      @gryffen9608 3 ปีที่แล้ว

A bit late to the party, but if I may, I'll clarify here as I tend to do to a lot of places. The 'super serum' doesn't actually change the human DNA. What it does is what Blue Ronin said, it makes the body the complete pinnacle of what a human body could be. If you've done much research, you'll find the human body is amazing. When pushed to the limits, we can actually hit 30mph. Not for very long, but we can do it. There's been plenty of documented times when someone under great stress has lifted an excess of two tons. That's not including documented vision of being able to read standard print at a kilometer way (George Washington could do that), being able to hear conversations from five hundred meters away, holding your breathe for over seven minutes, as well as our mental faculties.
That's Steve Rogers, Captain America. It's not the powers which make him. What truly sets him apart is he's a good man with good intentions, compassion, and wisdom at all times. He's still mortal, so he makes bad choices too, but he is the antithesis of selfish. A good man given the peak possibilities of what a human body can be is what turns a good man like Steve Rogers into a genuine superhero, ie, "a mortal that can walk amoung the gods."
It's actually really inspiring when you realize what it all stands for.

0:35 - They weren't obsessed with the shield. They were looking for something else and stumbled onto the shield and Cap.
1:34 - Actually that’s a misnomer. The original founding members of the Avengers team (circa 1960’s) was Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, Wasp, and Ant-Man. Cap was created during World War II (as a morale booster & mascot for U.S. military enlistment) and Marvel wanted to bring him into the modern times so they created the “frozen & thawed” story so he could eventually join the team after its creation.
8:36 - Nah don’t feel stupid. HYDRA was a fictional subdivision of the Nazi regime created by Marvel. When they created Cap during World War II, they needed an evil organization (that wasn’t as symbolically horrendous as the Nazi brand) for Cap to fight and so HYDRA was created as a deep science division. Coincidentally HYDRA’s premise wasn’t inaccurate as the Nazis actually conducted innovative scientific research and searched for mystical and religious artifacts (such as the Spear of Destiny) and used tremendous resources in an attempt to gain an advantage during the war.
19:54 & 21:40 - The ice & sheer cold kept Cap in suspended animation (i.e. preserved his youth and appearance) and the Super Soldier Serum kept him alive all those years.
20:35 - He does have a healing factor (not like Wolverine) but he’s not immortal and was in fact killed back in 2007 (long story but he’s alive again). There’s lots of confusion about Cap’s powers so let me clarify - The Super Soldier Serum augments Cap’s physical abilities beyond the finest Olympic athlete but he’s not superhuman. In the original comics (Earth-616 timeline), Cap was able to bench press 550 kg (1100 lbs) unassisted, run a mile in 70 seconds, was immune to Earth-based toxins & germs, had enhanced speed, agility, reaction time, and mental processing. This made him a master tactician and battlefield commander in addition to learning several martial art forms making him among the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel universe.

there is even a fun thing about the healing factor, it is something like this
wolverine healing factor wighout adamantium is the double of the healing factor from hulk.
hulk healing factor is the double of wolverine healing factor with the adamantium.
wolverine healing factor with the adamantium is around 4 times bigger than the healing factor from captain america.
and cap hve something like a healing factor 20 times faster than a normal human being.
      it was something like that...

Cap being so associated with the Avengers many comics fans even don't know or forget that he wasn't a founding member. He's been in most if not all line ups of the Avengers, so he's got more time in the Avengers than any other member.

This movie did a really good job stitching together a lot of Captain America's mythology from the original comic books. The character was originally created during World War II and on the cover of the first issue he was drawn literally punching Adolf Hitler in the face. In the movie the costume he wears when he's selling war bonds is a nod to his original costume in the comics, with the very bright colors and the triangular shield and all. Later the costume he wears when he rescues Bucky's regiment was also taken from the comics, but a much later version. After the World War II, the character kind of faded out and went out of print but then in the early 60's super heroes started getting popular again so they decided to bring the character back and they came up with the idea that he was frozen in ice at the end of the war.
Can't wait to see your reaction to The Avengers!

To answer your question on the conclusion, yes, he "slept" frozen for 70 years, there is a famous silly theory that Walt Disney froze himself to "wake up" sometime in the future. Not sure if that would work in real life but that is the explanation.

It actually doesn't work in real life because the fluid in a human body turns to ice and ruptures the cell walls. If there were some form of drug or serum that would act as an "anti-freeze" and prevent that effect from happening, maybe hibernation or re-vivication would work. But we don't have that.

Caps abilities aren't exactly explained as much as they are shown but hes basically as perfect as a human can possibly be without being superhuman: he cant get sick, is immune to disease, can handle insane amounts of physical stress, heals and regenerates faster than normal, can run at speeds in excess of 30 mph, and has a photographic memory, and is much stronger than a normal man. Hes one of the best and most adaptive fighters in Marvel Comics history, and I think theres a moment in an old comic where he has to take on all the Avengers because they were under some kind of mind control. He took every single Avenger out, was able to escape, evade, or subdue them, and he never made a big deal about it afterward! Hes the best!

The city at the beginning of the movie is the same place Odin fought the Frost Giants at the beginning of Thor 1
The whole movie takes place over 2 years... according to the official MCU handbook
Peggy enlisted under a lie just like Steve did. She is actually younger than she says she is.
Steve is one of the greatest tactical minds of all time. He is capable of commanding multiple battles all at the same time. Not multitasking, but can think of plans on the spot
Peggy ran towards the grenade at the same time as Steve. She had the same intentions as him, but steve just beat her
Steve CAN run faster than those cars because they had a top speed of 132 mph, but it took a while to get to that speed. It would take over 5 minutes for those cars to reach even 60 mph
Steve's body is as perfect as a human body can get. It's the best a human body can get without being superhuman. He's the perfect human
He could reach the submarine because it also had a slow acceleration
All of the HYDRA vehicles were based on real nazi designs
Hydra was a faction of the nazis created by marvel comics as the main villain for Cap to fight
Captain America's shield is made out of Vibranium. Vb absorbs all kinetic and sonic energy. That's why the bullets didn't deflect and go flying everywhere. The shield absorbed all of their kinetic (motion) energy and that's why they fell
All of the HYDRA weapons sound like Iron Man's palm repulsors when they charge up to fire. It's because they are based on the same technology/energy
Those were baton grenades. They work the same way as fragmentation grenades (the one from the beginning of the movie). you pull the pin and throw
The Valkyrie, the Red Skulls plane, is a HYDRA bomber plane powered by the tesseract. Its sole purpose is to be able to fly indefinitely and carry suicide bombers
That something blue is a tesseract power cell. It's the same thing Cap took to Howard and it's the same thing that Arnim Zola and the Red Skull made when they first got the tesseract
Howard Stark had notes of the tesseract in his notebooks in Iron Man 2. At the end of the movie, you see Howard get possession of the tesseract. That's how he has notes on it
He was asleep cause the ice preserved him in suspended animation. He only survived because of the Super Soldier Serum. If he didn't have that, he would have died in the ice

Somewhat unrelated to the movies, but very much related to the 'commanding multiple battles' thing. Back in the day, Marvel and DC were on better terms and had crossover events. In one of them, the Justice League and the Avengers teamed up to battle a multiverse-level threat. Superman went into battle with Captain America's shield in one hand, and Mjolnir in the other, while Martian Manhunter broadcasted the thoughts of the united team's commander to everyone. That commander was Captain America, chosen by both sides as the one best able to lead. One of his quotes: Neural chaff. Hypnotic lights. Pre-programmed skills. Try fighting the Wehrmacht, mister- It teaches you focus!

I would say that in the comics - he's at peak human. But in the MCU - he's over the line - BARELY - into actual superhuman. He's superhuman - but on the low end of the scale. He's able to go toe to toe with, say, Spider-Man and other, far superior foes (on paper) in later films because -
      a) Spider-Man ALWAYS holds back his full strength not wanting to kill anyone, and in this case he ESPECIALLY didn't want to hurt Cap cause he's a big FAN of Captain America
      -and
      b) Captain America might STILL win in an all-out because of superior training, skill, and creativity. He goes toe to toe with a Super Robot that clearly outclasses him in another future film and while he would never be able to BEAT that robot - he does what he set out to do and kept him distracted and engaged in the fight.
      c) "I could do this all day" Steve NEVER gives up. EVER.

I read a lot of comic books growing up, Capt. America was always my favorite. He was always so righteous, putting his life on the line for others, frequently he was the leader of the Avengers.
His origin story is pretty close to the comic book version, except that he's found frozen in the ice by the newly formed Avengers which were Iron Man, Thor, Ant-Man and the Wasp. They were hunting for the Hulk who was on a rampage. In the book Bucky was on that plane too but dropped off, instead of being on a train.
He's the 1st Avenger because he was in comic books 2 decades before Iron Man, Thor and the other Marvel characters. It was him, the Human Torch (an android) and Sub-Mariner (the Marvel version of Aquaman). There were others that are long forgotten now.

He was frozen in the ice, like cryostasis. The freezing preserved his body and the super soldier serum made him able to survive the freezing, so they were able to revive him after they found him. As I recall, the metric for the original super soldier serum (Captain America and Red Skulls abilities) is that it makes you double the human maximum. What's the fastest a human can run? Captain America can run twice as fast. What's the most a human can possibly lift? Captain America can lift twice that much. It also grants essentially unlimited endurance and slows the ageing process. So he'd be older, but not actually old, if he hadn't been frozen. The original serum also has physical side effects. It deformed Red Skulls face and made Steve Rogers double in bulk.

Btw there was a popular theory half a century ago, that you could FREEZE a person just before death. Then when the technology was developed in the future to revive you, you could live again. In reality, freezing causes the liquid in your body to crystalize and break the cells in your body. But Steve's body is tougher than normal. And he can survive this.

  • @3Rayfire

Super Soldier Serum enabled Cryostasis. Extreme cold can genuinely reduce a person's physical and metabolic processes to a crawl, one heart beat per minute go for years without food, there are animals in nature that actually freeze over (an Arctic Moth I believe comes to mind). It's like hibernating in a freezer. Part of the reason we can't freeze people and defrost people is that when someone is frozen, ice crystals form in their soft tissues, rupturing their cells, kinda like freezer burn. The Super Soldier Serum on the other hand has regenerative properties at the cellular level. So Cap's Super Soldier Serum allowed him to be frozen and defrosted without killing him.

The super soldier serum enhanced Steve Rogers in every way from physical strength, speed and agility to cellular resilience and fortitude, which is how he survived cryogenic freezing for seventy years. It is sad about the lost time, the life (and love) he left behind. But that's just how dedicated Captain Rogers is, willing to lay down his life if need be for others.

    A little Captain America history:
The Super Soldier Serum is essentially a hyper-accelerated steroid that stabilizes with Vita-Ray radiation. Since his metabolism is accelerated his body is always healing and counteracting any damage to his body whether from too much fat, sugar, alcohol, narcotics, illness, environment, etc. So he heals quicker than normal humans when injured, is more resilient to physical activity as well as illness, and has increased mental acuity. The serum changes the body on a cellular level and is in a constant state of homeostasis so after the crash, his body while frozen was also in a constant state of repair, so he was in suspended animation until he was thawed out.
The Super Soldier Serum alters the subject's body to peak human potential, and so all reflexes, senses, reactions, strength, and thought are increased to just shy of superhuman.

Stan Lee didn't create Captain America but he was responsible for bringing him back to the comics in 1965 after a long absence, by writing the story that he stayed frozen after WW2. Also, Stan Lee invented the idea of Vibranium as the metal of which Captain America's shield is made. In the old comics, the shield is made of just regular steel.
