    So, along the tournament format discussion: Extend the spring season, then take the top 2 teams from each 'Major" region to play in an international league, leading into Worlds. Placement in the international league could dictate seeding pools and slots from regions for play-ins.
    This makes spring matter, retains regional representation, gives more international competition.

    • @twiceseventeen
      @twiceseventeen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should just do what Valorant does. In Valorant they never started regional leagues to begin with and it's just high-stakes qualifiers into 3-4 major international tournaments a year.

    • @bart6821
      @bart6821 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@twiceseventeen I made the assumptions that a circuit would not be possible given that they have franchised regional leagues. However, my suggestion retains those leagues, gives more international competition and incentivizes more competitive rosters since the regional reps standing in the International league would have some weight on worlds play-ins.

    • @Talynen
      @Talynen 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Business concerns wouldn't allow that; imagine how wildly your value to sponsors would swing depending on whether or not you qualify to the super league, and you can't franchise it out either.

    • @bart6821
      @bart6821 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Talynen I fail to see how this setup is different via business concerns to current worlds qualifications. Worlds is a non franchised international tournament with a qualifier from franchised regional league.
      Effectively my suggestion would just be qualifying for worlds early and having a seeding round robin that fed into current worlds format for the group draw.
      In fact, with our current regional franchising, this is the only way you could conceivably hold an international “league” without major lawsuits from current owners via breaking into a full circuit or making a super league.

    There are a couple truly warped Stixxay fans on the CLG reddit which is why (beyond the fact the team has been shit forever now) no one actually goes there to talk about anything. The guy had a couple OK splits, when Caitlyn was viable, and that's it. He is what sprung to mind immediately when I heard the question. While I don't think your ADC needs to be dominating lane, he should probably be something other than team wallpaper in every phase of the game. This is ostensibly a professional league, after all.

    As a general rule, double elimination does sound very interesting. That being said, Monte would like to play million games to ensure the best team wins. Upsets are part of the magic of watching any sport, you shouldn't look for ways to remove them. Also, UCL final is one game, which is 90 minutes. One bo5 is at least the same in terms of gameplay time. So I see no problem here.

    52:06 it's not reasonable for anything but fighting games (as an old fighting game fan). if you timeout a round in street fighter it's 99 seconds - the maximum amount of time a best of 5 can take in terms of pure game time is literally just 15 rounds of that. so yeah, resetting the bracket won't work for most games, but that's just an upside of fighting games I think - being able to have narratives of resetting the bracket and winning

  • @Beckonfour
    @Beckonfour 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Brackets look at the wrong thing. You want to get the best 4 teams to the semi's. In league just have a double elimination until 4 teams have qualified, then match them on seeding and knock out who shows up better on the day. You get the best of both worlds.

    I believe most people originally do not follow an Org, they first find a player they like.

I mean there are some really great stories about the upset to win a trophy etc. those do have some merit and are remembered for a long time. Personally if I don't like/follow a certain team and that team is the favorite to win the whole thing and starts leading a series 2:0 I will not watch the rest.
