The King Arthur Baking site had a good tip to prevent your edges from getting overdone. You moisten paper towels and fold them lengthwise to match the pan’s height. You wrap them around the edges and keep in place with aluminum foil. No change of oven temperature is necessary. Sandra Bullock’s sister made the video. Just another idea. Good baking.
Oh my god you have saved me so much time!! I wish I had found your channel last year when I was stood crying in the kitchen with the wrong size cake tins the day before my sons birthday!! Thank you xx
I like your quality explanation so much. You really know how many people needed that clear information. Surely no one is going wrong after your clip video. Thanks.
I am new baker, I wish don't want waste a lot pf items on trying so I prefer using small size amount of tin. This method really gonna help me, I event went to your page and download it. It don't even ask me for log in or sign up membership all were available for free!!! Thank you so much 😊😊😊😊
Thank you so much for this cake conversion, wish I had seen it early when I had to make a bigger cake for a birthday. I think I made about three cakes before I was happy with the result. You’re a star ⭐️🌟⭐️
Fabulous, I finally understood it! So I'm going from 2 × 6" rounds to 2 × 8" rounds (already worked out for us). Thank you Lynz, I'm going to post my comments here after I've made them!
Lynz you really are amazing thanks you a million times, because I can't convert I usually stick to the cake size in a recipe. This week however I need a large oblong tin for the coronation our get together I think I understand now how much mixture I need, thank you again hun have a good day hugs xxxx
Very informative and very well explained.....thanks a lot. But just 1 question , how to adjust baking powder and baking soda, as they are always in teaspoon measurements?
@@CakesbyLynz 🥰 it really was fab, and the chart made it so easy...... I've already converted some of my recipes into 8 and 10 inch sponges and can't wait to try them. By far one of the most helpful tutorials I've ever come across 💕
You are an amazing person❤❤ explain every single bit of information very clearly and an interesting manner. And providing this is kind of very useful for everyone who like bakings. Thank you again. With lots of love from SL❤😘🇱🇰
Thank you for this! This is so helpful! What about those layer cakes that are so popular now? I get so mamy requests to make these, how you convert a serving size for a shap like a letter or number?
The video is fantastic!! Thank you for figuring this out and sharing it. If I want to convert a recipe from a round 8" pan to a round 8" heart shaped pan, would I use a conversion number about halfway between round and square?
Thank you so much for this informative video 🙏🏻 it helped me a lot in knowing how to convert between tins I was even searching for information on how to convert from round to rectangular ! I wonder if it's possible? And if so is it the same procedure?? Anyway, I will give you tomorrow an update if my cake will come successfully baked based on the conversations :) God bless you
So helpful thank you! If you don’t mind me asking, what butter do you use? I’ve been struggling to find a butter that works well for my cakes, thanks in advance!
Hi June, I am so glad its helpful. In regards to the rectangular cake tin it is actually exactly the same process. You just need to work out the surface area of the rectangular tin and use this as the number for your new tin.
Thanks a lot for these fantastic new tips Lynz, they are very helpful indeed, 👍😍, even though there's a little bit of maths in there, but nevermind, thank you! 😉😘❤
Hiya. Loves your vdo is easy to watch. I'm planing to bake cake for my boy's birthday with your vanilla cake recipe so i have to adjust your recipe to 8". now my question is do I need to multiply 1.8 to the buttercream recipe too? Thank you 😚
Thanks so much for this ! I tried making this last night and loved it but I've gone to ice this morning and the cake is too dense and stodgey and undercooked in places. Not sure where I went wrong, I'm thinking perhaps too much lemon juice and too high heat in the oven? Any tips for when it comes out like this. Going to try again today ! Thanks so much

I have a recipe for an 8" round chocolate cake and I which I would like to use the same recipe for a 9" square cake. Can your conversion chart be used in the same way, if using different shaped tins. Thank you for all your great recipes and videos :) x

Hi Lynz thanks for the video. I have question how do you go from a large round 8x2" to a 6x2" inch square tin? thanks
I think those would work best if you converted them as whole numbers I have pans that say both 6” and 6x2” and there is an unnoticeable difference
