This also works with a RT50 series fridge, with the caveat that there is no LCD display.
Pressing "power cool" + "freezer setting" for several seconds seems to trigger some kind of test mode. From there short presses of "power cool" can start a "force defrost" mode and a "force operation" mode (keep pressing until you get the right mode). Both emit a series of short and long beeps at the beginning and then repeatedly beep during the whole forced thing. "force operation" can be easily identified because it produces a "fridge purr noise". "force defrost" mode is silent except for the beeps. It heats some element at the bottom behind the back panel in the freezer part, where the defrost ice typically accumulates.
In my case, there was a massive amount of ice (~1kg, I believe). It took several hours to get it to melt using a combination of "forced defrost" and repeatedly pouring scalding hot water on the ice directly (that I then sucked out with a straw once it got cold).
