With how much was put into the planets themselves in this part, I have a feeling part 2 will be a big POI overhaul.
Not saying these updates haven't been incredible as it is, but I think a whole range of new, expansive POIs is something that would really compliment part 1, and is the next big overhaul the game needs.

@@Aussie_Tomabsolutely agree, and since this first part focuses on basically all the core components of planets, the only other things i could see being worked on part two, would be POIs, resources, and perhaps the few remaining planet types that didn't show up in the patch notes for part 1 (barren planets, anomalous planets, and dissonant planets).

That's actually kind of ironic. I'm guessing you're a teenage or very early 20s, and don't realize/remember/know that when they stared NMS, it was actually the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what you wrote. Sean Murray completely failed at NMS the first few years of it's existence. They've definitely improved the game a lot since then, but they robbed a lot of people of their pre-order money and collector's edition money in the beginning, without delivering a science fiction novel cover.
I still think it's sad that people who spent $50-$60 on the game, got a crap game and got robbed......and now people can get the game for $5 with all these updates.
It's a mixed bag of emotions when it comes to this game. It's great that the game keeps updating and improving, but it only has this "greatest story in the video game history" (stealing the comment above mine lol) because they themselves dug the hole they were in. It's like someone causing a problem, and then fixing the problem they caused..... only to get praised for fixing the problem (which wouldn't have existed in the first place if it wasn't for that person).

It's amazing how far $60M can go when it's going to a passionate indie team and not to a public mega corp whose executive makes at least as much per year. Look how long they've continued development, sustaining themselves on the massive launch 8 years ago and continued sales because of these huge free updates and growth onto newer platforms. In an era of $70 base games with $20+ skins and multiple $20-40 battle passes, this is the sort of game we should all be supporting. This is how gaming should be.

While I don't think the product we have today would've been possible without Sony, I also think they nearly killed it before it could blossom. They forced the small studio to put out an incomplete version of what they described and wanted to publish. Luckily, after meeting this criteria, and later opening up to PC and Xbox, they gained enough freedom, time and funding to not only bring to fruition what was originally promised, but many many times beyond that. They've overdelivered so many times, and every time the content is free to all owners. It's truly incredible.
