones" plays Einherjar Commander Tyr and the great Alice Krige has a bit part as Eir, an Asgardian physician. Taneleer Tivan, the Collector, played by Benicio del Toro, is introduced as is his servant Carina played by Ophelia Lovibond. Royce Pierreson of "The Witcher" appears briefly as a Greenwich student. Lastly, there's a fun cameo by Chris Evans as Captain America.
    TRIVIA:
    1. The Svartalfheim sequences were shot in Iceland to provide a black basaltic soil landscape for the Dark Elves' homeworld.
    2. Jaimie Alexander slipped on some steps on set dislocating a shoulder, tearing a muscle, slipping a disc and chipping eleven vertebrae!
    3. Natalie Portman was unavailable for the end-credit scene so the woman who races to greet Thor is Hemsworth's actual wife, Elsa Pataky!
    EASTER EGGS:
    1. Selvig's diagram for his sanitarium lecture features the numerical designation for the Marvel Comics universe, 616, as well as several dimensional junctures such as The Nexus, The Crossroads and The Fault!
    2. The rock alien Thor fights on Vanaheim is the first appearance of the Kronan species in the saga which also debuted in Thor's first issue, "Journey into Mystery" # 83!
    3. Although in a fluidic state, the Aether is identified as an Infinity Stone making it the third one encountered in the saga!
    CAMEO:
    1. Stan Lee appears as a patient in the sanitarium who asks Selvig to return his shoe after the addled astrophysicist used it as a visual aid for his lecture!
    END-CREDIT SCENES:
    1. Volstagg and Sif deliver the Aether to The Collector for safekeeping in his Collection since the Tesseract is already housed in Odin's vault and two Infinity Stones so near one another is a dangerous prospect. The Collector accepts and, after the Asgardians depart, reveals that there are six in total which he has designs of acquiring!
    2. Jane, in the company of Selvig, Darcy and Ian, is shaken out of her funk when Thor returns and she races to her apartment balcony to greet him with a kiss!
    3. Meanwhile, the Frost Beast from Jotunheim, stranded in London after the Convergence, is seen chasing a flock of birds at the site of the anomaly!
The next chronological stop in the MCU are episodes 8-16 of Season 1 of "Agents of SHIELD".

On the Sif romance question: an odd thing is that she's Thor's actual wife in Norse mythology but very few stories survive from Viking times and one of the only ones with Sif is about her hair being blonde so the only two facts we know about Sif in mythology aren't true in Marvel. I.e. different hair colour, not married to Thor. Although tbf Loki is also not Thor's brother in Norse mythology, nor is he a frost giant so 🤷‍♂️

Loki was forced by Thanos, so he actually didn’t have a reason to be locked away. He was angry because he couldn’t protect his mother. He had every reason to be angry in every situation he was angry in.

Now that you are watching Doctor Who, the bad guy should seem familiar under all that rubber makeup. It’s Christopher Eccleston in probably the most thankless villain role in all of Marvel. He was deeply disappointed in how dumbed down the role was compared to what was pitched to him.

Whenever I do see Thor Odinson or even Steve Rogers known as Captain America throw their shield and mighty hammer, I do think how cool it would be if we were all superheroes like them, Most people don't like this film, But I think Thor was pretty cool with his more badass hammer using action Loki did had his another great moment to be so very ''tricky'' to talk to, Fantastic reaction Emme.

Some folks actually get mad if someone else watched (or, god forbid, likes) a movies they happen to hate. Can you just imagine the ego of these people?... lol... Bravo to you for not taking those radical comments into your choice of movies that you decide to watch. In a film series, even the bad (or less popular) ones are worth seeing at least ONCE. It would be like someone telling you to skip two chapters of a good book just because they didn't agree on that part of the story. :)

Iron Man 3 did not impress a whole lot of people back in the day. I was one of the people who kind of disliked it. I appreciate it much more now. Thor: The Dark World was worse, and Iron Man 3 is still loads better than anything the MCU has done recently.

Hey Emme, love your reactions!!! Phase 2 was real hit or miss for me. This is actually probably my least favorite Marvel movie, and I was fairly neutral on Iron Man 3, but Winter Soldier is probably my favorite Marvel movie, and Guardians is definitely top 5. Glad you're enjoying it, and looking forward to more reactions! I also really can't want for you to get into The Mandalorian. I know you've got a lot on your plate with Rebels and The Bad Batch, but Mandalorian is really some of the best Star Wars ever made.

So in the comics the madder the hulk got the more powerful he got and at one point he is literally one step away from causing earth to break apart, like he take a step and would cause tidal waves destroy some mountains, create new mountain ranges, ECT all from like a tiny step forward basically

this is still a good marvel movie, but in comparasion with the rest of the MCU it is not great. To me because I dont like Iron Man 3 so that movie and Dark World are just hump you have to get over before it gets really good :D
