It's interesting to review the 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3 videos and to see the massive like/dislike ratio shift from overall negative to positive. It's also interesting that even in the first update's video, a lot of people held popular opinions that they were pleased, instead of criticizing Hello Games over and over. You could tell they were upset still, and rightfully so, but they were willing to keep giving the game a look (though being on that video you have to expect they'd be willing, otherwise they're just there to shit on the developers, but there ARE people like that...).
Props to Hello Games for never abandoning their game. You people are truly inspirational for sticking with something that people mocked and laughed off to no extent. With the Rise of Atlas comes the Rise of NMS once again.

Guys, we all know that No Man's Sky didn't launch with all the content we were promised, but they're slowly adding it in update-by-update. They're improving the game for us. Why would you hate that? It's slowly becoming the game we all hyped it up to be and that's a really good thing. I ditched NMS before its first update came out and recently downloaded it again to try out this update. Everything's changed for the better. I was impressed by the first 5 minutes of my playthrough. The UI's been improved as well as ship combat. There's new ships and elements. We can build bases and land vehicles. We can buy HUGE SPACE FREIGHTERS. There's individual economies, alliances and a small element of multiplayer. Hello Games is getting there. Can't you guys just be grateful? Not to mention that all of these updates are FREE. The Devs haven't given up on the game and neither should you.
Well done to Hello Games! They are steadily improving this game by adding a plentiful array of interesting activities to keep players consistently distracted and entertained. That's what the old NMS severely lacked - activities.
I am fine with them adding stuff like this to the game but honestly this should have been there day one. Kudos to them for finally trying to put out a non alpha game.
I'm just glad they keep adding the stuff that made me want it in the first place. The new biomes, the crashed freighters, that gate. Now all I want is that planet where it's all just floating islands and stuff.

I can't say I'm happy with Hello Games, or NMS as I've experienced it, which was, admittedly, about 29 hours of playtime immediately after launch and not much more, since. I can however, commend them on not abandoning NMS entirely, as many other companies have done when met with such disastrous reception. I'm impressed that they've taken such steps towards fulfilling their release promises, significantly late as they may be in doing so, and while i still maintain that they should have been ready at launch as promised, late is, i suppose, still better than never. Perhaps the fact that we're now "impressed" with a company bothering to fix their own mess instead of cash-grabbing and running is telling about the health (or lack thereof) of the games industry itself, but i do applaud Hello Games for bucking at least one of the industry's growing list of negative trends, and to an extent it's rekindled some hope for the game; i might just give it another go, which means a fair bit from a cynic like me. Billy Bob while indeed Sony did have a deadline for HG, they didn't "rush" them. That's like doing a school project, suddenly losing all progress, having to start over and cobble together as much as possible right before the deadline, then blaming the teacher for having a terrible project that barely lived up to the original. Tbh because i wasn't hype for this game when it was coming out, i find it to be really fun when i play it. My expectations weren't very high, and i never payed attention to how the devs were hyping it, so because of this, it's a pretty fun game imo

westingtyler ideas Yeah a mountain base or beachfront base (esp. since in the patchnotes it says beach shoreline is "improved") would be amazing. Currently the random plateau in the middle of nowhere can be quite lame. But as I've told other people in the comments about various features, at least it's a good solid start which is most of the battle. Good improvements can for sure come later.

I feel like everything they said the game was going to be was something they truly wanted.They just fell under media pressure and had to release it while it was hot (media wise.) If the game was to be released now it would died down and not profit as much. But I am glad they are using the profit to provide free content.
This game is slowly turning fom a warning about the dangers of overhyping a game to a story of redemption for a game dev who repaired their mistakes over time. Nice work, you guys, keep it up !

Exactly the same, I liked the game since the beginning, and I was not even disappointed by the lies invented by angry 3 years old people who wanted a multiplayer. Sean Murray said that it was a solo game, he also said that there wasn't any real goal, and that you can try to reach the center of the galaxy if you want a challenge. And how can somebody say he lied 'cause the game isn't even finished yet : they said that a lot of features would come with the next free updates. And if people are angry for the 60 $ prize, it's the prize for some years of new updates which won't come in DLCs.

Honestly, I'm pretty miffed as hell that the release version of NMS was an absolute letdown in comparison to what it promised. But a company being able to keep pushing their game forward, in spite of the massive storm of deserved negativity and backlash, and release updates that brings its status to meet the expectations it set out, really says something. Even AAA titles go for a cash grab and drop their game within a year, but NMS is trying to grow past that. "Forgive, but never forget." None of us will forget how NMS's launch went and the disappointment we felt. But this update is their proof of their steps towards earning our forgiveness, and I am willing to be patient and give them the time they need to do so.
Guys, if you apply the multiplayer like how we wanted, I will surely play this game again. It is good to see you are putting hardwork in it and it is good to see you're improving the game. But you should understand that game still lacks a depth in story and missions. You achieved Asimov in design but not in story. All I want is immersive missions and a deep storyline that pushes me into thinking. Aside from this, if you implement multiplayer like how we wanted, then it is done, the rest is only adding much smaller features we want and improving the gameplay. Keep it up Hello Games, don't fail us twice, please.

When I looked at the E3 pressconference ( th-cam.com/video/mGy8HIYBwV0/w-d-xo.html ), I noticed some small things that would make a great addition for the game experience. For example, the hyperdrive (at 2:55 in the link) actually gives a great sense of being traveling from one system to another. There is small differences in both sound and visual effects that created a completely different feeling than in the full released game. For example I liked how the planets came closer before he was entering hyperdrive as well as the short moment before the destination Keyti was reached. The shakiness while in hyperdrive, the short travel time and with the sound effects combined made a really cool experience. It helped the hyperdrive travelling sequence to not feel like a replacement for loading screen. Hope they'll eventually also add details like this in the future. Small things that makes huge differences. I love this game by the way! Great to see Hello Games continuously improve the game. :)

Billy Bob while indeed Sony did have a deadline for HG, they didn't "rush" them. That's like doing a school project, suddenly losing all progress, having to start over and cobble together as much as possible right before the deadline, then blaming the teacher for having a terrible project that barely lived up to the original.
It just doesn't make any sense and it's pretty much pointing fingers at each other as if we're in kindergarten again.

Tbh because i wasn't hype for this game when it was coming out, i find it to be really fun when i play it. My expectations weren't very high, and i never payed attention to how the devs were hyping it, so because of this, it's a pretty fun game imo

westingtyler ideas Yeah a mountain base or beachfront base (esp. since in the patchnotes it says beach shoreline is "improved") would be amazing. Currently the random plateau in the middle of nowhere can be quite lame. But as I've told other people in the comments about various features, at least it's a good solid start which is most of the battle. Good improvements can for sure come later.

Exactly the same, I liked the game since the beginning, and I was not even disappointed by the lies invented by angry 3 years old people who wanted a multiplayer. Sean Murray said that it was a solo game, he also said that there wasn't any real goal, and that you can try to reach the center of the galaxy if you want a challenge. And how can somebody say he lied 'cause the game isn't even finished yet : they said that a lot of features would come with the next free updates. And if people are angry for the 60 $ prize, it's the prize for some years of new updates which won't come in DLCs.

Honestly, I'm pretty miffed as hell that the release version of NMS was an absolute letdown in comparison to what it promised. But a company being able to keep pushing their game forward, in spite of the massive storm of deserved negativity and backlash, and release updates that brings its status to meet the expectations it set out, really says something. Even AAA titles go for a cash grab and drop their game within a year, but NMS is trying to grow past that.
"Forgive, but never forget." None of us will forget how NMS's launch went and the disappointment we felt. But this update is their proof of their steps towards earning our forgiveness, and I am willing to be patient and give them the time they need to do so.

I was a bit disappointed at launch. But after seeing the 3 updates they have made to the game, I have just bought it back and cant wait to play!
Guys, if you apply the multiplayer like how we wanted, I will surely play this game again. It is good to see you are putting hardwork in it and it is good to see you're improving the game. But you should understand that game still lacks a depth in story and missions.
You achieved Asimov in design but not in story. All I want is immersive missions and a deep storyline that pushes me into thinking. Aside from this, if you implement multiplayer like how we wanted, then it is done, the rest is only adding much smaller features we want and improving the gameplay.
Keep it up Hello Games, don't fail us twice, please.

Great game. Hello games has done a great job but has been 100% controlled by sony who forced these guys to release a game which clearly was Early access as finished product. Really happy with the project. It will go far.

When I looked at the E3 pressconference ( th-cam.com/video/mGy8HIYBwV0/w-d-xo.html ), I noticed some small things that would make a great addition for the game experience. For example, the hyperdrive (at 2:55 in the link) actually gives a great sense of being traveling from one system to another. There is small differences in both sound and visual effects that created a completely different feeling than in the full released game. For example I liked how the planets came closer before he was entering hyperdrive as well as the short moment before the destination Keyti was reached. The shakiness while in hyperdrive, the short travel time and with the sound effects combined made a really cool experience. It helped the hyperdrive travelling sequence to not feel like a replacement for loading screen. Hope they'll eventually also add details like this in the future. Small things that makes huge differences.
