- The Pilot is Honda's midsize SUV. On the outside of the Touring trim you will discover chrome trim, bronze 20in wheels, raised roof rails and side skirt extensions. On the inside you will be greeted by a leather interior and 9in infotainment screen. Under the hood is a 3.5L V6 that is mated to a 10-speed automatic. Is the 2024 Honda Pilot a BETTER midsize 3-row SUV than a Kia Telluride?

This is the first Pilot I like visually. Quality has always been there but now it looks great too.
This is so very true.
Agree
Yeah they designed the Pilot and CRV well
I have a 2015 Pilot. Other than normal maintenance, and a timing belt at 100k ($930), Ive had zero issues.
930 is lots of cash, I have same 2015 Sportage 122k miles and just brakes and oil changes
They should really switch to chains like everyone else
funny my coworker spent 7 grand fixing his engine on his 2014 honda pilot. I guess it got better after 2015?
@@papaagidi2838Timing belt is made by rubber, they meant to be replace at higher mileage, just like tires, nothing special.
@@kenyaswallow5782 I've had my 2004 Pilot for almost 20 years and over 200K miles. The only repairs I've had to make were 2 window motors, fuel pump relay, turn signal relay and the idle-air control valve. All of which I was able to do myself. The engine is still flawless. No oil burn whatsoever.
"A little gloss black. But you’re not gonna be touching that area unless there’s something wrong with you…" LOL, this made me giggle more than I would like to admit.
Thanks for letting me share the laughs and the SUVs with you
Wheels work really well with this color. I agree with you, the arches need to be painted. Honda hit a home run with this.
Thanks for sharing that great insight David!
It’s a midsize suv not a sports car, these wheels on a family grocery carrier is like black rims on a minivan, just looks like something it isn’t
@@mintchevvv1834ladies and gentlemen, we found the Chevy fanboy.
Lets hope for 2025 they update that infotainment system to the size its supposed to be for a large SUV. 😬
Agreed, what a joke from Honda 9 inch for all those coins........
Honestly one big thing keeping this from being an easy decision. A few more bells and whistles and I’m not looking at other suvs
That’s my biggest complaint. I wouldn’t even think about purchasing this SUV until they update that tiny little screen.
yes. like the higher trim accord
I bought a 2023 Pilot Elite (same color as the one in the video, but with brown interior) back in April right when they first came out, so I've been driving one about 10 months now. I was a little put off that Honda didn't put a bigger screen in it when I was doing research on the vehicle. But honestly, the screen size hasn't been an issue at all. I use it with Google Maps via wireless Android Auto all the time, often with the screen split to show whatever music I'm playing, and can still see everything perfectly fine. I'll take a smaller screen with Honda reliability any day over a Kia with a bigger screen and reliability issues (then having to fight the dealer to get catastrophic engine failures covered...).
I watched your c43amg video like 10 times before deciding to purchase it. You’re excellent at what u do and u cover every single aspect and give us the good and the bad.
That means the world! Thank you for saying that!
@@RaitisRideskeep informing people please we all need to hear good and bad things honesty is very rare nowadays
Amazing review Joe.
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video 👍
I really appreciate you saying that my friend.
We have a 24 Pilot Touring and it’s a big upgrade to our prior 21 model in a lot of ways. Namely the seats are WAY more comfortable. A couple extra inches in length make a nice difference in cabin room, better engine and transmission, more rugged styling, and slick 2nd row removable/stowable middle seat for nice pass through to the 3rd row. Oh and the panoramic sunroof is nice.
Another one ! 👍
Honda did a nice job with this…..I like the wheels
Copper wheels looks pretty cool but I think I'd go with the black HPD package myself. And yes, it be cool to see the bronze fender bender
Great review Joe. The Honda Odyssey Minivan is due for a full redesign.
This is so very true.
is it gas direct injection or port injection?
Wheels work really well, they look awesome. 👍
I am so glad that you think so.
looks like the exhaust on the left side is also functional 9.03
I noticed that, too at 9:03
Looks like 2010 Years Car..... inside and outside... whats going on honda?
I have 2023 Pilot Elite with chocolate colored seat interior. I absolutely love this car. I have the same color on this video. I may just go purchase those bronze wheels as they make the pilot look awesome. Driving it is comfortable and the 3rd row is more spacious than the Telluride. I think I the removable 2nd row middle seat was clever.
That is so fantastic! Thanks for sharing that great ownership info.
That's what I buying soon Modern Steel Metallic with Brown interior or Platinum White Pearl with Brown interior Elite
Great review Joe on an excellent choice in the mid-size SUV segment. The bronze wheels aren’t really doing it for me on this vehicle but that’s a subjective issue and not a fault of course.
Thanks for letting me sharing it with you!
At 9:02 when you started the Pilot, liquid came out of the exhaust at the back - what is that? Just condensation or something else? I've always wondered.
I love the Honda vehicles... have had a CRV since 2010 and it is still going strong and relatively inexpensive to maintain so far aside from the usual things due to regular use.
Absolutely need to have not only the heated seats, but also the cooled seats for the summer as well. Would happily get a Pilot if I were in the market, but I keep hoping a Hybrid model will come out one of these years.
its florida..we swim in humidity.
It is chemistry… gasoline (CH) and oxygen (O2) react to form carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). Most of the water is gaseous vapor, but it can condense into liquid by the time it reaches the tailpipe.
The air conditioning system expels some water it’s from that
Gret review as always! Curious if things are ok at home? Lots of cream busting talk the last couple of reviews🤣🤣
LOL You freaking crack me up!
That model looks sick!!
In North America we are having an issue with the push button start even with newer models. I took my 2021 honda passport for my car stopped on traffic lights and wouldn't start so I took the vehicle to dealership and told me nothing wrong with the vehicle just turn off the idea stop so I did as they said it happened again , they told me there is no recall but they had an internal bulletin about this issue in February 2023 and June 2023. They have to replace the starter motor.
Hey there Joe, so I'm watching all the old Pilot videos... Not sure if I just missed it but I don't think you've made a video for the new black edition.... Can't wait for your video on the black edition!! 🤩
I will get my hands on of for you!
Can’t wait!!😊
First, this fellow does the BEST reviews. I’ve had a 2023 Pilot Elite for 7 months. Glad it’s a naturally aspirated 6 (more than enough power). The seats are comfortable. The ride is smooth and quiet. The infotainment screen is large enough for me. The storage, both for small and large stuff, is great. Sure like the huge storage area under the back “cover”. I think any one of the four leaders in this segment (Honda, Toyota, Kia and Hyundai) is great. Just a matter of personal taste.
That screen is way too small. Deal breaker for a lot of ppl.
Agreed. I have a 23 Civic Si with this exact same dashboard setup. I, too, prefer the smaller screen and I absolutely love the true rotary dials and knobs for controlling HVAC, vs the giant tablets they use in say the Subaru WRX. Very easy to adjust while driving with little distraction.
@@Amir-ie2yz How important is that though? More important than things like ride, cargo space, noise levels, seat comfort, price, relibility, etc? For me its probably the 15th most important thing on the list.
I love the Pilot, only downsides are small gas tank & no hybrid option. I need MORE driving range. At least 500+ miles
You can get about 500 out of it, have to put it in eco mode though. I wish they didn’t downsize the tank, an extra gallon or two would be welcome
Yes it’s very strange there is no hybrid option. Most likely will come out soon. I would be surprised if they don’t introduce one
Yes, definitely needs a bigger fuel tank.
If it were not a V6 but a 4-inline, maybe would've lasted even 600+ miles with the same gas tank capacity, but as it is an naturally aspirated so, i find it a plus. Less clutter, less prone to damage the turbines, etc. And the design looks so luxurious though it's based on simple modern lines, which I love.
@@theholt2ic219 Their Civic didn't have a hybrid option, but they're coming out with a Civic Hybrid in 2025. I would expect once Toyota comes out with the hybrid 4Runner, it will force Honda to bring one out for a 2026 refresh, pushing the prices up thanks to Toyota's higher prices.
How does the drivers seat compare to the CRV driver seat? Having worked on a new CRV recently I was cushioned very well in it so I was wondering if the pilots drivers seat is just as comfortable if not more so?
It is like the CR-V Kevin,.

Thank you Steven
Bruh...wheel locks have stopped just about zero thieves that know what they are doing.
All you need is a $10 Harbor Freight tool to get them off. I worked in a tire shop all throughout college, and we had to have one for all the people that lost their lugnut "key"...super simple and easy.
That's why I always laugh when a dealer wants to charge $200+ dollars for them.
There is a manufacturer that makes a true anti theft lock nut. It is designed and engineered to fill out the entire lug nut hole in the wheel and as a result no tool can get around it, plus it has a rounded head or a pointed head like a cone shape so no vice grip can lock onto it.
If i remember correctly it was demonstrated on by third party individuals who attempted to break them off and they couldn’t because of its design.
I forget the manufacturer name but they are in the states and designed and engineered in the US. So at least that’s better than most lock nuts.
Thanks for your feelings on this one.
I'm confused. at 7:28 you say the driver's side exhaust is fake yet at 9:02 you see smoke coming out of both sides. Explain.
You say the left side exhaust is non-functional, yet when you started it up, smoke and water comes out that side. Both sides are functional. I traded in my 2023 Kia Telluride EX for a 2024 Honda Pilot Elite. Just too many quirky things with the Kia that I didn't like compared to the Pilot. I think the driver interface on the Pilot is more intuitive than the Kia. Features-wise, if you compare the top trim levels on both, they are pretty close to the same. I should also mention that reliability was also a concern. I had 3 recalls on my Kia in the first 6 months of ownership, and the rear passenger door would not open from inside due to linkage that was not connected in the factory. How did it pass QC that way?
Did you get it wrong Raiti, you said the Pilot has only one sided exhaust pipe, but when you guys were reving the engine it appeard to blow out of both sides albeit more on one side😮
Can't wait to see you do the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid!
I'd wish they focus on the steering wheel, a little more bigger perhaps a little thicker. Idk 🤷♂️ I think it would make it seem more luxurious. Yayyy??? Or nayyyy? Over all i like the new pilot it looks good it looks way different. Well I like it so I think I will trade in my 21 pilot for this and this combination and wheels are spot on. As much as i wanted a truck, they are too expensive so I have been priced out of a new truck let alone an used one with high miles. Thanks for the reviews dude I love your channel. Keep the vids coming.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this one.
Bigger steering wheels belong on trucks. Smaller is sporty and nimble.
this or 2025 acura mdx or lexus tx h500 fsport for family that needs occasional 6 seating?
Im surprised you didn't zonk the rear turn signals. As someone who works at the plant that makes these, the rear turn signals not being led annoys me
That is a great point. I can't believe that I missed that one.
so as a worker in the factory..what do you think about the quality of production on these?
The new Honda Pilot is so nice!!
I like the wheel rims
Making a big decision here (lol) as my 2019 Explorer got totalled. NOW will i take 2024 Pathfinder or 2024 Honda pilot? Needs the cons on each based on your experience. Thank you very much.
I am sorry to hear about the issue that you had. I actually really like the Pathfinder over the passport.
No cooled seats on a $50 machine?? Can you get the on the limited?
The Elite trim has ventilated seats and 360 Muliti View Camera System. The 2025 soon to be released has a USA Black Edition trim added. It's the Elite trim in a few colors with Black package trim wheels but Black Red seats

Will do!
is it the varying cylinder like odyssey?
Yes unfortunately. I got a defeat device for mine, took 10 mins to install
Not really, pickup trucks sold after 1986 weren't required to have the third brake light.... Just FYI
I decide to buy this based on your review
That is so fantastic to hear!
The front is a little too confused. You have chrome, satin chrome, gloss black, satin black, painted metal/plastic.
I have that one
My biggest zonk on the new pilots is the infotainment screen size. It’s Honda’s biggest vehicle and it’s only 9 inches. Should’ve been 12+ inches
You can always Velcro a Laptop to your dash . . .
That’s true too lol
I am right there with you!
LOL Perfect
@@RaitisRides - Joe, I've Subbed after watching just a few of your reviews. After my 2006 Cadillac STS V8 was T-Boned by a drunk last summer, I've been looking for a replacement. Looks like I found one, an older CTSV, in Miami. As an aside, is Raitis Finnish?
You didn't show us the spare tire?? 😮😮
For the most part I like this Pilot! However I’m seeing quite a few of this new model on the used car lot…which means owner satisfaction is missing something somewhere if folks are trading out of them only after a year.
I think you meant 262tq.
yes fender should have body color instead of flat black. One functional exhausts is plain lazy and being cheap if you ask me. Love the bronze wheels. Definitely should have all digital display and a head up display. Honda does make great steering wheels. Ford should take notes.
wish he would’ve explained what the button at 17:05 next to the 12v does… just glances right over it lol 😆
That’s to turn on the walk away feature. Tailgate will close when you walk away
Sometimes it is hard to nail everything everytime.
Where Honda's shine is quality and attention to detail on the chassis and body/interior (more than Toyota). They do their best to make sure even parts you don't see don't rust. I just wish they would remove the cylinder deactivation of their V6's for meeting emissions. That ruined V6 engines that would otherwise be bulletproof. In that case you're better off with a Toyota with a hybrid non-turbo 4 cylinder. Please Honda, get rid of the V6 cylinder deactivation.
The small screen was a deal breaker for me, it's not the end of the world but I would probably own it for 8yrs and it would bug me everyday.
You do know you're supposed to be watching the road, instruments, mirrors, and not a screen when driving, right? Or am I that much of an old fart driving my 2004 Seville with no screens?
@@captainamerica9353 I’m a old fart too (61) kind of. I use my screen a lot but never driving except navigation. A large screen makes things easier to read.
It’s a no go for me as well, not necessarily the size, but I hate when screens stick out like that. It almost seems like a lazy design choice.
I wish I could get one without a screen. . .
@@Mcroberg Exactly, so much better looking in my Telluride
Honda Pilot is GREAT, but those wheels are ghetto fabulous and I wouldn't drive that to a swap meet.
Thanks Todd for your honest opinion on this one.
Agree. Such a strange option for this soccer mom SUV. Whoever designs the wheels for Honda needs to be fired. Bring in whoever designs the wheels for BMW's.
They should have this engine option on the accord!
This seems nice but if I was in the market for a family SUV, I'd really consider the Mazda CX-90
I like the way that you think Bruce!
I just had my Hyundai Elantra engine rod break at 153,000 miles. Im not worried about the nick nacks on the pilot, just the vehicles reliability. Ill potentially be purchasing a Pilot
I will wait for a larger infontaiment screen and all led lights at the back for the upgrade like the Accord. But a full fun of Honda products.
Sounds like a plan Andrew.
Love Ratti, all the way down to china town.
Thanks for that saying that! I really appreciate it!
nice
I’m glad you approve
It's a 3.5 V6 not a 3.8 liter Joe!
You trying to say the engine is bigger than it really is to squeeze another box of twinkies in there with the extra room???!!😅😅Great job man, love your reviews.
Thanks for the intel
Good job guys
Thanks Aaron!
I agree, at 50k Honda should step up their game. After five new Honda pilots and a Ridgeline, in 21 I bought a Highlander Limited. Limited Highlander vs Touring Pilot. Toyota has forward camera, heated and ventilated seats, third row privacy screen included as well as 12 inch infotainment screen. Now in 2024, I give Honda the nod for not going four cylinder turbo, but Toyota Hybrid with its E tranny will be our next suv.
Thanks Mark for sharing your thoughts on this one.
This segment is getting really hot, would have hoped Honda would bringing more things on the table though. It is like every brand have their own big problem:
KIA/Hyundai - Everything including the warranty period is great except you can't find inventory and every dealer around me is asking 4-8K above MSRP.
Toyota - Grand Highlander is great, but inventory is lacking, and some around just went straight to TX.
Mazda - Good car, but internal space is the same as highlander which is a smaller car! People usually buy this segment for space more than performance.
Ford - Wish they can at least try to bring the Europe spec explorer for test since that one is full EV and shall be a better buy than Model Y.
GM - Everything is nice on paper and problem is that is problem - no production vehicles out yet. Other sources did mention GM is really generous on their standard equipment.
VW - Minor tech system issues that will just annoy you and not sure the price on maintenance upkeep since it is a German car.
Alost everyone misses the hybrid option except Toyota, then again - after Nissan and Ford pulled their hybrid option out from production vehicles then I have my doubt on other brand's hybrid setup.
Very good points!
Lmao those movie candy choices were diabolical 😂
I'd take the Pilot. More functional interior with the removable middle seat and that giant underfloor storage area is really useful. It'll also drive better. The gold wheels on that tester are really stupid though. I think its really silly that people get so focused on screen size. Ride, handling, safety, braking, MPG, engine smoothness, reliability, noise levels, seat comfort, cargo space, etc are all much more important.
was looking at the MDX but this looks nice
Nothing beats the telluride ! Entertainment, comfort ,technology ,look 🔥
That is what some would say.
ever sat in the driver's seat of a pilot?
Several other reviews dispute you.
The AWD Pilot has better Body Control over Telluride and Palisade.
I notice you don't mention how it drives.
no way the Telluride stands a chance against the Pilot in the AWD tests
I’m sorry for the price of the touring I can get a fully loaded pathfinder or palisade or Telluride the Honda pilot is nice but not worth but the elite is not worth no 54k
nissan and kia ain't no honda bro
sit in the driver's seat of each and then tell me you can't feel the difference
Other reviews say AWD Pilot have better body control than Tuluride Palisade they are more couch like.
You get what you pay for. Nissan and Kia are absolute junk. Enjoy the loaner you'll be driving in between major repairs.
I love your video … What car you recommend me Honda Pilot or Kia Telluride.. am confuse both comes around same price so please help me .. thank u for your time
I would go with the reliable Honda.
No spare tire?
Doughnut Spare underneath.
TrailSport trim gets Full-Size spare but only gives 2 Row Captains Seats with armrests. Elite and some other trims have removable 2nd Row center seat. It doubles as armrests with cup holders.
Surprised no large screen but I’m sure they will add it in the 2025 refresh and get people to trade in their pilot for the refresh. And the pilot needs to be standard AWD and they have to come out with a hybrid version. I’m surprised there is not hybrid offered. Other than that very conservative car that will outlast the KIA no doubt. Others may have some advantages but they won’t outlast a Honda NA V6. Only the Grand Highlander can compete in engine quality.
I think you may be right about that!
The chrome is the front needs to go they look like parts you stick on they should’ve made it like the gloss black pilot letters at the back
Here is thing with Honda. The sexiest Pilot should have better inline 6 - turbo, 8-speed transmission four wheel-drive, that’s a total knockout all competitors without debating. I liked the 2024 Pilot redesigned exterior, aggressiveness with muscular styling. Mazda CX90 did the first initial market testing on how consumers would or would not agreed with inline 6 turbo.
Then what would be the point of the MDX? Honda has premium vehicles if one wants them.
@@majed6956 MDX is about luxury, not off road, towing, performance. The Pilot should be inline engine with turbocharger.
Telluride! Specially with next generation coming soon and possibly being a more direct competition to the CX-90 and Grand Highlander
I have a 2007 Honda pilot…no issues but look of this one is nicer
11:17 - That infotainment screen is a MASSIVE fail!!
Yeah that is the weak link in the chain.

This exhaust thing real VS fake.....I bought a Subaru Ascent over a VW Atlas. Neither side is real on the volkswagen. Both sides are real on the Subaru.HP are virtually the same within 3 if I remember correctly. We got the touring model with everything they have to offer. The Atlas was within the same money.
Scotty Kilmer - "Honda make the best engines. Toyota makes the best vehicles."
For 50K the rear wiper needs to be tucked and need struts instead of the poprod.. Double Zonk.
2024 Honda Pilot Touring FWD HPD Bronze Package!
I think the palisade and Ascent have a nudge over this one.
I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on this one.
Great video, but. . . you tease the subscriber to believe that you'd answer the question. . . which is the better mid-size 3-row SUV. Unless I missed something, you didn't answer the question, but, instead, asked the viewer to add their opinions to the comments section. I'm interested, what is YOUR opinion between the two?
I drove both. The Kia is loaded with technology that may or may not last in the long-term. The SUV will be for my wife and the interface isn't all that intuitive on the Telluride. It's more of a distraction. The buttons, etc. look and feel cheap in the Telluride. If you turn your cars over like some people do with the latest Nike shoes, then get yourself a Kia. It's got a lot of shiny objects.
The Pilot, IMO, is the better value. Plus, Honda dealers are starting to deal. We're considering closing a deal today on an EX-L AWD for thousands below MSRP. That ain't going to happen w/a Telluride. We'll likely keep this SUV 10 or more yrs with my wife racking up only about 6k miles per year. Reliability with the Honda is > than Kia, IMO, and my experience. We've owned Honda and Hyundai, (same manufacturer as Kia), and the Honda wins in that department hands down.
Time to get the new Pilot after driving my 2004 Pilot for almost 20 years and 205,000 miles.
Oh wow that is fantastic!
It looked like exhaust coming out of the left nonfunctional side. I think in 5 years the Honda would age well. I would be tired of the Telluride way before then. I hate to disagree with you Joe but I don't care for the copper wheels. That's all you see are those wheels.
Copper wheels are very tacky. HUGE eyesore
Alright Joe let’s see how many Twinkies can we fit in this Honda Pilot

I just upgraded from the 2022 Honda Pilot Special Edition to the 2024 Honda Pilot Touring. I AM LOVING IT!!!! It handles SO much smoother, the turning radius is smaller, and it feels MUCH more stable. I love it. The ONLY thing that would have made it better is a hybrid version. I really hope that it will be soon and that we can keep the 6 cylinder engine. 4 cylinders, even made turbo charged, would not be enough power, IMO. I am loving my new vehicle.
I have a passport which is similar to the last pilot, but you’re right it’s crazy how much nicer the new ones drive
Wheels look nice
I don't like the rear wiper that is tucked under the rear spoiler it doesnt look right, doesnt matter if there a fake bumper hardware, doesnt matter if the exhaust tips are real or fake, lot of vehicle manufacturers are not providing spare tires witch is horrible
It has a doughnut spare tire underneath. If you get the Pilot TrailSport trim it has Full-Size Spare Tire. But you have to give up 2nd Row removable center seat for Captains Chair seats. Weight I think.
No armrest in the second row is a definite ZONK!
They should offer a plug in hybrid and hybrid on those pilots
I love Honda's. I own 2013 Pilot and I love it
This new 2024 Pilot love the aggressive look. I wish they update and make the infotainment system more modern and screen more bigger
Wheels should be black. Leave the trim matte plastic. I can't believe those wheels actually look small on that car being 20in.
You can get the wheels in black,
362 lb ft of torque or did he mean 262
You are correct! Sorry about that.
With that 2010 infotainment screen 😆
Joe as you mentioned Hondas are in a league of their own. Cant compare a Honda with a kia.
Every car is white, black, gray/silver, or maybe red.
I'm in the market for a new suv and the Pilot makes me sad. They really need to update the infotainment system. No cooling seats? & the rear wiper. 😢 I guess they want people to buy an Acura.
That's a no on the bronzyish wheels, for me.
