    Love to watch people make things! I am a semi new quilter I have made about 14 lap/twin quilts and about 10 baby quilts! I use 8x8 squares but I see the material together then put it on top of batting, for my backing I use flat sheets and fold over the edge of top part. Never had lessons just watched lots of videos to learn how to sew! I can’t read a pattern to save my life! Lol I only like sewing blankets so this vide gave me inspiration to come out of my comfort zone some! Thank you for sharing

      I live in Ohio where we have the largest Amish population in the country & they are certainly the best of quilters. They intentionally put a mistake in each of their quilts to attest that only God could make a perfect quilt. I ❤️ this theory, and use it often to cover my unintentional mistakes😉

    Thank you for this. I have never quilted, but my Mom popped them out weekly....
    How I miss seeing her sitting in the chair with those long, long frames hanging from the ceiling. I never appreciated it until I realized she did it all by hand and her stitches were absolutely perfect and tight. I believe now, that after watching you do this, a quilt is in my future. Thank you so much for sharing this, you've really solved my problems for me. I have been given a large amount of what I thought was rather old fashioned floral curtain type material, along with a whole batch of all kinds of patterns, mostly cottons, but I had no idea what to use them for, as I wasn't too enamoured by them. But wow ! cut them into jelly rolls !! You've given me so much enthusiasm to begin my quilting journey - I've never attempted a quilt before - all those little squares ! - I cant' wait to begin, I am so very grateful to you ! Thank you !! xxxx

    That is so beautiful. I am going to make one this way. I have different shades of blue print and and going to do one after I am finished with the 2 I am working on now. Thank you so much for making a video of your quilt. I hope you and your family have a wonderful week. I started quilting again when the virus started to keep me busy at home. I do not get out much and stay home and avoid getting around people. I agree❗
      I made the mistake of joining a quilt project ,picked out a beautiful flannel top & polished silver backing and mod. batting but when I requested the coordinating colors to chose from ; "Well , we're not going to carry them , you'll have to get them somewhere else " .
      Where ? The $$$ was gone . I had more material than I need (the backing ) . No colors ,no complimentary accents . Just Navy / Silver Flannel Piccadilly Design for young new mother who could really have used a blanket . I feel so bad that her Nanna lives on such a budget . It's still in the closet . I love her so and she is such a wonderful , responsible funloving mother . She deserves so much more . I'm not giving up.I will find what I need and I think you have given me the answer . The batting is much too heavy for this flannel material ( ,I think they saw me coming - HA HA )
      Maybe a light sheet blanket ? Now on with the coordinates ❗
      Be Blessed in all that you teach. I can tell in your voice a light heartedness and love for what you teach and that

    Hi. I have been watching a lot of quilt tutorials and so far I am liking yours the best. This is so pretty and I love the color combinations. I am glad I ran across this. I would like to see the finished product also. I have never made a quilt before but you make it look so easy to follow. Questions: How do you know how wide you would like it to be and how do you finish off the edges?

    • @PamelaShepProductions
      @PamelaShepProductions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Anna, I was going to make the quilt smaller, but my daughter said she loves it and wants it for her bed which is a King.. So I had to keep making squares.... ^_^ I looked online to see how big a quilt needs to be a king quilt....Let me know if you have any questions... I am going to use the same strips that I put in between the squares... and I'm going to add some large frilly lace to make it shabby chic... I am going to do some of that sewing online for the finish.... Blessings to you.... ^_^

    She's making this look so difficult. It's sew and cut and quilt as you go. No cutting down the strips and measuring this and that. The beauty of this technique is sew and go!

    • @PamelaShepProductions
      @PamelaShepProductions  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Elizabeth.....Thank you so much for your comment.... I totally understand.... I wanted this one very orderly and straight..... Like a "measured" quilt.... I guess that is the reason for cutting 2" strips were to fit nicely on the 8" blocks.... However I am about to do a "Crazy" quilt at random and embellishing it... I think that will be so fun....... Blessings to you ......

If you could give me the names of the fabric and the lace I would greatly appreciate it. Would also love to see finished product. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain every detail. I have read all the comments for this video and was a it praturbed at the comments that dead so much waited time it's just cut on and sew. Not everyone gets the pinning and folding so you taking the extra time to show and explain it was so helpful. I have a learning disability it is a comprehension problem I learn more by watching than reading and I'm sure they're are many like me. Please don't stop doing the detail in your videos just to save a little time. If you did then people like me would probably give up on trying to quilt because we wouldn't understand how to do it. You made this way harder by not placing your backing on from the beginning. There are templates for this technique called Fun and Done. That's why it's called quilt as go because you quilt all three layers at once. I made a king sized quilt using the Fun and Done templates and pattern.
