Thanks for sharing this! Wouldn't you think a ferrule might give it more stability, considering you already weakened the top end of your wood by boring the hole for the theraded insert?
Nice project. Rather than taking the time to bring up the tail stock with the drill, just put a small centered hole on the end and use a handheld drill bit with a homemade handle on it. Put it up to the centered hole and you can drill the hole in a couple seconds. Also works great for drilling a depth hole for bowls, boxes etc. A small pill or toothpick box in the shotgun shell size would be cool.
Nice, Robert. Now you can crack open four cold ones at once. If Harry says he hears that it looks too big a lot, just tell him looks are deceiving. Bill
Well, I don't have a shotgun either. Actually I bought the empty shells online. I figured I could probably go ask at gun ranges but never got around to that.
Great idea using the expended shotgun shells! Looks like a nice easy project. 🙂
Very nice,Robert
...12th "like"...lucky me...gauging from the "likes", 12th should be just perfect!!!
Well done...👍...and now I'm shot...😉

That's a very nice looking jig for the drill press you have. Was it self built?
Wish you had mentioned those were spent shells...heaven knows someone will try to use live ones...stay safe...press on 😎Joe
I was going to say the same thing. Darwin Award material...
I would have to sell a whole bunch of these to be able to justify the cost of the shotgun.😃
