You are a lifesaver! I inherited this refrigerator when i bought my house and it has been an issue since day 1. Apparently they recommend changing out an overflow or feeder tube as it is too short and causes some of these problems. I agree with others, I've had to do 3 cycles to get all the buildup off. Can not thank you enough for this information and video!
Thank you. My fridge is a newer model, so I had to really search to find the Fridge Manager, but after finding it, all of your steps worked just fine. I let it defrost for a bit and then went in with a screw driver, broke all of the frozend ice off and cleaned out the system manually. Then I turned the Test Mode off and the Ice Maker on. All is good now. Thanks again.
this process is needed, but 30 mins won't do it for a deeply frozen ice maker. It took me around 3 hours of doing this (retriggering the defrost every 20 mins or so) to get the tray to come loose. Then another couple hours with a hairdryer melting the solid block of ice encasing the entire ice maker. After that I reassembled and overnight the ice maker came back to life and produced ice correctly. It had been frozen shut for 6 moths prior and previous attempts of 30 minute did not get the tray loose.
I just had to share your video with couple people spending hours defrosong ice maker taking them apart to using tossed salad metal fork to a chisel me I burned a hole thru some of plastic below ice maker lucky for me dosent. Cause any problems I wish I seen your video before doing that than you 😊
If your ice maker is really blocked up with ice you have to run these steps MANY times until all the ice is gone. I have to go through the steps at least 10 times. Keep the chiming sound on so you can hear when it stops defrosting and then go force it to do it again until all the ice is clear. So, basically, make sure you have a few hours to spend near your fridge and get used to the sound!! You will want to know when it stops the process and it needs to be run again so you have to listen for it. Oh and #samsungsucks !!!!!!!!

This doesn't work anymore some the most recent Family Hub software update. Is there a new method to do this?

May i know the difference between defrost fd/rd?
On some Samsung refrigerator models, FD stands for freezer defrost, and RD stands for refrigerator defrost.
@@JuanCamacho21 stupid question, but if I run the defrost do I need to remove all the food? or does it still maintain the set temprature?
@@darkmatter_blitzkrieg You can leave your food in it. The defrost is only for the freezer portion.
@JuanCamacho21 do I have to remove any water or anything after or during defrost?
Hi what if you refrigerator do not make the chime sound. Do that mean it’s not defrosting
Important to note that you want FD and not fd defrost mode? I think the FD mode was used here. Not sure what the difference is
Can you force defrost with food in it
This didn’t work for my ice machine please help 👍🏼
Hello, it says no connection under Engineer Mode when I press Force Run

I followed you step by step and my ice maker chute is still a block of ice. 😞 Thanks anyway.
