  • Quilting for Beginners Tutorial: Believe me, this is the easiest quilt ever for a beginner to make. In this quilting tutorial we show you, step by step, how to make a lovely quilt in less than a day. And the more you make the quicker it becomes.
    --TOOLS & SUPPLIES USED IN THIS PROJECT--
    - Batting - This is similar to what we used - amzn.to/1jacemV
    - Frixion Pens - amzn.to/1INFmpv
    - Quilting Ruler - amzn.to/2fQyOVV (the ruler we used in the video is no longer available however this is the one we use now)
    - Oliso iron (yellow- pro version): amzn.to/1QcrkUD
    - Olfa 60mm Rotary Cutter: amzn.to/1INHei1
    We are Amazon Associates. If you purchase anything using the Amazon links above you will help support our channel...thank you!
    Are you put off making a quilt because of the binding? - well in this quilt we don't use binding. And this quilt is all made with a sewing machine so there is no hand sewing.
    Not up to free motion quilting just yet? - no worries, we don't do that either.
    This is a very simple beginners quilt that can be made by anyone who can sew a straight line. And if you can't, well you'll be an expert by the time you finish, because this quilt is all straight line sewing.
    You will be so amazed at how quick and easy this is, that you will soon be making them for gifts. It's a super simple quilting pattern.
    Quilting for beginners has never been so easy!
    To make this quilt we purchased:
    - 2 metres (approx 2 yards) for the backing fabric (we had some left over after cutting to size)
    - 2 metres (approx 2 yards) of batting (we had some left over after cutting to size)
    - 1/4 metre (approx 1/4 yard) of each of 8 different types of fabrics (we didn't end up using it all)
    The completed size of the quilt is 37" by 50".

    This may be the easiest quilt ever, and you have chosen such a beautiful collection of colors and patterns that it really looks great! Love how you show each step so clearly to make sure all the layers are lined up and stay flat. I see that you used big pins all over the quilt to hold the layers together

    My 10 year old grandson was asking about learning to sew and make quilts. This is a perfect project. Lots of straight lines to sew and stitch in the ditch quilting means more straight lines. We should be able to finish it with a 2 night sleep-over.
    Can't wait to get him started.
    Thanks for the perfect project.

      It's so wonderful to see young lads getting involved with quilting. This one will certainly give him plenty of practice with sewing 1/4" seams and straight lines. Chris, our longarm quilter's grandson also loves making quilts and other crafty projects, it's great to see. :)

    I have started my quilt now - straight lines are not my problem as I found. I had to unpick a couple of strips as the material did not 'match' the rest of them. Therefore I took the two strips out before I got any further. Another thing I learnt is to watch for 'upside down' patterns - getting them all the same way up! So I am learning. Not finished the project yet as time has not been on my side, but enjoying the quilting journey so far. Thank you for being my inspiration.

    I am a total beginner. Whenever one of my kids rips holes in the knees of their jeans. I cut it off and hand sew the remaining piece into shorts. The leftover denim pieces I use I tried to hand sew into a quilt. Right now its kind of like putting unmatching pieces of already finished and shaped cloth meant for their original purpose. I don't have a is wing machines but have you guys ever heard of a workspace in the city called Gangplank?

    • @eledomingu
      @eledomingu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sewing machine

    • @alandacraft
      @alandacraft  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No we aren't familiar with Gangplank, although I googled it and it looks like something that is available in Arizona. Collaborative Workspace, sounds like a great idea, We are in Australia. I have to say that if I had to hand sew a quilt together it would never get done. I absolutely admire people with the patience to do it. You can make this quilt on just about any sewing machine, it doesn't need to be flash and fancy.

    • @eledomingu
      @eledomingu 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you. In the summer in the the United States I have very little to do so I consider this busywork. My mom told me my uncle had a quilt made out of pieces of old, torn jeans so I decided to take on the project. I expect the finished project to be comfortable and display several darker shades of blue to give a rough yet comfortable vibe.

    Thank you, this was so helpful! I'm a beginner quilter and have been trying (and bugged to death) to finish a quilt for my niece. But I was so confused on how to put it together once I had my quilt top assembled and batting and backing cut. And so many videos I have watched breeze past the part and don't give enough detail on the final steps before sewing all 3 pieces together. I was totally confused and hesitant to finish her quilt in fear that i would screw the whole thing up, leaving me and her both heartbroken. But with the clear instructions and visuals of your videos, I was able to put it together in a breeze and she loves it. So thank you, thank you, thank you!!
