  • RCDriver.com staff member Mark has been in RC for a very long time and has been giving us a great inside look at converting a budget friendly Team Associated Apex TC kit to a drift car. In this video Mark goes into 3D Printing, a new hobby he has recently picked up. Mark give you an idea of how easy it is to get into 3D printing, the machine and design software he uses and shows you a few parts he’s designed and printed for the Project Altered Apex Drift Build.

    very Cool. I know at some point I'll be in the market for a 3D printer. Have you felt restricted with the Select Mini print size of 120x120x120mm or are you pretty much able to print any part you're needing in that sized box?

    I'm new at it and just ordered the ender 3 v2 and can't wait to start 3d printing rc stuff. I can't afford the nice rc stuff so I'll learn to make it all myself.

    I admit I've been denouncing these machines since they started becoming more common place, but I may end up getting one eventually. For as cheap as they've gotten it sure is worth a try to see how they could help in my fabrication work.

      Great idea Maarten, next time I have to design something I will walk everyone through from CAD to the print bed. Unfortunately it will Have to wait until the next project, but that will be sooner than later.

    • @markronge5474
      @markronge5474 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I you have no experience with CAD, I recommend Tinkercad, it is a web based software that you can make super simple parts. If you have experience with CAD (or are willing to learn), check out Fusion 360 it is free and they have free online classes you can attend to get up to speed.

    3D printing is great and getting the printer is the easy part but what software to use for noobs? Did you design all that or just get it all off shapeways? The reason why it isn't as popular is because of the learning curve I think?

    • @markronge5474
      @markronge5474 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mobgma thanks for the support, I think you hit the nail on some parts. Now for this project I designed everything BUT the seats I pulled online. I design all my parts with Fusion 360 which is a free CAD software that is easier to use than the rest.
      There are even easier solutions than Fusion360, Tinkercad is basically an online plugin to make basic designs and can be used to make RC parts and anyone can use this software. So check out Tinkercad I would say!
