      @@TheFirstWhiteRanger I heard that same interview, it was absolutely appalling. He was repeatedly given the opportunity to condemn it and would not. In the end he said he was having trouble hearing the interviewer due to a bad line and ended the call.

    This is dirty dark reporting, the lowest its been in years, JC has nothing to explain, less than nothing, it's showing how desperate the establishment has gone, my advice to anyone is switch off and stop paying your licence fee now. I am more interested in finding out why TM lost 114 child abuse files, perhaps Newsnight can to a programme on that?

    God this is desperate. The state of the BBC right now. They're all bloody Tories. The fact this was the first item makes their agenda transparent

      this is very silly - tories are convinced that the beeb are a liberal marxist conspiracy while you are equally sure that the bbc are "all bloody Tories"..
      fact is BBC journalist are all doing their best to simply report the facts and not take sides - sometimes faced with the dilemma of how clearly and forthrightly to point out the failings of any particular politician or political party ..
      there is a problem that arises around the issue of all mainstream political parties/governments stockpiling and supporting the stockpiling of WMD - in so far as BBC naively seems to assume that to be impartial is not to forthrightly challenge a policy that would appear to be the consensus - it feels obliged not to step out of line - despite that consensus being murderous and insane..

      "HE laid flower as the grave of international terrorists and HAMMAS, Hezbollah, and IRA are his mates. he is disgusting"
      every year leaders of all mainstream political parties in this country lay a wreath on a monument to among others - those terrorists who fire bombed Dresden - in a clear measure of their willingness to repeat that crime..
      by contrast JC was laying a wreath as a measure of his condemnation of all murder, war and terrorism..

    Corbyn gives a voice to the silenced in these disputes. That’s what he does; it demonstrates the compassion of the man. He speaks for me, and millions of others on so many issues, especially the victims in Palestine and Israel. Sorry about that. I’m sorry also that equality (in all its forms) is simply going to be a little inconvenient and bad news for some - but it’s time for the world’s peace mongers to unite.

    It makes you wonder why the BBC never was critical towards Menachim Begin, when he was prime-minister of Israel between 1977-1983, but much earlier ordered for the terrorist attack on the King David Hotel in Jeruzalem in 1946. The King David Hotel was the British headquarters at the time and 91 people, amongst whom 28 British, were killed. The BBC was silence about this. The BBC is also silent about the fact that Ramsey Clark, former minister of justice of the USA was also present. And that the tory Lord Sheikh was also present is not important for the BBC. The BBC should distinguish activism from journalism. Or at least try to do that better. This is so shamefull...

      Geert van Schaik The point here is very simple : while Whore-being always supports the terrorists, Wilders is innthe constant struggle against the islamofashists, meanning the terrorists. That's why he has is threatened while Whore-being is oraised by them. BTW, never forget his encounters with the checoslovakian "diplomat" who was a spy if the chech KGB as a matter 9f fact. & his trip to the East Germany(!!!) which surely was condacted under the tight control of the notorious Stazy! BTW, Philby was informed to the MI5 after by the woman he flirted with just after bashing Israel, just like Whore-being usually did.Meanning, every commy-cunt-ze bashes & smears Israel

      Try not to forget your medicine!
      Wilders is a Dutch parlementarian. He earns almost 7000,- euro each month there. He had a stabile position in parlement, but now he's losing seats to another extreme-right party. All in all the total amount of seats for extreme-right parties in the Netherlands remains about the same. Wilders party - the PVV - probably will remain existing but it will lose seats to the other party, because that now has become more popular. Wilders is getting nowhere with his ideas or with his party. A couple of years ago he was part of the government, and he couldn't deliver. At some point he sought for a coalition-conflict and than he pulled the plug. Since then he is never asked again to help forming a government and the other parties have also officially declared that they don't want to rule with Wilders. Wilders knows this, but he is in the parliament for the money, so he will keep up his idiotical stance on Moslims. And as long he is in parliament, he has a big income.
      I would want the Dutch government to stop to pay for his security, because it is he who makes people mad. Also for principle reasons that he by now should have his act together and should organise this himself. I must add to this that the Moslims in this country (NL) don't pay much attention to him anyways. His whole protection is useless and completely exploited to picture Wilders as a victim, and being a victim gains votes.
      So Wilders is not a hero. He does this for getting a good income.
      Also... Extreme-right parties as his PVV but probably also in other countries gain votes when Islamist attackn just prior to elections. We've seen this again and again and for opportunistic reasons it wouldn't be strange at all if extreme-right parties have contacts with islamists groups and actually tell them when and where to attack.
      I cannot prove this, but both Caucasian extreme-right and Islamist terrorists seem to win when there is an islamist attach somewhere in our cities. This is not cynical at all... Israel has helped many islamist terrorist in their hospitals. They also gave free way via Israel to the so-called white-helmets. We see very strange alliances... and I don't buy them. I think the extreme-right just orders terrorist attacks.

    Can you imagine, in your comfortable western existence, a time when you would have to take up arms and lay down your life against an injustice? Few of you will ever have to face that question. At one point in British history Churchill made a blood curdling speech before the House, some of which were for capitulation with the Nazi's and he told the House that even if it meant laying in the blood of his fellow Englishmen in a resistance against the Nazi's he would do it. Now, try to imagine that Palestinians feel any less for their country. Try to imagine that the Irish feel any less for their country. If YOU as an English person were faced with an occupying power what would you do? My wife is Jewish. My friends are Jewish. Not one of them agrees withe the violence against the Palestinians. Everyone of my Jewish friends agrees that even against Hitler, pressure could have been brought to bare that would have precluded the need for violence. Once again, in the maligning of Jeremy Corbyn we are hearing those voices who wish to rush to violence. I am not very well educated. And yet I see the truth. A man, so obviously of peace, is being besmirched at the behest of the violent men.

      @charliemcgrain 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Neither would I. But you might want to make yourself aware of the actions of Zionist terrorists, in the public record, at the beginning of this conflict. It was an extremely brutal campaign. I don't play the 'moral equivalence game,' blood is on everyone's hands. But you cannot move forward from a one sided or biased position, Rich. Your 'nice try' attitude tells the world that you will not be a part of any solution.

    • @charliemcgrain
      @charliemcgrain 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My wife is Jewish. And there are millions of Jewish people around the world who are against the actions of the "Israeli state." Pretty much the entire world, except the UK and USA governments condemn Israeli State actions. But I think there is a really important point: There really does exist a Nazi, antisemitic movement in this world. It has to be crushed. But when claims are made against the likes of Corbyn, it is very much like crying wolf. It is a serious accusation and needs to be leveled at real antisemitic actors or the accusation looses its power. One would have to be particularly blind to find anything antisemitic about Corby. That is a nonsense and the world sees it for what it is. But, without knowing a thing about me, you level the accusation at me too. That says much more about you than it does about me. It will take 'the voice of reason' on both sides of this issue. I can't see you as being any part of a solution.

    The BBC should be ashamed of itself. We know how this works The editor allocates in advance 13 minutes for an interview. The interviewee gives honest, accurate answers but because there are still 10 minutes left Evan Davies has to prolong the interview by pretending that he has avoided the question or twisting matters. When the interviewee points out that Davies is doing this Davies still gets back to his questions that imply his question has still not been answered. Why? Because the programme needs content to fill the 3 minutes still remaining. If you are not really listening intently (and few do at 10.50 just before bedtime) you might come away with the impression that Corbyn allies are spinning and not being straight. This is what Fox News does. We expect better from the BBC.

      Yes Chris, jezzers record speaks for itself.... and it shows over the years he has been to a plethora of palestini sympathetic gatherings.
      Chris.... I thank God you are not my mp. Many leaders condemn the attack, but who in their right mind then goes and lays a wreath, prays to allah, on a grave that includes known terrorists...?oh wait...jezzer. Nice one....sound judgement.

  • @avenginglettuce
    @avenginglettuce 6 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    That was a complete train wreck. It seems that the simple truth is that yes, Corbyn was invited and was present at the event for noble reasons, but that he laid a wreath on the graves of people who functioned both in a governing capacity for Palestine and as part of a group who plotted terrorist attacks. Corbyn should just come out and say that as part of the event, he was lead to lay a wreath on the graves of people whose full history he was unaware of, or accept that he made a mistake in laying the wreath where he did and that his only intention was to honour those who died in the 1985 attack.
    Obviously this stuff is being dug up to cause Corbyn trouble, the Daily Mail, Murdoch press and the like, probably have folders of stuff like this, which when presented with the right framing, leads to scandal. There's no doubt in my mind that it's a coordinated attack to destabilise him, so they can come to the next leader and tell them to play ball, else suffer the same endless smears and attacks as Corbyn.
    Corbyn spent most of his political life as a back bench MP, protesting and campaigning. That's a different life to that of somebody who's groomed for high office. Yes he's rubbed shoulders with some unsavoury people, yes he's shown political naevety in some of the events he's attended and words he's spoken, but if you look at his broader record, it's one of campaigning tirelessly for peace and fighting against racism and discrimination. If you're in the trenches of this stuff you're going to get some mud on you.
    He needs to get better at addressing these things and shutting them down quicker and he needs to show some humility where he's made mistakes. The attempts to smear him as a hate monger who supports violence is a gross misrepresentation of the man and his history though, and he would do well to talk more openly about the Daily Mail and their history, the next time they go on the attack.

    • @shaffermarkshaffer
      @shaffermarkshaffer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agreed, but... If you look at the pattern of these 'misunderstandings' a clear picture of the man reveals itself. Unless you subscribe to the view that he has been extremely unlucky and accident prone? His single minded hatred of Israel as a symbol of Western imperialism and American capitalism has, I believe, edged its way into boarder-line anti-semitism. He has an obvious blind spot that finds him 'accidentally' plodding through the sewer time after time. Enough already!

    • @naturous_aspect5828
      @naturous_aspect5828 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I concur.

    • @avenginglettuce
      @avenginglettuce 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's hard to disagree with much of that. I don't think anybody truly believes that he has a genuine hatred of anyone because of their racial or religious identity, but indeed, his alignment with the Palestinian cause has lead him to some noble and necessary places but also to some dark and dangerous ones.
      I've said for a long time, he needs to address the broader point around this, and concede that in the past his campaigning has lead him to share platforms with the wrong people and that his political history has an inherent bias against Israel, which has caused him to be less responsive than he should have been, towards the sensitivities of Jewish people.
      People will accept that, it takes quite some courage to publicly admit your own flaws, and then he gets to shut this down, otherwise the hits are going to keep coming and coming to the point that the party will be perpetually paralysed and can do nothing else but put out the Daily Mail's fires.
      Then the easiest way to fix the problem will be to simply remove Corbyn and that - particularly after the strong election result - will make the previous coup look like a Vicar's tea party.

      Corbyn did NOT lay down a wreath at the grave of (suspected) terrorists ! The details: Western politicians (incl. a Tory and a LibDem) joined a conference in 2014 to promote unity within the Palestinians so they can negotiate with Israel.
      The government of Tunisia was also engaged in the meeting. As is often the case during such visits there are ceremonies of commemoration or visiting of places of historic importance.
      One such side event was to lay down wreath(s) in the _Palestinian graveyard in Tunis_ (yes, they have their own grave yard). That was not an event that was planned ahead, I assume it was a show of goodwill and relation building by Corbyn to go along.
      Who was remembered ? The Israeli airforce around 1985 had attacked Tunisia and bombed a site where they suspected PLO in exile (the exile government !) - they ALSO killed civilians.
      btw: Not even the killed PLO members / leaders were accused of having aided in the Munich hostage event.
      That act of war against another nation was condemned by governments worldwide - including by Thatcher and Reagan.
      The Israels killed 45 people (among them were civilians, not only important people within the PLO).

The electorate aren't as stupid as you think, the more apparent your bias is, the more you seek to divert the electorate away from Labour's policies, the more the majority of the electorate will realise that what you claim will be bad for the electorate will actually be good for the electorate.
    The next election will not be a Trumpesque, leadership popularity contest, political policies will be key and the electorate have learnt from their previous mistakes. The majority will no longer vote in the best interest of a corporate elite against their own interests, regardless of any economic scare stories the corporate media will be undoubtedly communicate to the electorate as they have previously.

      I've got a lot of time for JC but I would disagree with you on this one. JC was pictured doing something and Evan was asking for clarification. Holding a politician to account for his actions is just the BBC's job, not necessarily being "against" them.
      I just wish Chris Williamson had used the opportunity to clarify the situation and move on.

      00; Teresa May's government sold Saudi Arabia the weapons that were used this week to kill 50 school children in Yemen, and are causing the single largest humanitarian crisis in the world, we rarely hear any criticism about this from the BBC. Hell we are barely told anything about that war at all, it's much easier to focus on Syria where we can call Russia the bad guys and can pretend we aren't responsible for enabling war crimes.
      Trump openly supports Israel despite the fact they have been killing hundreds of Palestinians just a few weeks ago. This support is to the extent where his advisors have been trying to pressurise/threaten Jordan into accepting several million Palestinian refugees as full citizens, and they moved the embassy to Jerusalem. We hear more condemnation about him fucking a porn star, or some fantasy about him colluding with the Russians.
      We are constantly told that Russia is a danger to our democracy in the lack of any tangible evidence, but when the Israeli embassy are caught on camera deliberately attempting to undermine Corbyn, and even attempting to get a tory MP (Alan Duncan) the sack by manufacturing a scandal, the government and the newspapers are incredibly relaxed about it all.
      It's easy to criticise Trump for his policies; they are calculated to enrich the richest, he has increased the deficit, pissed on policies that can help the poor and despite his pledge to reduce America's involvement in foreign wars is as aggressive as any of his predecessors, (particularly in promoting the interests of Israel). I have absolutely no interest in nonsense about who he has fucked, or his links to Russia; unless actual evidence about collusion were to emerge. The outrage about that is as manufactured as this crap about Corbyn, faux outrage on the basis of nothing.
      If the media (including the BBC) were competent they would focus more on what is important; i.e policy, people's actual suffering, actual evidence of attempts to undermine UK democracy and less on trivial crap such as who Trump boned, or whether Corbyn laid a wreath too close to the grave of a guy who possibly may have known a terrorist once.
      They are pursuing a news agenda set by headlines in the tabloids, chasing up on sensationalism and ignoring real sodding issues.

    The question I have is this. Doesn't Jeremy Corbyn have issues at home to deal with rather than being obsessed with Palestine? Also, I don't believe JC's purposely anti-semitic, but he's pointed fingers at others claiming racism disingenuously, so he's made his bed and he can lie in it. As for campaigning for peace, Corbyn's record has always been one sided, and it ain't on the side of his so called home country.

      It was in 2014, several British MPs attended the conference. Tunisia was attacked in 1985 by the Israeli airforce - it was condemned worldwide - also by Reagan and Thatcher. They bombed what they thought was the exiled PLO government. And killed 45 people including civilians.
      He was invited to join the ceremony remembering the victims of 1985 (NO TERRORISTS - and likely joined out of politeness for the host country. (You bet the Tunisians were upset in 1985 being bombed just like that).
      There is NO photo showing that Corbyn (or anyone else) at THAT time and occasion visited a grave of suspected terrorists. There is no photo with a stone or a name.
      Just Corbyn holding a wreath standing with a group of man.
      The Munich terrorists (Black September group) of 1972 are buried in LIBYA. In Tunis there is a _Palestinian graveyard._ In 1992 Mossad kiled men in Paris which they _claimed_ had connections to Black September and/or Munich. That connection let alone a connection to Munich was never proven. These men are (like many other regular Palestinians !) buried at the Tunisia !! graveyard.
      It is clear that corbyn was at that site where ALSO people are buried which Israel took the liberty to kill without trial and which Israel CLAIMS were terrorists or had connections to terrorists.
      They were Palestinians, that is sure, and I guess France was not eager to have them buried in France - So they were buried in the Palestinian graveyard in Tunis.
      The ceremony was for the 1985 victims of the Israeli attack, it was introduced as such and executed as such.

      Xyz Same I don’t need a review of the details of this issue. I can read and I am up to date. In my opinion, Corbyn’s a hard left progressive ideologue, and appears incapable of a nuanced stance on any of the favoured topics at the heart of his politics. All of his team are the same, Seamus Milne, Andrew Fletcher, John McDonell, and his cohorts at the Stop the West oops! War Coalition. There’s Jeremy the activist who always takes the predictable sides, and Jeremy the politician who always wheels out the weasely trope ‘I’m against ALL violence’. The thing is, some violence seems to be worse than others to them. I never saw the Stop the War Coalition demonstrating outside of the Russian Embassy about their involvement in Syria, and I’ve never seen Corbyn demonstrate against violence perpetrated by Hamas.

  • @ArchangelIcon
    @ArchangelIcon 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It all seems rather obvious, for reasons that nobody appears to be pointing out. It has been made absolutely clear why here was there, and why he was laying a wreath - for those who had been massacred. Jeremy Corbyn doesn't read or speak Arabic, and would have relied on his hosts to show him where to lay the wreath. As the terrorists aren't buried in that country, there'd have been no reason for him to suspect any of the graves would have been for them. In that situation, anyone would trust the hosts, who had invited him to the conference and ceremony for peace, to direct him where to lay the wreath. If, for any reason, it didn't happen to be for those killed in the bombing, he wouldn't have know... one grave would look like any other, with Arabic inscriptions.
    The whole thing is totally blown out of all proportion, for political ends.

    Thu truth is that many in Labour party are afraid that the party has been hijacked by the ultra-left fringe led by a mediocre back bencher Jeremy Corbyn.
