      I just watched your 2 week review of the 2024 Honda Pilot Elite. Was a little surprised with the 55.4 Dba on the test ride in KY. Noticed that the shade for the Panoramic Sunroof was open at the time. I also notice a much quieter ride in my SUV when that shade is closed. Might be worth a retest?
      Best overall vehicle test video I’ve seen. I just bought a 2025 Honda Pilot Elite. The 2024 and 2025 appear to be identical in every respect. Best SUV I’ve ever owned.
      Thanks for the great video.

    What about the in-cabin decibels at 70+ MPH? 55 MPH is ok, but most vehicles are relatively quiet at surface street speeds. Where the problem comes in is how loud are they at interstate speeds, where you are likely to spend longer times exposed to the noise on road trips. Would be super helpful if you could provide those decibel levels.

    Out of all the vehicles I test drove, the Honda Pilot Trailsport got my heart immediately. I was ultimately between this and the 4Runner and decided to settle for the Pilot instead because the 4Runner was too slow and outdated for me (its infotainment screen kept lagging).
    The Pilot sits high up with A LOT of visibility, drives so lightly/smoothly, is spacious with the usability of a minivan, and has a naturally aspirated V6. It went over cracks and gravel on the road like nothing.
    Not to mention the high resale value with 55% after 5 years. Honda really knows how to tune their I-VRTM transmission because the drive train was incredible.

    • @ryanb8736
      @ryanb8736 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      4Runner is only good for off-roading. Daily driver a Pilot is so much better. Plus AWD is much better than 4WD.
      On the highway in blizzards, you should not keep a 4WD locked on for long periods of time. It’s not good for system. You need to keep it in 2WD. Lots of people complain about it.
      AWD, you just drive it through all tough conditions with ease and no drawbacks.
      Plus frame vehicles are not as sturdy. They also rust a lot more areas. Unibody is more rigid and won’t rust as bad. No frames to rust.

    • @lane5686
      @lane5686 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@ryanb8736 Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree with all of this. The reason why the Honda Pilot was so good for me was the daily driving factor. The 4Runner is legendary but I don't even off-road; even if I do, I will bring the 4Runner to the shop regularly regardless if it's "built for off-roading".

    I kind of look at the Honda Pilot (and all Hondas) like iPhones. They generally evolve very slowly. Sometime they will leap ahead of everyone else, put then again they will lag behind in certain features until they are sure they have the best version of it.
    But like iPhones, they are very reliable and hold their value better than anyone else. As an example my 2020 Pilot EXL leased ended a couple of months ago. The buyout was about $21,000 (I put ZERO down on my lease at the time I got it and the dealer took off $5,000 - so the lease price was $38,500). I had only 32K miles on it. When I did the buyout load at my credit union they valued it $34,000! $13,000 over what my purchase price was and only $4,500 below what I leased it for 39 months later!
    I doubt any very few other makes could hold their value like that!

    • @FunAtDisney
      @FunAtDisney หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@DGG-ob5by I have always had iPhones, but I think now days I would say they are no more premium than the top-end Samsung and Google Pixal phones, price-wise at least (they are all expensive!) But I do get your point. I really meant that they both (Honda and Apple devices) are very reliable and keep their value better than other makes. And that they are similar in that they are slower to evolve, put then when the do bring in new features they are often better thought-out. Look how long it took Apple to bring something more than just a 12mp camera to the iPhone, but when they did - Wow! It is the only phone that is often used in actual movie productions for pick-up shots or even short features. I just would like to see Honda bring in a better infotainment system and larger screens because dollar-for-dollar they are losing to every other make right now.

    I just purchased the 2024 Honda Pilot Elite. My former car was a 2009 Honda Pilot EXL. It's been a solid vehicle for many years and have had no regrets. I am tired of finding vehicles with turbos with 4 cylinders. I know those will be costly to work on in the future. Honda has had a solid reliable motor with their V6 ICE engine. It's just solid and was glad they still had it available. Much cheaper to work on folks. The room in this SUV is so impressive. I love all the storage areas that can't be beat by others out there IMO. I'm going to be using this for work and need all those nifty spots to put my work goodies into. @Mcortese18 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    Did you experience any of these issues during your time with the Pilot?
    We just bought a 2024 Pilot and are very disappointed. The cabin climate system can’t keep up in the cold weather. The heated air on max only gets lukewarm and the lake area of the cabin stays cold no matter how high the heat is. We took it into the service center, and the head mechanic came out and felt the air and immediately looked at me and said yeah that’s very cool. When they tested it though, he said it was within range, and there was nothing else they could do.
    The heated seats barely function. You have to keep them on for 20 minutes on full blast to even feel anything. If you have them on any setting below full blast, you can’t feel anything.
    The average gas mileage is 17.1, and that’s with more than half of our 800 miles being driven on the highway.
    The phone charger doesn’t actually charge the phone. It will keep the phone from losing charge, but it does not gain charge. In addition to that, it makes the phone very hot and because of that you can’t leave it on for long periods of time.
    Add to that the electronic issues we’re having with it. The door locks don’t always open with the key fob, the lift-gate doesn’t always open, and the remote start doesn’t work about 30% of the time. We provided videos to the dealer and they won’t even return our calls. Thanks AutoNation.
    This car is definitely not worth anything near the price, and it’s very disappointing that Honda is just shrugging their shoulders at all of it.

    In regards to the "Acceleration Test".... I just bought a 2024 Pilot EX-L AWD. When I try to accelerate, I get a hesitated acceleration. I even turned off the "Auto Stop" but yet I am still experiencing a delayed acceleration. Anyone else here? Dealer states they can not "duplicate it:" Does the "ELITE" model have a different engine?
    Thanks

    Honda, please put the Pilot interior into the Ridgeline (including the 10.25" gauge cluster, heads up display, and passenger shelf to name a few things). I would also like to see the slightly larger V6 and 10-speed transmission in the Ridgeline as well. On second thought, Honda should make a new Ridgeline model based on the Pilot instead of the Passport. They can call it the Ridgeline Elite. 😊

      The 3.6 liter V6 from GM has been around a while but has been shown to be problematic in the long term. Honda V6 engines are known for their silky smooth operation durability reliability and dependability. GM is not. It should be fine for the 1st 100k but like he said if you plan on keeping it long term, the Honda is a much better choice. The Buick is definitely smoother overall and quieter because that's what it is built for. I think if you treat it well and are meticulous with your maintenance, you should be ok. A GM product will never outlast a Honda Product in any category. Baby it and drive highway miles mainly and you should be ok.

    One of the main deficiencies of reviews of SUVs is the lack of measurement of cargo- or passengers- or towing-WEIGHTS. For example, it should be easy for the reviewer to put, say, the necessary extra 150-180 lb dummies or even sandbags into the vehicle to see exactly what effect all that cargo mass would have on the get-up-and-go necessary to climb an entrance ramp onto a superhighway to merge safely with traffic.
    While testing TOWING performance is harder if the test SUV does not have a tow package, towing performance is also critical in a SUV. These vehicles are not meant to be sports cars, so watching the reviewer zoom off at a high speed may be entertaining, but it does not impart that much useful knowledge in the cargo-hauling sense.

    This Pilot looks nice and rugged on the outside, but it still is--like most Hondas--a bit too bland for my taste, especially in the interior. These cars are, to borrow from Jerry Seinfeld, what "oatmeal" is to other breakfast options. Predictable, unassuming, and practical? Yes. Fun, exciting, or bold? Eh. At $54k, you're asking a lot of money for a purely practical family hauler, particularly when other leaders in this segment (CX-90, Telluride, Pallisade) have far more personality and luxury to offer.

      @@gabevillarreal4779 5,500 miles on my '23 Sensory AWD and I love it. I was set on either a Pilot, Pathfinder, or Grand Highlander, but went QX60 at the last minute. I did a lot of on-line "research," but I didn't test drive anything else. My most recent previous vehicles were a CR-V and Equinox; those are my reference points. I've heard a couple reviewers mention that the drivetrain might not be as "refined" as some competitors. While I haven't driven any competitors, and I don't entirely know what they mean by that, the engine and tranny seem fine. Love the ride comfort and quality of the interior. Driver assistance features like adaptive cruise and lane keeping are very good. Infotainment is great.
      I submitted my list of 11 suggestions to Infiniti. The fact that there are only 11 is very good!
      * Add a lock for the fuel door.
      * Add a setting to auto-fold/unfold the side mirrors, instead of having to press the button every time.
      * Add the option for the digital speedometer in the instrument cluster to be centered with the steering wheel instead of being off to the right side of the screen.
      * Add a horizontal adjustment for HUD content, or at least do what is needed so that drivers who lean a little toward the center arm rest do not lose sight of HUD speedometer.
      * Add the ability to set a +/- adjustment for the automatic speed assist feature. In other words, when the speed limit changes and QX60 automatically adjusts your speed, if you have a +5 set it will set you to 5 MPH over the speed limit.
      * Move the HomeLink buttons to either the ceiling or the sun visor. Having to push up on the rearview mirror can cause it to move, which I don't want when I have its position set just right.
      * Move the headlight control to the dash to the left of steering wheel. I rarely change the headlight setting, and having it on the turn signal stem means I could inadvertently change it.
      * The rear seat belt notice that appears when the ignition is turned on stays on the screen far too long. Reduce it to 30 seconds. Then it would be perfect to use as a guide for letting the SUV warm up a little. When that notice goes away, it’s time to drive. But 65 seconds is too long.
      * Get rid of the paddle shifters. They're in the way for drivers who want to occasionally rest their hands on the wheel spokes.
      * Change parking sensor behavior so that it only beeps if there is an object in the way based on the gear you are in. If I'm in reverse and something is in front of me, there's no need to beep.
      * Extend the dead pedal a few inches to the left, i.e., away from actual pedals, so that drivers whose knee rests on the door will have a straight shot to the dead pedal for their lower leg so that their foot doesn't contact the dead pedal at an angle, thereby aggravating their 5th metatarsal.
