The only reason it wasn't is because Sony forced them to release it early, so there was much to be done. I'm glad they didn't give up on the game just because of everyone's shit-talking.

Exciting to see the game grow. My hopes for the future as a space-game enthusiast:
-Larger flyable ships (can walk around inside)
-updated flight model so you can actually crash
-stars moved outside of the skybox and into the playable space. And later having planets orbit the star.
-Dangerous celestial bodies (quasars, neutron stars,super massive black holes, etc..)
-New kinds of planets(ice planets, water worlds, sand worlds, lava worlds orbiting too close to the star, gas giants)
-larger settlements.
-war
-upgradable warp engine allowing lateral movement to specific galaxies.
-actually letting the player visit and explore the galactic center.
-co-op
-story missions
-flyable freighters
-upgradable freighters

I feel like most of the options you mentioned were said because you thought they were cool and not actually thinking about the implications of the game.
1.) You can own frieghters, though not technically flyable. You can design and recruit to the freighter.
2.) You can crash land, it literally said it in the trailer.
3.) Stars in box? So what you mean is: You want the entire map to be generated so you can... what? take 8 years to fly to a star without warp drive?
Orbiting planets would be useful though.
4.) Black holes are already there, and that's really the only one worth having for gameplay purposes.
5.) New planets are always welcome, but gas giants would serve only as an asthetic as you can't land anywhere. unless their were floating cities, but that kind of defeats the purpose of exploring planets. Could be a neat idea though, maybe local spacestations will be gas giants rather than sitting in empty space. Could be fun.
6.) War would be nice
7.) Meh, galactic travel isn't necessary. The game is massive enough. But I won't say no to it.
8.) Co-op is tricky, you can't just let people travel to anywhere because their friends are there. It would have to be its own mode. You also can't force players to wait for somene else to log on because they started a "coop" save, so it would definitely need to be well thought out.
9.) Freighters are not flyable, and as of yet they don't really need to be, the ship itself is not upgradable true, but it can be altered to facilitate multiple needs.
10.) Missions would be nice, though its a delicate procedure, the game has a huge emphasis on exploring the universe, and being a story that you make. To include missions might hinder these two fundamental gameplay elements. Remember, this game is more about survival than an RPG.
I'd simply ask for more diverse wildlife, better survival mechanics, and pets.

way better continued support that some of the other publishing companies out there. im looking at you EA. keep up the good work and while many of us will not forget that initial launch fiasco, will will def remember how much you care by following up with us through updates like this one.

I would like to have some of these features :
- Multiplayer
- Ships in where you can go arround
- More NPC's on Space Stations
- Cities. WE NEED CITIES!
- Better Planets
- More, More, MOOOOORE CONTENT!

Well, with the Hub project transpiring as we speak, if the team makes it to where you can see others bases in your game, everybody can build their bases together on the same planet and walla cities. ahaha who knows. still love the game
LordCammo I would add to that and say we need different large and small factions within the galaxy that have wars with each other, form alliances, conquer systems. Factions that you can join, oppose or ally yourself with. Adding a lively bar full of NPC's would also be nice.

The plantes are good, its just that a lot of people dont play the game enough, when you upgrade your shipe you will get the ability to travel to new stars, then you get better and more interesting planets than the ones in the start of the game.

Daxter no one asked for fucking vehicles... we asked for refunds!
Daxter cool looking planets, interesting animals, multiplayer, interesting combat, ringed planets, sentient walker drones. They are not listening at all.
I disliked because I wasn't able to fix my keybinding in the last update, and with this update that problem is still not fixed. It's impossible to enjoy a game where every time you want to walk forward you also open the build menu.
They haven't apologized for their bad behavior.
Hello Games is a studio with ONLY 16 employees(maybe less before the initial game was released?) .... There aren't a big time studio like EA. Give them a break!
Had a play around with this update on creative mode.. It's good. Having vehicles to explore the planets is much more fun than slowly walking around. Here's a list of updates I want for the 1.3 update, that would get me, and many others, to play this game properly again.
- Let me summon vehicles on any planet. Walking is slow and boring, and I don't want to have to make a planet my home planet, just to drive around. Just make it so you can take your main exocraft with you to any planet you explore. Driving the hover bike things is a lot of fun, and I'm more likely to explore planets if I can use it all the time. You could have them use fuel like the ship, if you really wanna play up the survival aspect. Also let me customise my exocrafts.. like, let me chose the colour at least..
- Let me have multiple bases. I would like to build multiple bases on different planets, and on the same planet. Every planet I go to, I immediately make it my home planet, just so I can drive around. I have no reason to build a decent base, if it's gunna get lost as soon as I find another planet. If there's only say.. 2,000 people still playing this game, then nobody is gunna find my base, because it's constantly moving, and I'm not gunna find anybody else's base in a galaxy of 18 quintillion planets.. If I can build 100 bases, then I'd make every one of them worthy of finding, and people would have more chance of stumbling across one..
- Missions. The most fun I've had in No Man's Sky, was doing the missions for upgrades, and blueprints, but once I had the upgrades, I had nothing else to grind towards. Give me some missions! Maybe I could bump into an alien on a Spacestation or Freighter, that is willing to pay me valuable resources to find an item, or there's a bounty on some alien's head on one of the planets, and I have to go track him down to get my reward. If you put factions into the game (Like a Rebellion and an Empire) then I could side with one, and do missions for them.
- Give me a goal. When I get to the centre of the Galaxy.. I go to a new galaxy and have to start again.. That is the MAIN flaw with No Man's Sky.. I'm grinding towards nothing.. I'm grinding towards having my stuff taken away from me, so I can start again.. I don't feel like I have a attainable, or worth while goal to grind for.. Everything I buy, or upgrade, just aids the grind. When the 1.1 update launched, I spent hours farming Lube so I could buy a freighter.. Once I owned a freighter, I realised it was just a tool to help me grind, but for what? I had no reason to keep playing, because my goal was just to own something that aided me to complete another goal that's a waste of time. I don't want to spend hours grinding to get a buggy, when all the buggy does is help me grind.. because when I get a buggy, what do I still have to grind for? To get to the centre of the Galaxy so I can have all my stuff taken from me?
Do you see me problem? I hope the 1.3 update gives me some goals in the game, something to accomplish.. I want to build a buggy to help me accomplish my goal, I don't want building the buggy to BE my goal, because once I have it, I have nothing to use it for, so it was all a big waste of time. Put something COOL at the centre of the Galaxy, something worthwhile, something I can work towards, so when I get there, I don't feel like I just wasted several hours of my life. I play this game for a few hours every update.. Give me a goal worth accomplishing, and I'll never put it down again.

You summed up why I haven't played this game since playing the 1.1 update once in November - it's still just pointless grind - sure they have added a bunch of really cool building features, and now vehicles - but ultimately there still isn't anything to do once you have finished uncovering the "story", which isn't all that compelling once you uncover it.

Phantom Leviathan No you can't? If you claim another base then it wipes your previous base completely.. I don't wanna have to claim a base every time I find a new planet I wanna explore.. I wanna get out my ship, and drive my hover bike around immediately.. I own a huge Star Destroyer, why can't I just keep my exocraft on my freighter and then beam it down to the planet when I want it?
like on mass effect 1 for example, when you have to explore a planet and your ship drop a planetary vehicle with you in it :) this will be available only with a Freighter ofc

Because the game was unfinished. Only this fact is enough to boycott the game. I don´t want to pay 60$ for a pice of shit that will get a mediocre game after a year. Plus their lies. Most devs would just give up on a bad game, but they didn't. They didn't leave it to rot, but are making it better. And that is something to respect.
No Man's Sky is getting there. This is awesome! All we need now is better AI for NPC's and animals and more diverse planets. I am glad Hello Games are finally listening to us.

i really respect that they didnt just run with our money, yeah they fucked up but they are trying to make this workout and become a great game.
Quantum I was burned by the initial release and I had a good laugh when I watched Angry Joe tear it apart. But some part of me wanted this game to be good and I stayed patient so it can be the game it wanted to be. I'm sorry Sean for what's going on for you but I know you didn't want this thing to happen. I admire Hello Games's commitment to support it long after release.

Nanalen Nanalen Well those are amazing RPG's, but I wouldn't call them spectacular open worlds. Maybe witcher 3 has a lively open world with bustlinf NPC's, any open world is better than GTA, gta is more of a sandbox than an open world. Horizon... well you got me there. RDR 2 isn't out yet but if it's anything like part 1 then it's again, more of a sandbox than an open world, though I do like RDR's characters.

Also, finding other people's bases? -Multiplayer seems likely on the horizon- Edit on this, I'm just really optimistic to see where the game goes, so I *hope* for multiplayer, but I can't say if they can add it. And if it weren't added, I'm fine with it becoming a good single player game.
SpaceWing Multiplayer wouldint do anything, youd play with your friends for a few hours flying around collecting resources then get bored again. The game needs more content and an actual story which is what i hope they can do

Well, with the adition of vehicles now, multiplayer would be amazing honestly, i would sink hours with my friends.
However, the game does need a bigger gameplay loop, more to watch, more variety, more WOW moments and a good ending, the story is pretty good if you ask me, it just needs a better conclusion.

Just doing what the game has to offer with multiple ppl would make a huge difference because it brings in a dynamic no game can have i feel.
They are adding more vehicle allowing for races (they even add race tracks), you can do nice battles in space maybe even with groups fighting. Simple stuff like "look there are 20 animals, let´s see who hunts down more" stuff like that (yeah the last one is a bit cruel but well~) can only happen with multiple ppl.
Nice going HG, I hope you can pull off making this game as great as you envisioned, and recover some of the lost players. Keep going guys!
4 days ago I left a comment saying we all want to be able to take our Exocrafts with us to any planet. Today I log on to my PS4 to find the 1.22 update gives us exactly that! Thank you! Thank you for listening to us! I will be playing No Man's Sky properly now :) ...until I have got all the upgrades, built all the Exocrafts, and have nothing else to grind towards.. Seriously though, a nice step in the right direction, but we still need goals to accomplish..

I can only agree to this! It´s becoming more and more. Ppl at the beginning were saying it could be Minecraft 2.0 - while not gameplay wise it definitly could take the same route and just become more and more complex and awesome the more time HG can invest.

kspjet 2 You can actually collect bounties, but you don't request them. Essentually when a high profile target enters your system, you're notified and have the option to take him out and collect the reward.
Already there in the game. There are 5 quest lines actually

I think after they get the rest of the content put in and rework the combat and trading to be a bit more exciting, if and when they add multiplayer it'll get another playerbase boom. But who knows if they'll drop the ball or score

You should create a certain solar system that only requires 1 warp drive (or none) to get to... it would be a place for players to interact, and there can be a main planet in the center where people can build bases and create city's by buying property... there can be different shops with ores, weapons, vehicles, and ships for sale... there would be a ton of people per server, and the outer planets would be where you can have races, find materials, and hang out with friends would be

No Man’s Sky has become one of my favourite games.
I never liked people that lie on important things, or people that stab others in the back, but i always think everyone can have a glimpse of redemption, and this update is exactly that.

Many of the things they promised will likely make it in through updates over time. If they had stated it that way prior to launch, they could have saved themselves a lot of trouble.

No Man's Sky could be like FC Barcelona against PSG : it is first destroyed but then it comes back in a phenomenal way
At least Sean Murray has been faithful with updates and is working hard to fix the game. New content takes a while to create and while I would have liked to see it in the game to begin with I am glad that they are at least trying to make it better. Also no one promised Multiplayer. There was a sticker that was covered up which said online but that could have been a glitch. Ubisoft games like For Honor and Dice's Battlefield 1 require constant online connection even during single player content "offline" mode. Therefore it could have just been for online connection required not online multiplayer gameplay. That really annoys me. I would truly like multiplayer options but I doubt we will ever see that since the universe in No Man's Sky is too diverse. I will have to reinstall the game though and try out the new update.
Tom Brown small team so yes it will take a substantial amount of time but I bet they were finish with this 4 months in and were just polishing it to the max which I approve of especially with a team that lost people.

Tom Brown I found a video of Murry coming out of hiding and had an interview when the reporter asked about multi-player and Murry was sort of laughing but he said it's in a late stage build and he needs to "play test" with it ( what ever that means)

For some reason out of the hard copies I sold as second hand, I kept no man's sky for just a emotional piece of sorrow and stuck to it but never played it after all the little content available was explored, love you hello games for not abandoning those who still saw potential in this game.

Markus Jensen it is dead. 70,000 people played it on PC at release. Then it went to 200. Now there is an update, it's at 5,000 but it will drop after a few weeks to 200 again haha

Since I discovered Star Wars, I dreamed of a game where I could fly through a seemingly endless Galaxy and do whatever the hell I wanted.
No Man's Sky gave me exactly that.
Despite all the shit it's been through, I never turned away from the game. I love this game and I probably always will. This is such an amazing update and it seems to be setting up multiplayer, which I could not be happier about. Props to the game developers for not only keeping up with the game, but doing so in an amazing way.

This is the update I played the most. Back then updates took allot longer than now so you could spend a ton of time on an update. It had really nice planets and colors.

These updates are almost making it a new game! love it!
In survival mode I hope they make it where u need to eat and drink or something that would be so awesome it sets the realization that u need to survive.
While this does look good, the game is still missing a ton of features that were promised. The game still needs:
*Multiplayer
*Factions
*Ship Classes (edit: Ship classes are actually in)
*Hacking
*Landing on Asteroids
*Destroying Space Stations and Fleets
*Large-Scale Space Battles Between Factions
*In-Atmosphere Freighters that Battle
*Ringed Planets
*Sand Planets
*Planets Rotating and Orbiting Around a Sun
*The Possibility of Flying Between Star Systems Manually
*Resources Depending On Distance From Sun
*Crafting That Has Complexity
*Large Creatures Affecting the Landscape
*Crashed Freighters on planets
These features were all promised but are missing from the game. These features need to be in in order for me to even consider buying this product.

the multiplayer that's being promised is just able to seeing each other, for me this missing feature is useless as fuck, why would you need a multiplayer where you cant kill or share resources ? that's not multiplayer at all
