- For this week’s project I am needing to stock some inventory on a small low-priced item for upcoming craft fairs. To sell items at a low price the only way to make money is to make them fast! These little pin cushion stands are quick to turn and Harry loves to have them in the booth because it draws in the ladies.
We hope you enjoy the video!

Ahhh, a pin cushion for my Mother in law to sit on. Uh, I mean use.
Great pin cushion stand Robert.
Great project, and great idea.
Thanks!
Too cute. It would also make a nice lidded pot.
That's a great idea Sue!
Yes, I had that thought too… to store some useful little things like a tape measure or thread 🪡 Nice project!
Very lovely. btw, Harry's Alabama kin have given me some beautiful driftwood in the mill pond. I can't wait to turn it.
Harry did say he's got an uncle in Alabama. I believe his name was Swampy Beaver.
Great idea, local sewing shops would sell these no problem.
Hmm....I've got to go look for local sewing shops now!

Nice piece Robert.
Thanks Carl!
Nice one Robert
Thanks Andrew!
Great idea !
Kewl project
Thanks!
Very cool project 👍
Thanks Robert!
Great idea for small gifts. Thanks Robert.
Yep, thanks Jean! Got to try and stock up on some small Xmas gifts for upcoming holiday markets.
Really nice idea great for getting rid of off cuts too
Yep! I'll usually use whatever corners I've got left from a bowl blank to make a few.
Nice shape. The mineral oil / beeswax can really cut down on sanding dust if you dip sandpaper in it before sanding.
Thanks George! I never thought of using that while sanding. I could of used some abrasive paste but skipped out on that on this one.
Got some of those in the other day. You did a great job. Hope mine turn out as well. Bigger hope is that hey sell VERY well.
I bet they will! Can put them right next to those awesome seam rippers you make.
What a awesome design 👏👏
Thanks! They're super simple as you can see!
Beautiful little project Robert!
Great idea! Looks wonderful.
Nice, Robert. Are you going to try to sell Harry, too?
Bill
What ratio beeswax to Mineral Oil do you use? And just buff it off after? Looks great, wish we had craft fairs here!
Sadly I don't remember! I was taught this mixture during the first ever class I took with a woodturning club member. I'll have to try and scrounge around. You basically just apply it and then buff it in and try to develop some heat to help the wax melt more and absorb in the wood a bit.
What price do you ask?
How do you mix the mineral oil and bees wax together
What I recall doing was setting up a pan over a heat source and melting some of the beeswax then add some mineral oil. I don't recall the exact ratios but in the end once it cools it was the consistency of room temperature coconut oil I'd say.
The project is great... However the Safety First shirt points out a potential hazard for a serious injury. Promoting the wearing of a ring while turning is not a good practice. It is quite easy to have a catch on that ring
The ring is made of silicone.
