@@Particulator the thing you have to remember is Sony were treating this as a triple "A" game. Sony would of been on theit back for a release date. I believe if they didn't release the game when they did the game would never of made it out at all. They would of simply just ran out of funding. If I remember correctly Sean Murray sold his house to fund this title so yeah it was do or die. It was originally a very small team and I think they did a great job. I brought the game on release after waiting a couple of years for it. If they brought another game out that interested me I'd go balls deep again!
@@Particulator This was a hugely ambitious title for even a large dev to do. They did drop the ball, but it seems like what they were capable of was pretty good. Small devs can't work on a game for 10 years, they just don't have the funding.

Most of the audience has allready given up. All that contant now for around 20 bucks. At the release it was the lie of the century in gaming branch. Half baked cake with no sugar. The beginning of anthemshit.
It took like two years for that to happen. Foundations & Pathfinder updates were well...adding to the foundation; vehicles, base building, visual increases and optimization. It took Atlas Rises which was a year after release to add to the main content and kick everything into gear, and then Next update (which came out almost a year after Atlas Rises) to expand on that on what was basically a re-release. So with that said Anthem still kind of has a chance to be revived.
To be fair they've had way more time. But on the other hand this team only had 15 people compared to these mega companies. Now I treat games like consoles. Wait till a better version come out and no pre orders which I never did anyway. I never understood that. It's not like there's a limited edition for a game.
@@IncognitoSprax all of those games will do better. Even 76. Regardless of the backlash, most games will come out like this now. They need to more honest but if they did nobody would pre order. And you shouldn't charge full price for an incomplete game. This definitely needs to be fixed. They're selling beta versions of games for full price.
Thing is tho cyberpunk is more linear and story driven. Even if cdpr wanted to, the sheer lack of replay ability of cyberpunk might cripple cdpr if they try to revive it

I haven't play No Man's Sky (yet) but these trailers always choke me up. This is just the most impressive and emotional redemption stories I've experienced. I hope this game and this company stay around for a long time. Absolute paragons of the industry.

At first, people didn't like your game. They were disappointed. And the people that did, were afraid that the game might fade away into history. But you listened to what your fans wanted, you took a NEXT step. Then, people started to enjoy the game more. You released more updates about what the people wanted. Now you're here, with one of the most advanced and amazing games ever make. Congratulations, Hello Games. You've done amazing throughout these four years and we're all proud of you.
The problem with playing on PC, there is no "upgrade" to improve graphics when you're running the apex of systems. It's a matter of expansions and content updates.
If you are reading this comment and you haven't bought the game, but it looks interesting to you, BUY IT! It's the best game in my collection, worth every penny! You get so much content and they aren't stopping releasing free updates. Support the developer, we have to encourage this kind of behavior!
I have been really tempted for a while now. Have a few other games to finish first but this has been on my dashboard for a long, long time. Will hopefully pair well with a future PC upgrade!
Yo I just want to say, as a player that preordered this game I have been playing since day one, and the difference in this game from the one from launch is mind blowing.... I see a hard working group of guys that worked on a project that had no business being pushed out like it was, to turning it into something.... interstellar (I’m sorry) but keep going guys and push out quality work
I watched a podcast from 2016 and they said "pulled a No Man's Sky" to mean a bad game. I then watched a video on the same channel but 2020, and "pulled a No Man's Sky" was used to mean great game.
Is there anything to do yet? I played about a year ago and the building elements were still really glitchy and everything looked cool but was low on content.

@@VitaKet launches fail, its what comes after launch that matters. yea your right 4 years ago its launch was bad. since then they have given us repeated updates each one making the game better and better and this one being possibly the biggest if they plan too make the model generation procedural as well which all in all is quite possible, this game would hade theoretical endless content.
Don't bother. It just leads to an emptier galaxy. Best galaxy is still the starting one. That said, some of the systems near the center are very nice visiting locations.

This game is evolving faster than star citizen, wich is kind of ironic (Guys, please, calm down, i know the difference of ambitions between both games. I said ironic because in 2016 you will be like "well, NMS turn out to be a crap i hope star citizen is finished soon!" and now all those hopes are in NMS. It's also achieving far less though. ProcGen just makes it appear like a lot more. But fidelity in SC is leagues beyond NMS. Both are great for their own reasons really.

I can't remember the last time a game developer has done right for their player base. I still remember the mess that happened at launch, but man you all really brought it back and this game is phenomenal now. You deserve every praise you receive
The way this game was turned around and made into something truly great makes me think that if I work hard enough, I can turn my life around and make it better.
We will all make it ladies and gentlemen, never give up, what bounces has to rebound. You are in a present, no matter how bad it may be, your future changes every millisecond you decide for, in the end, do not look around you, look within, look at your own timeline, it is only a race against yourself, your means are yours, nobody is equal, nobody's story is built the same whether they chose it that way or not. Comparison and jealousy is suicide, focus within, disregard what others think or say unless it's beneficial.
When NMS first released I was playing for six hours by the time I reached my third system. I went to name the planet but to my surprise it already had a name. I must have missed the other player by hours if that. Couldn't believe it. I messaged him on psn and they were as buzzed as I was. I still have the exchange on my ps4 I think. One of the best gaming moments I've experienced. We may have been the first players to cross planets in the game. Love this game. I miss playing it.
I remember the early days fondly as well...it was so new and exciting...i spent hours just taking off planets exploring and repeat.. Days Gone doing just that😂😎

Words cannot describe how amazing Sean and the rest of the Hello Games team are for continuing to build on this game 4 years after release. I find myself coming back in after huge updates and just getting lost in the worlds for ages. Thank you guys so much.
Sean Murray mentioned they send out "software" drones to visit worlds and take screenshots. It's the only efficient way to gather feedback from the quintillion+ planets and check their algorithms and the procedurally generated universe is working as intended.
No Man's Sky's players are funny: "A giant worm erupted, after a tornado tossed me around like a puppet in the hands of such untamed nature, lightning storms defied my existence while my life was at risk under a suffocating hazardous toxic atmosphere which was draining my survival gear... and... I'm loving this new weather! =D " Only in No Man's Sky! XD
Glad I didn't cave into the hype train at launch, but it's far past time that I hop on at this station. The amount of love and work put into the game speaks volumes. It's awesome to see a dev studio bring a game back from the brink of greatness like this. Keep being awesome!
@@Anuthal I beleve it, I've hopped on sparingly with each update but played for no more than 10 mins at a time. Really hoping I dont have to do much mining in a new file. Would be cool to obtain resources by fighting creatures of said resource. That's what ive been hoping for, for a while.

Get it! As a Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous fan, a game that is more "casual" like No Man's Sky is still a hell of a lot of fun. Also importantly, their turnaround story on the awful rushed nearly unplayable/barebones release, infamously bad communication and the years of work to get the game to this point is really incredible and shows an immense amount of integrity, grit and passion to stand behind their vision and do right by the fans when so many others would have walked away.

I'm having a hard time running this game on PC VR. I have a Vive Pro and AMD RX-5700 XT and I've lowered the graphics settings as far as they'll go. It's playable but very jittery and it crashes. Flat screen works fine
I have the same problem when doing skyrimvr vs normal skyrim. even kitted out with tons of mods, my normal skyrim runs way better. i think its just an issue with vr or maybe even just the vive pro in general.
something most people tend to forget is VR is just generally way more demanding because it's basically rendering twice the resolution as you have two screens in your headset so a big thing that would help a ton is just lower your resolution on your headset as much as is still comfortable to add to that look at the recommended specs for VR games that have a normal version and the recommended and minimum specs are always higher on the VR versions so for instance Skyrim special edition's recommended graphics card is a GTX 780 while Skyrim VR suggest a GTX 970 at minimum and a 1070 as the recommended card so that right there should tell you exactly why you're having problems bud
This is slowly becoming the Destiny game we dreamed of, interstellar galactic ftl games like this were ahead of their time and more and more we realize the new generation of technology have even allowed VR immersion. It is truly mind boggling, I am ecstatic to eventually play the New Generation.

You seem to be too young to remember the horrendous pc only games, which were horribly optimized and buggy. Consoles at least offer a baseline to focus on and pump money into the gaming industry, which if it weren't for consoles, would have a too high entry barrier for the majority of people being interested. I'm tired of this nonsensical finger pointing. Can't understand why it's so hard to give consoles credit. Is your ego so fragile? Again, the vast majority of PC gamers runs system on a level of the current Gen and below. Enthusiast are such a tiny fragment and even me, with my upper middle class built is in the top bracket. Let's remember that PS4 for example, has a gpu equivalent to GTX 700 series (760 If I'm not wrong). There's so much optimization can do. At some point you need more processing power. I've been a fan of hello games for years, all the back to when they were making browser games. I remember when I would hook up my shitty laptop and play that one where you were flying through a spaceship listening to music and dodging stuff, and the one where it was just a monster truck and the hello games logo with jelly physics. Now I'll be playing this on a 4k hdr TV on my ps5, its beautiful to see how far we all came. I'm so proud of yall.

Cool! Thanks for the free PS5 upgrade, Hello Games. A city in the game, finally! Hopefully with random building layouts too for each planet that has civilization on it. Looking forward to it in November 2020. Any chance some of the millions of planets will have more than one theme of terrain? That would be really cool to increase the incentive to explore each planet beyond the landing point.
You just have to be patient. More to come. And those are player made cities, not randomly generated. In lore the Sentinels destroyed all the cities and made sure there won't be any. But what I gather from the video the limit to base parts is either lifted or massively improved because of the SSD technology the next gen consoles. But that's twice as better than randomly generated cities, trust me. You can build a city yourself on any planet you want! That's a lot more hype. Check out some amazing bases some people have built.
My base planet has giant mountains in one side and a huge ocean with small islands on the other side. I found that ocean because I was looking for catalog every animal on that planet and the last two were on water.
You guys are amazing, I remember all the hate you got at launch and it wasn't entirely undeserved, but yall came together and worked so hard to make this game as good if not better than anyone could imagine, all I'm hoping for is that you guys keep updating the game and that your players reward you for doing so.
Being on Vulkan, it may be awhile yet, but man I would love to see this game with Real-time Ray Tracing. Looking forward to checking these improvements out on PC!

Heliosvector Star Citizen also has much higher hardware requirements than this game.

The problem with playing on PC, there is no "upgrade" to improve graphics when you're running the apex of systems. It's a matter of expansions and content updates.

You get so much content and they aren't stopping releasing free updates. Support the developer, we have to encourage this kind of behavior!
I have been really tempted for a while now. Have a few other games to finish first but this has been on my dashboard for a long, long time. Will hopefully pair well with a future PC upgrade!

I watched a podcast from 2016 and they said "pulled a No Man's Sky" to mean a bad game. I then watched a video on the same channel but 2020, and "pulled a No Man's Sky" was used to mean great game.
Is there anything to do yet? I played about a year ago and the building elements were still really glitchy and everything looked cool but was low on content.
@@loveblanket6512 Lets not forget that back in 2016 they had Playstations fist on the back of their head pushing for the release date regardless of the promises. Once they got out from that contract... the game really improved.

Don't bother. It just leads to an emptier galaxy. Best galaxy is still the starting one. That said, some of the systems near the center are very nice visiting locations.

I mean it helps that's nowhere near the scope of Elite or SC.
It's also achieving far less though. ProcGen just makes it appear like a lot more. But fidelity in SC is leagues beyond NMS.
Both are great for their own reasons really.

When NMS first released I was playing for six hours by the time I reached my third system. I went to name the planet but to my surprise it already had a name. I must have missed the other player by hours if that. Couldn't believe it.
I messaged him on psn and they were as buzzed as I was.
I still have the exchange on my ps4 I think.
One of the best gaming moments I've experienced.
We may have been the first players to cross planets in the game.
Love this game. I miss playing it.

Sean Murray mentioned they send out "software" drones to visit worlds and take screenshots.
It's the only efficient way to gather feedback from the quintillion+ planets and check their algorithms and the procedurally generated universe is working as intended.

Glad I didn't cave into the hype train at launch, but it's far past time that I hop on at this station. The amount of love and work put into the game speaks volumes. It's awesome to see a dev studio bring a game back from the brink of greatness like this. Keep being awesome!

@@Anuthal I beleve it, I've hopped on sparingly with each update but played for no more than 10 mins at a time. Really hoping I dont have to do much mining in a new file.
Would be cool to obtain resources by fighting creatures of said resource. That's what ive been hoping for, for a while.
@Justin Provost I hear ya, I know you can do mission, and farm and all that. But the fact that you say it starts with annoying bits can be fixed. No debate im sure its fantastic once you do that. But I got this day one and everytime I play I have to mine my ass off before doing something significant so I fell off and I used to be the guy yelling at people to try it :D

Get it! As a Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous fan, a game that is more "casual" like No Man's Sky is still a hell of a lot of fun. Also importantly, their turnaround story on the awful rushed nearly unplayable/barebones release, infamously bad communication and the years of work to get the game to this point is really incredible and shows an immense amount of integrity, grit and passion to stand behind their vision and do right by the fans when so many others would have walked away.

I'm having a hard time running this game on PC VR. I have a Vive Pro and AMD RX-5700 XT and I've lowered the graphics settings as far as they'll go. It's playable but very jittery and it crashes. Flat screen works fine
I have the same problem when doing skyrimvr vs normal skyrim. even kitted out with tons of mods, my normal skyrim runs way better. i think its just an issue with vr or maybe even just the vive pro in general.
Make sure that Custom Resolution Multiplier in SteamVR video settings is set to 100% or lower.
theres no solution except get a better cpu. game is poorly optimised
something most people tend to forget is VR is just generally way more demanding because it's basically rendering twice the resolution as you have two screens in your headset so a big thing that would help a ton is just lower your resolution on your headset as much as is still comfortable to add to that look at the recommended specs for VR games that have a normal version and the recommended and minimum specs are always higher on the VR versions so for instance Skyrim special edition's recommended graphics card is a GTX 780 while Skyrim VR suggest a GTX 970 at minimum and a 1070 as the recommended card so that right there should tell you exactly why you're having problems bud

This is slowly becoming the Destiny game we dreamed of, interstellar galactic ftl games like this were ahead of their time and more and more we realize the new generation of technology have even allowed VR immersion. It is truly mind boggling, I am ecstatic to eventually play the New Generation.
I love you Hello Games. You guys are what a normal game studio should strive towards, free and consistent content and when you mess up you own it and work harder to fix it.

No. PC players are limited as well because of consoles (one example is the base size limit, which comes from console), and many other things.

Consoles at least offer a baseline to focus on and pump money into the gaming industry, which if it weren't for consoles, would have a too high entry barrier for the majority of people being interested.

Regarding PC optimization gaining benefits because of consoles... It has more to do with devs' experience in industry than consoles.
Consoles are really the good deal. I don't despise or reject them. On the contrary, because of these that we have excellent good AAA games. They have their many perks.
But about NMS that's true. They couldn't make the world greater because of console limitations. If they upgraded for PC only, they would play "alone" in their platform.
As I told you, many won't be able to run this new version in their PCs. And many others (including the 970s guys) will. Let's remember that PS4 for example, has a gpu equivalent to GTX 700 series (760 If I'm not wrong). There's so much optimization can do. At some point you need more processing power.

This has been such a great year for NMS
I've been a fan of hello games for years, all the back to when they were making browser games. I remember when I would hook up my shitty laptop and play that one where you were flying through a spaceship listening to music and dodging stuff, and the one where it was just a monster truck and the hello games logo with jelly physics. Now I'll be playing this on a 4k hdr TV on my ps5, its beautiful to see how far we all came. I'm so proud of yall.

Cool! Thanks for the free PS5 upgrade, Hello Games. A city in the game, finally! Hopefully with random building layouts too for each planet that has civilization on it. Looking forward to it in November 2020. Any chance some of the millions of planets will have more than one theme of terrain? That would be really cool to increase the incentive to explore each planet beyond the landing point.

And those are player made cities, not randomly generated. In lore the Sentinels destroyed all the cities and made sure there won't be any.
But what I gather from the video the limit to base parts is either lifted or massively improved because of the SSD technology the next gen consoles. But that's twice as better than randomly generated cities, trust me. You can build a city yourself on any planet you want! That's a lot more hype. Check out some amazing bases some people have built.
My base planet has giant mountains in one side and a huge ocean with small islands on the other side. I found that ocean because I was looking for catalog every animal on that planet and the last two were on water.
Everyone talkin about other stuff, but I'm just looking at that beautiful base lol
